Nothing wrong with steel if you know what it's capabilities are , your always going to get some people say that steel is crap and you can't get a clean kill from it, "Well" you will Not! shooting at fowl out of range... some but not all fowlers have trouble judging distance and that's where the fault lies . .... I shoot steel all year round at clays , pigeons , wildfowl, a lot of people make the mistake of just going out and buying steel cartridges ,and using them without testing them through there guns and patterning them to find the right cartridge that suits there gun some people may t

proper weather for fowling some recent flight's on the foreshore
wag replied to wag's topic in Wildfowling
He is just over two now this is his first full season and still very full of himself , he thinks he knows best a lot of the time, then some times i let him run on when retrieving and he does surprise me at times .... i would say it would be getting on for 300 yards to the other side of the river where the canada was floating down , he was swimming against the tide on the way over then on the way back the tide was takin him down river ... it is a nice spot when the conditions are right , the dug out has been there for years since i was a teenager , someone just cleans it back o -
i have to say , i normally marinate them in different kinds of chutney , or reggae reggae sauce , but i gave some ducks and geese to a couple of polish lads at work and they bought me some back to eat that had been smoked under cherry shavings and it tasted great ....

well i have been on holiday this last week and done nothing but shooting pheasants and wildfowling down the foreshore in good old fowling weather .. it's the young dogs first full season this year , i had him out in feb last year 3 or 4 times but he was not properly ready for it ..... there has been a few duck about but i have had to work hard for them and i have had a few geese also ..taking a nice triple out at canadas Saturday morning ... the young dog had what i would call a fantastic retrieve this morning and it made my week , i pulled a canada out second shot and it peeled o

les believe me or believe not , I h ave access to loads of inland duck shooting and I do go but !! If there are ducks and geese down the foreshore guess where I will be at the end of the day you do what you do and we do what we do , this pole was started to see what peoples thoughts are . now some people have taken it the wrong way..

I personally don't think We need to go down that road Wag, it matters not what we call our own sport. As has been shown on here in the last week we all shoot the same birds in different locations at time. Me......I'm just as happy to shoot a duck or goose on the foreshore as an inland stubble. I do however detect a machismo attitude of those who seek their sport on the foreshore over those who shoot inland........ie covered in mud, few birds came etc.......just my observations. bell like i said this is nothing serious, just a poll to see what peoples thoughts are..... as for not goin

there is nothing wrong with my dug out chunk i told you thats what you need i put you in the best spot and you still can't get the geese , i do like to get hidden even the teal could not see me that dropped in with the decoys , i could have shot a few more but they were to good for me yesterday morning they where low and fast and it was great sport not many ducks shot but it's not all about shooting big numbers ... i did shoot a wigeon that dropped way over the other side of the drain the dogs had to cross the drain we were shooting ..... then over the bank and across another drain the ot

Thanks for the positive comments Wag Jay No worries, it's nice to look at a thread and see someone has taken the time to do a nice write up and ad photo's of there trips wildfowling ... than some just plonking a photo on and just say shot these today and that's all they say , i like to here and read about other fowlers out and about, also takin the time to show the young ones how to go on after all they are our future and without them i feel wildfowling will be a thing of the past .... .... regards wag

I removed it , it was going the wrong way , we don't want any falling out in the wildfowling section , i think it runs well in this section so lets keep it that way .... perhaps its not every ones cup of tea seeing geese shot out of season ......... les did say it had to be done so we have to except it .... i do not agree with it but that's me ....
-
