  1. Great post FD,as some one who breeds a few litters a year and have for over 36yrs now I still leave nothing to chance,I am lucky enough to have plenty of space inside the kitchen or laundry room and when the time approaches they are brought inside from a week before, I keep a lot of clean towels and always whelp in plastic boxes or beds, I take mine out right up to the day of labour starting, nothing to heavy just a bit of bushing on the bunnies,if she goes off her food its quite imminent unless its a "run through" which some do a day or so before, I always start my counting of days from the fi
  2. I have been stopped twice by a few of the better known lads, posts altered and removed to suit a few, so although I make the odd comment now its easier not to get involved in petty squabbles, there aren't many that would say stuff to my face, WM
  3. Don't know mate. It definitely says "Banned" in big red letters here. Walshie, why not try a fine at least that way the site doesn't suffer from losing lads that post and do actually have experiences to pass on, WM
  4. looks a real nice pup, good luck and happy hunting when the time comes, got a great coat,WM
  5. what kind of cover, a large dog like that cannot possibly work the kind of heavy bramble, gorse, nettles, etc that I work on a daily basis, maybe long ferns on a bank or hillside, heather maybe but that can be hard on dogs ???? sorry I don't get what its use is ?? WM
  6. The shorter guns are definitely better shooting from a vehicle and the rabbits defo sit tighter , most of my shooting in the week is done from a golf cart and I bag at least 150 a week when the numbers are up, I've only ever walked up with my night vision and mostly on garden jobs but they are efficient, be interested in the video, WM
  7. Welcome to the mad house thats THL,look forward to your posts, WM
  8. I've never written any pedigree or paperwork for any of my pups, there is only one person that knows every bit of what blood is in my pups and thats me, those pups on gumtree however were bred by me and will make excellent terriers in the correct hands, they were sold separately to 2 different lads that wanted them to form a ratting pack, they are just over 8 months old and providing they have not been harshly treated they will go on to do whatever is required of them, they are brother and sister so cannot be bred together,I hope they go to a decent working home,if anyone buy's one let me know,
  9. not worth it he will just say they ain't for you lol that depends whether you're a helmet or not, gotta pass the interview as my pups sell themselves, WM
  10. Hello Keith, been a while since you posted, hope all is OK with your lot and Johnny is alright,Wilf has sired a few more litters,I had a litter born Saturday night and another litter is due in about 8 days,he throws a tidy small pup with good coats and plenty of colour,he has settled down as a good steady dog that listens to commands but can use his brain when needed, lives for work, work and more work,we are all made up with him and its like having my old dog Danny back again,WM
  11. my lad had a deerhound/collie/greyhound about 10 yrs ago that had a similar injury, he was never quite right for a year or two but on occasions he looked a world beater but you just had to limit your time out with him, when he got to around 6 or 7 we found him a pet home as that winter was a very cold snowy one and his back leg that he had injured would go stiff especially standing around ferreting, WM
  12. Looks a strong little tyke, good luck with it, must have some Plummer in it to be that good looking!! LOL,s, WM
  13. He is a lovely pup mate, hope he does really well for you,WM
  14. Plenty of myxie on there at the moment had some good numbers off there myself over the weekend, good little starters for mine an Toms pup, even my pregnant bitches caught plenty, let's hope they are still there come autumn, sounds like you had a nice weekend just a pity the grass is a bit long for the lamp
  15. I can't work it out myself mate. I was warned when I got this bitch by a few people about negative comments etc but didn't expect people to be so hostile toward them. If I said my Jack Russell was a good busher that would be the end of it, if I said my fell terrier was a good ratter it would be okay and if I said my beagle was good at hunting up it would be pats on the back. But say your Plummer is a good busher, rather or hunter and you might aswell put your head on the chopping block. Lol I warned you about getting a Plummer, I'll still take that bitch off you LOL's, Gaz don't get excit
  16. I wouldn't be encouraging them digging after rabbits as they will get into trouble, you've just got to be firm and move them on, they'll soon get the score that a mark is fine but digging after them a big NO,NO, WM
  17. Si, I used the RWS and I still have a tin left but I will try the bisley mags when the others are used, I look after 6 different golf courses and shooting out the cart gives me the edge and I can get about real quick, back there in the morning 5-30am start, WM
  18. I went out saturday night and took my mate with his wolverine, I gave the barrel a real good brushing out but can't say I noticed any dirt ,etc, anyway a quick bit of light oil around the mag area as it was very dry then off to pick my mate up,as we arrived I noticed 2 bunnies sat near to where I park at the golf course,as they never moved I thought I'd try the gun out first shot, took that one at about 30yds,half grown and shot right through the eye,I never looked back from there really shooting 48 on my own and my mate shot a good 25, I am not impressed with the Wolverine as there were plenty
  19. good luck with your pup,its had a great start in life and off working parents so you certainly have the potential for a first class lurcher in the making,WM
  20. Carl, all pups will growl at anything strange to them, just tell her no, take her around as much stock as possible until she gets used to them, once they realise its nothing to be afraid of they will take no notice, good luck with your pup,WM
  21. Socks, any chance of moving in with you, what great food,I would be made up eating that myself, seriously though this litter of pups are a credit to your feeding them the best, can,t beat a good start, hope their new owners give them the same devotion,, WM
  22. I went out again last night and took a mate who shoots a very fancy "Wolverine",he was made up getting to shoot plenty of bunnies and I was glad of the company, his rifle was decent enough but after the slightest of knocks it was miles out, although a nice gun its not really a sporting type rifle for me, I was a lot more accurate shooting about 35 bunnies, some out to 50yds or so but still got the odd stray shot, I will finish the other tin of RWS off tonight and then try the bisley mags I found in my cupboard,it will be a trip to valley arms one day this week to buy some AA Diablo field, I am d
  23. Its not too many know alls its the fact that those of us that have been breeding and working terriers for a very long time actually "care" for the stock we produce or keep, I hate to see suffering but Lee had options so in my mind anyone that can callously PTS a bitch as easily as that would not spend too much time looking for his terrier when its slipped to ground, I've said it many times on here that he is green as grass and gullible in the least, the biggest surprise for me was when "Foxdropper" (a man of years in the game) was prepared to give him a pup, that would be a big mistake imo and
  24. Thanks for the replies lads, I have some bisley mags and 2 tins of RWS super field for over the weekend but I'm definitely getting rogue shots at the most inopportune moments, I think it may be due its annual clean and re-zero until I can get the preferred AA Diablo Field, I'm off out again in an hour or so and will not be back in till 11 pm tonight so I'll know by then what the others have done, its the odd rogue shot thats annoying me ,even the grouping is poor ,Mark W,what oil spray do you use or is it something you mix yourself, you may laugh but I spray a bit of WD40 in my pellets and hav
  25. just a quick one for the lads that have a full size in -177, as a pest controller on estates and private houses I use this gun most days and since buying it a few years or so ago I have only ever shot AA diablo field out of it until last week, I normally buy 10 tins at a time but on going to my local gunsmith last week he had none,so after a bit of discussion I came away with 1 tin of RWS super field to try,he told me they were the same weight and if anything should be better, anyway I was on the way to a job on a golf course to shoot rabbits, now I normally average between 40 - 60 in the bag pl
