  1. Could be mate, also said to breed them young to stretch hips etc to make for easier litters later if bred from again. Makes um run better after a litter ?
  2. Om sure I was told or read some where that when using collie blood the greyhound should always be the sire. It may have been Lilias Rider Haggard in his book, when describing Smithfield breeding. That old book set the bar for all others that followed imo.
  3. With regards to the question of whether the sire or dam has most influence on the litter: I remember reading several times about people feeling that the dam has the most influence simply because of the fact that she's raised them it's not just food that comes from mothers milk so I would say the bitch would have the most influence
  4. Yep he is that, I try to avoid his kit I did buy a bucket the other week and discovered it was one of his, pissed me right off.
  5. Thanks Fred, and good luck with the lamping, I need to pick myself up another lamp but I'm not a fan of these led ones.
  6. I met him before he started Korda and took an instant dislike to him thought he was a weasel
  7. So 2 1/8ths could produce a yapper do you think it comes from the beddy, I thought it was a nervous thing when on larger quarry. Cheers
  8. I could never stop my old lurcher once the red mist came down, did she bark while chasing? Sorry for all the questions mate but I'm heading the same way not pure whippet but a lot of whippet blood in the mix so to speak.
  9. Looking forward to seeing how she does on the lamp, if I remember some of your posts she was a squirrel assassin and was climbing trees in order to get them. Or I have you mixed up with someone else of here. Did she hit wire mate ?
  10. Has she been out on the lamp yet fred90?
  11. Something someone once told me was always put speed over the bitch, as in grey over collie for instance not the other way round
  12. How did that work out for you tatsblisters, did you get what you were looking for ?
  13. Summary the right pup meets the right owner then a legend is born. But rarely repeated making sense now

  15. I think he wrote using fact ,fiction and fantasy and when all put together created some great reads.
  16. I thought perhaps he was a physics teacher or something and got the title from that.
  17. What subject did he teach at school mac ?
  18. Thanks for that I'm getting a better understanding of bitza breeding seems like these truly special dogs that appear with the right owners really are like winning the lottery. Down side to owning such a dog is that all dogs after never measure up, I suppose
  19. Take ear plugs essential I would say
  20. Ha ha wrong end of stick, keep on keeping on and digging those pictures up
  21. Digging can be a pain when they dont want to bolt, more often than not its raining or they been and sussed the nets. I have on a few occasions been dangled upside down by may ankles in order to grab a rabbit. Other days haven't need to did at all. You can't take anything for granted in this game. Ever thought of using a liner like the old days before locaters were about. Get your self well, and I'm sure someone will take you out for the day and give you a front row seat. Atb mate
  22. Did you ever work you dogs on the lamp at all ?
