I don't take any deposits or orders as I think then you are a breeder but a few mates always ask me when I'm lining a bitch or keep them in mind for next time, I advertise them from 6 weeks and enjoy meeting decent lads from all over the country until I let them go at 8 weeks, I've never been left with a pup and do genuinely believe in the "quality" I have spread across the country, my pups have gone to every corner of Britain and I get lots of e-mails about their progress, my wife enjoys the pups but after these litters we shall not be breeding again, I will simply let these I have grow old. -
Whelping Pt 2 (Rearing To 8 Weeks)

Socialisation is a good thing but keep your runs clean in your garden are many hazards, many plants or bulbs are poisonous and some fatal so be aware of the dangers, my garden can be a bit hectic especially in summer, it is not unusual for my hawks to moult out on their leashes nearby and my ferrets will be put out from time to time to enjoy the fresh air, all these strange sights will make the pups socialisation and education a bit more rounded, my terriers learn a healthy respect for everything early as they will see them in their daily lives hunting- 36 replies

Whelping Pt 2 (Rearing To 8 Weeks)

I see no harm to either bitch or pups from keeping a big litter, this bitch had nine and coped easily, no runt, good shiny coats and as it was a nice day a temporary run thrown up to take advantage of the good summer weather that year they're straight at her even though they have just been fed I always use a few bowls when feeding and never leave food over,I let the bitch finish any leftovers I always let my pups see rabbits in their skins and don- 36 replies

Whelping Pt 2 (Rearing To 8 Weeks)

I only feed that often because there is normally somebody about to do so and I would rather feed little and often rather than huge meals a couple of times, its all about time really and how much you work, WM -
Whelping Pt 2 (Rearing To 8 Weeks)

My bitches cannot get in to the pups unless I let her in after 3 weeks, the time spent is reduced over the next 3 weeks until the pups are fully independent, from 6-8 weeks if the bitch can get in she will regurgitate her food for the pups and lose condition, I wean the pups in purpose made runs that slot together so they can be as large or small to fit your space available, you can see them in the second picture, very handy and not expensive, WM -

D.C. breeding decent pups doesn't happen by chance and my statement said "decent",you said quality, but thats a fair assessment I will stand by, I really don't care whether you think I'm a plum or not as I have read some pretty daft sh*t that you have posted, its easy to breed from scatter bred terriers like yours that are already doing the job but try finding "decent" working Plummers of the correct size and type, I have bred something that simply wasn't out there, The Plummer terrier as a breed was never finished or completed before its namesake died and the clubs have no idea, they are onl -

I have bred terriers every month of the year and you can't beat summer pups, they can go out in a run and the sun on their backs really brings them on,also the bitch will be ready for work come autumn,win/win all round, WMEvery month? There's a name for that.....? Peddler haha what a helmet you are, probably never bred a decent litter, without the likes of me there would be no decent pups to buy, you're probably one of those dicks that keep them in a remote sh*thole away from their house in 2" of sh*t,don't knock lads that take time to breed quality, WM Someone touchy! Wrong on all accounts -

Jeemes, I would never cull a healthy pup and find your methods both old fashioned and cruel, WM -
Plummers from a decent working line are easy to train and are genuine all round terriers, mine will mark every occupied hole be it rat, fox, rabbit, badger, stoat or anything else, raising them from a pup it is easy to move them on from the quarry we are not hunting, I have done the same with patt crosses and russells so nothing to exaggerated or far fetched , if it is not in your capabilities then stick to just slipping a terrier off a lead upon arriving at an earth, it is you that are limiting what your terriers can do, most are capable of more than just earthwork, WM

I own at least 4 that do just that and its not rocket science, the mother and father of them pups and the 2 litters I have now all do just that, easy to get them marking earths, mine only enter on command and they will not go in after a rabbit, WM

its 420 for them both as I understood it but you would not buy one of mine for less than 300 mate, WM

The Plummers were bred by me last year, they are brother and sister,so they cannot be bred together, they were sold to 2 separate lads supposedly to start a rat pack, I have phoned the lads dad and it turns out they are travellers,1 lad has been offered a good job and has no time for it now and the other lad is supposed to be boxing for the west midlands and has no time either, I was conned by bullish*t into selling them and should never have let them have them, all I will say is that I own both sire and dam to both those pups and they do everything I ask of them, I have tried to buy them back t

I thought as FD brought the poor manner in which some litters are whelped and in light of a few recent posts on lads not having any idea on raising a healthy litter then a pt 2 may help those thinking of breeding for the first time. Once the pups are born its really important to keep an close eye on the bitch, especially if its a big litter, "milk fever" or eclampsia can be fatal and so plenty of quality food must be given to her at regular intervals, mine get up to 5 meals a day, in that will be mixed meat and those tins of cheap sardines in tomato sauce. I always take my bitches out for a

that would depend what you call summer, I've had litters in june that have needed them because of wet cold conditions and it would also depend where you are keeping them, common sense really, get yourself a incubator thermometer,it has a digital read out and a remote sensor on the end of a wire that can be placed in the bed with the bitch, I keep mine around 19*C. Corkman, I always used to let nature take its course until finding 3 "dead" pups on my kitchen floor at 6-30am one sat morning and another large bull headed pup half hanging out the bitch, I quickly put the 3 "dead" ones in my dre -
Max, it is a tragedy but also a sad fact that these lads fail, we want the best in the front line and its easy to judge sat here in our relatively safe beds, we are kept safe by men doing stuff that you would not believe, from halo jumps to being fired out of torpedo tubes at sea, lying about in -32degrees of snow to being in the desert at one minute extreme heat, then cold at night, there is not always time to acclimatise, you have to go where and when needed at a moments call, there is no room for failure, 1 man can get you all killed, as the advert says "be the best", WM
-
it separates the men from the boys, you need the best for special forces and I can't see how else to test in this country other than barren, hot or cold wet conditions pushed to your limits, the enemy will not stop just because its a hot day , they will run you down, its then you will know how far you can go, always sad to see a lad die but thats the process unfortunately, RIP, WM

If you've tried twice and the bitch has either rejected the pups or damaged them badly, then I wouldn't breed from her again. Some bitches do lose the plot, possibly due to hormonal behaviour gone awry, but unless you can hand rear or foster pups on to a sensible bitch I'd not put myself or the bitch through that again. Great advice Penny and age can sometimes play a part in a bitches behaviour, WM -
I think I only did what was right mate. Been getting out looking for her after work for 4-5 hours. Getting to bed about 11am. Getting back up at 2pm to look for her before work and putting posters up. Had 3 hours sleep every day for last 5 days. But I owe it to her and would do it for all my dogs. And more so for my little girl. Great news Gaz and its clear from all your posts about any of your dogs how much you care about them, really pleased for you and I've never seen so many likes and pleasurable posts about a Plummer, keep up the good work, WM
-
I'm made up you got her back Gaz, its the not knowing where she was that gets you down, anyway soon be back at it eh !! good hunting,WM
-
I've been a bit busy with pups the last few days Gaz and only just seen this now, don't lose hope and keep looking,do not say she is a working dog when phoning rescue centres or the rspca as they "WILL" defo say they don't have her, they hate working dogs,go and look in the runs yourself, hope you find her but if you need any more help looking I will travel down, WM

I already know the bits that will annoy you, strongest survive and all that but you know I never cull unless its something innate like cleft palette or deformed in any way, The way I see it is that if I'm going to the trouble of losing a bitch for a while due to pups I will do it the only way I ever have, looking after any stock comes easy to me be it chickens, lambs, goats or whatever and going the extra mile is better than losing a good bitch with a litter inside her, WM
