Plummer Cross Bedlington Terrier

You don't have to do all that with an "Apple" mate so it depends on your set up,good luck if you're using "windows, etc",depending on your camera you may have to re-size the pic as this site only allows for very small pics to upload, WM -
There's hundreds of ways for a wind up but best not discussed on here in open forum, I get loads of hassle from the likes of him, nothing worse than a townie going country, just use your head and do nothing in temper, time is on your side, its a dish to be served up cold, say nothing to nobody, watch him and know your enemy, keep anything like the notes he leaves on your car and make a note of time and date, I would just let him see you watching it will keep him wondering,if he approaches you make sure he hits you first as its open day then, I love a bit of hassle, WM

You need to acquire a pup of the type "you" like as there will be good working types in all the terrier breeds, I only do a few fox these days so mine suit me fine on rabbit, rat, birds and ferreting, shooting, hawking, they listen and learn quickly adapting to anything, I had Russell types for years and they were not much different mate, you're best going out with the type you like and waiting for something off them,I don't know where you are in England but if you are in travelling distance I will gladly bring my dogs over for a bit of bushing or whatever, pm me if you like, WM -
Nice to see you back on your feet getting fit again, it can be a long road back with tough times good luck for the future and I'm sure any pup gifted or sold to you will be treasured after all that, good hunting, WM

I retired aged 42yrs, I am 58yrs old now, hunt on permission 7 days a week and lamp but as a younger man did just like the rest, fitted it in around work, buying a house and raising a family, its hard work raising a family whilst keeping your head above water financially, you have to keep your mrs happy whilst fitting in family life, now with the family grown up and I wonder how I ever found time to work all them shifts, WM

Trev, we had some mad times killing them in town, 3 of us once trekked all day in the snow at Xmas one year checking earths and cover around all the known places both in the fields and around factories, etc, anyway we had drew a blank and on the way home in the middle of Birkenhead I suggested stopping on the corner of a main road where I'd picked up a massive dog fox off the road for skinning the previous week, there was a scout hut up off the floor on bricks that looked ideal for a quick bolt so out we got, 3 lurchers and we took just one terrier for the bolt, it was enclosed in its own car par

I only ever went 2 generations as it was too unpredictable after that with so many breeds in the genetic make up,black was the dominant gene the more you went down that road and always went back to a first cross type for earthwork, tried many types over them, I also put a few other well known Russell terrier types over them : Greg Mouseley's, David Jones,Darren Scotts "eddie",a Gould dog, even bred off a Chapman bitch to a Plummer dog that was probably the worst bitch I ever owned and she produced weak headed tiny rubbish that were sold as pets, I gave her away to a pet home afterwards, so you -

Stormy, I know what your saying on Brian but the best Plummer earth dogs I have ever seen were Plummer / Patts, I ran a line of 1 cross and second cross for 20 yrs that would work all quarry without suffering to much damage even on heavier stuff, always stayed till dug, many of the Plummer earth dogs about at the moment tend to be a tad too hard or try to get the job done too quick, if it won't bolt I like a patient dog that does not take too much stick till I get there, as regards him breeding what he set out to do well the jury is still out on that one as I believe he never finished the job, -
I started off with bushing out of allotments, gardens, back gardens, railway lines, scout huts, in fact anywhere the fox could be found then we would take them there, we hunted for skins after the autumn moult, once they were in their hard winter coats we would hammer them, we would get loads under pigeon lofts or chicken huts, sometimes they would be lying up in cover nearby, we would not get a second look from joe public back then but now its a very different story, everybody has a phone and is an expert on the countryside lol's, the foxes in town used to scavenge out of the old tin bins, they cou

Plummers are just a different coloured Russell in my opinion, a coat pattern, they are a mix from too many types to ever sustain themselves as a proper breed, Brian Plummer was an egotistical maniac intent on always proving others wrong, disliked most normal dog lads and tried to breed to an elite ownership (hence the price), no right minded person would of started a type by putting beagle and bull in it, he never completed his ambition to breed whole litters of just caped terriers and always struggled with body or head size, every terrier man thats ever bred wants to breed a dog with a tight co -
Navek, check out "Cyril Bason's" website, they supply growers or cobs from whatever age you want nationwide, I 've ran them on in batches for eating myself, may suit you,WM

