Hey gaz could you put link up for the review and video when you get a minute please mate, I only on this site when working dogs and takes me ages to find stuff. Cheers

Been thinking it might be cheaper to feed mutt with a diet of carrots for night work lol

Wouldn't want to give wrong advice here mate,as mine was a pup when introduced it seemed to me that the ferret's could take care of them selves and a couple slaps on the nose when he got ruff with them and told no. Plus he was bitten a few times so he soon learned to respect the ferret's. Not sure about older dogs maybe one dog at a time on a lead in the garden couple times a day till your confidant with them together. Once dogs realise just what the ferret's bring to the party while working it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck mate

A bit like passing driving test you buy a motor that gets you to a to b and does the job.seems these cheap lamps catch rabbits maybe not everyone in the field but hey they get you out.Maybe when your top of your game you know the best kit for the job and can afford it then have the roles roce bit like fishing gear you can pay a fiver for a rod and catch fish or you can spend 500 on a rod that does the same but casts a bit further Guna get one of these cheap LEDs due it fits me pocket. Happy hunting fellas

You could just ferret it during the day most stables we ferret the horses keep their distance, or they really friendly. However there is the odd one that just don't like dogs, had a situation when entered field about 10 acre got half way across then noticed as few horses and one charging round fence line, so put dog on lead. Horse came straight over to me and dog horse was fine with me but hated dog so it took a long half hour to walk out of field horse running circling us to get at dog. Atb

Yeah ex army quivers they are heavy, but the poles last a life time and the bag gets lighter as you goA brush handle cost 98p at the moment not sure what we paid would of been less 10+ year ago Atb Dog has now stopped retching socks does that mean he good to go or rest him longer mate cheers

A broom handle isn't long enough to cut into 3 longnet poles is far to thick and far to heavy ... if you've got a 50 meter net with the poles set at 5 meters how big has the fukcing basket got to be to hold all those brush handles ... daftest idea I've heard for a long time ...... Lol I can't seem to edit my posts but more for your old type longnet with steel pins and separate poles copper collar on bottom drill hole 3 mm cut head off 6 inch nail knock in hole copper stops broomstick from splitting. Will post a picture we use them on 100yard nets
-
Broom stick handles cut into 3 and notch the end, if you have access to a lathe turn down notch end 2 mm down an inch then cut some 22mm copper in inch pieces and sleeve on,to add strength they will last years, but they heavy OK if working out back of truck. Easy net with basket and glass poles is the way foward IMO Atb

Be sure they don't overheat during the summer months mate, size wise make it as big as you can the more floor space they have to run around the better also consider dividing it in 2 if you want to breed later on so you can separate the families Good luck with the build
-
No worries mate ... you can send me the money for a drink in the post if you want ... it's about £30 a pint in my local lol ... give the dog enough time off for the cough to go mate ...... Lol how about 2 rabbits and a pheasant Dog will be rested,he won't like it when I box the ferret's in the morning, but he will get some good grub for his dinner if I'm lucky Atb

I got one it's a technics eurotec have had some good finds old lead tokens and a 1666 farthing and about £60 modern coins that I wash and throw in change machine at sainsburys when I get enough, reckon it will pay for itself if I can be bothered to get out and use it more, found lots of shoe buttons, horse brasses musket balls. As said beats watching telly also you get to recce the land for rabbits Atb

Dog had a big run resulting in him being completely exhausted just lying in puddles not moving. 2 days on with good grub water and rest he seems OK Except for a he retches like he going to be sick but nothing's coming out occasionally a bit of frothy water, he is eating well drinking well so don't think anything is stuck in his throat no signs of blood in his crap. He cough's and retches maybe a dozen times a day Any help much appreciated

I agree it's frowned upon to release foxes, but there isn't a law against it or the rspca would be in a world of shit as they do it all the time. Taken off the net doesn't mean it's law. If it is, I'd be very interested to know which specific law. Nor being argumentative. i'm just interested. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/foxes-moles-and-mink-how-to-protect-your-property-from-damage try this mate Nope.It just says you shouldn't transport them or relocate them as it causes stress. Same as it says you shouldn't use firearms in urban areas, when you clearly can and I have many time

Can't seem to edit above post to add all taken of the net. I have 2 mates that work as pest controllers and need to know today's laws.
-
Some pest controllers charge huge fees to cage-trap nuisance foxes which are then either shot or dumped miles away. A fox dumped in a strange territory will find itself in competition for food with resident foxes. This causes significant stress and leads to an increase in the numbers of reported cases of mange as well as in the number of road casualties. Thus the removal of a fox from its home range and dumping it elsewhere (known as ‘hard-release) is almost certainly an offence of cruelty under the Abandonment of Animals Act 1960 and is condemned by the government’s Department of Environment,

Round here it's illegal to move them unless they are dead. Check on that one mate unless there has been a recent change in the law. Atb

Mate went against dog when it didn't mark a bury with nice clean holes loads of fresh shit, said it had to hold rabbits so netted 30+ holes ran the ferret's through from one end to other resulting in fck all He has never gone against dog since.
-
Had a couple out bury using this year's ferret's on Sunday. I then moved along bank to work the next, when I looked round for dog he wouldn't leave the bury just standing looking at me then looking at hole in front of him. So I walked back with older ferret's resulting in another bonus bun that the young ferret's must have missed.? Happy days we won't starve this week.

A well bred lurcher with heart, shown enough will rag to shit, without any bull IMO And they can catch on long slips lol
