I get where your coming from but I can't pre meditate what I might do in that situation, as far forward as I can see in my head is a herd of reds a short walk from me and countless roe along the way. I'm quite thankful to have the nessasary tools and a bit of knowledge to think that way as no doubt you do mate. Thing of all the people that won't have that luxury to fall back on. Atb

Worth owning a decent camera katchum and a second hand SLR can be bought for 50 quid or less, lenses cost the money but if you're a decent hunter and can get up close you don't need a mega lens mate for decent pictures ?

Won't make a difference to me, my house is 90 years old and has always had an open fire and all the while I'm here it will continue. Most shocking law since the poll tax to me that.

Thanks for that top ideas there I have done a temp repair by making a couple of rubber rings from an old bike inertube the size of the reel rings, and it seems to be working really well. I think the true test will be when the rod is fully cranked over, as to whether it has worked or not. I like the idea of packing out the reel foot hadn't entered my mind. Cheers for the help

I could do Arry but want my boy to use it now, he is showing a real interest now at 14 so I'm keen to get him out. Just sorting through 28 rods and this one 8ft ledger will do him perfect. Thinking of sticking it in a waterbutt over night ? If not will try what's been suggested previous. Cheers

Got a prison in village here, few locals work their and get in pub, told of some poor sod tied a blanket together then looped it round a rad pipe then proceeded to lay on floor with blanket round neck then rolled on floor to tighten. Drugs were to blame apparently