Tracy, I've read a few of your posts on here and they are very wide of the mark,I've bushed all my life and most of the terriers I've kept catch everyday, I used to work 1 Plummer dog on his own and he would catch rabbits everyday, hold a fox in cover or out on his own, so I guess you've only ever kept poor terriers or ones unsuitable for bushing, some days my terriers catch more than my lurchers. Squirrell, not all terriers suffer from nettle stings or have eyes that swell up, mine are worked in heavy cover everyday and show no real signs of suffering, I am out 7 days, all year round, again I wo

Duke,if only life was that simple, the further you get away from known parentage, the more scatter bred they become, not only making it uncertain of colour, stamp, etc, but also uncertain of working ability, thats why the likes of Nuttall,Chapman,Mouseley, etc all went back to basics when starting a line, years ago there were only a handful of breeders specialising in one type, i.e.: Patts,Russells, etc and if you were after a guaranteed worker providing you had the dosh they would sell you one, whereas now there are loads of wannabes that are putting worker / worker as you say but still producing -

I have bred every type of hybrid except this one so its lets wait and see what the pups are like, I would think that a few would carry the red colour but their coats will be interesting, you may well get a long linty coat, I suppose it depends on how the parents were bred,on the Plummer side it depends on if its "NEW" blood with plenty of bull or "OLD" blood from poor lines, a bit more info or pics would be nice, I would think the beddy would add leg to what can already be a leggy type, suck it and see is the answer,WM -

I don't know what the idea was mate, it all come as a surprise to me, the dogs are'nt workers, I just wondered if they would be likely to be of any use at all, not trying to find homes for the pups (that is if the bitch has even taken), these are nothing to do with me. Like I've already said I don't keep terriers, know nothing about them, I enjoy reading a bit on here about the terriers though, and just wanted to ask if this cross had been tried by anyone before ? I would stay well clear if either has seen no work, sounds like an accident anyway,WM -

Moley, its the thin end of a wedge for you jocks, the protected status of all the country estates is going, leaving them all liable to tax,vat and all the health and safety sh*t that goes with it, before long every thing that made your country free and a countryman's dream will be closed down by a bitter dried up puppet lookalike, I have good friends working in the Grampians as keepers, etc and it will push borderline farms and estates into bankruptcy, she'll have you all using white diesel next,LOL's,WM -

Tata loses 1million pounds a day,you are a typical labour voter with no thought for your own future,I have been made redundant 5 times ,mostly under a labour government, you cannot sell something for less than it costs to make, supply and demand will dictate what is produced by a lean labour force in todays modern age,if there is no profit then it goes, simple!!! Nationalisation or communism has been proven not to work, the idea was good but the facts did not bear it out for either Russia or China, both have had their problems and China now has a competitive market with free trade,we have been com -
Hello mate,I think there has been some over thinking on this one,I own a hw100s in 177 and I had been having very similar problems with accuracy,I found that I zero,d the gun then when shooting out the van or golf cart I would be missing by about 3inches,I found that at times I was resting on the floating barrel and not the cylinder,I taped up the figure of 8 bracket making it solid on both cylinder and barrel,I now hit pellet on pellet every time,I use mine for pest control a lot and find it the most accurate gun I,ve ever owned, very rarely miss a shot and if I do it would be my mistake and n

Maybe a better pic of him,WM a couple of Plummer/ patts with my lads as kids,WM my mate "Scotty"s russell,I used him a number of times over different bitches, threw a nice pup "GRIP" bred my very first litter using this black fell over my Plummer bitch, he never had much nose and relied on travelling everything until he bumped into them, always stayed and a good busher as

That lurcher is the image of a dog I had back in the late 90's he was a 7/8s dog 1/8 bedlington big dog could run like a train and he took some foxes out in his day all single handed. He'd show the bull xs of today up. He was a straight Saluki/greyhound don't know who bred him but he come from the goolans in Liverpool, lived to a real good age and was still working till late on, WM
