  5. I like the first scale a good fit, and glue fully set, then drill through that one,- then get a good fit and glue fully set on the second scale, then drill through from the first one, that way i know everything will be ok. I know it takes me a bit longer, but i don't make many knives, so have plenty of time.
  6. I just find it easier this way, and less chance of any slippage with the scales, when drilling the holes.
  7. Both scales now fitted and drilled through. Just the brass pins to fit now, then shape the handpiece.
  8. Good to hear about that company for you. I have a few sharpening systems, to work on with this blade. I'd like to use the proper wet stones but i don't find them easy.
  9. Thanks Rio, very interesting stuff. I must admit i like the ease of use of this Z-poxy. As can be seen, i now have the scales in place. Just the pins to work on now.
  10. If anyone was to see a ghost, it would be naked, as the body dies, not what he or she was wearing.
  11. Yes i agree with you, i also used the Devcon 2 ton epoxy, but i got the Araldite free, and now this Z-poxy,- i would rate all three glues the same, super strength. My mate is using a place, i'm sure in Consett for the heat treating, i will find out if your interested. I like o1 steel but i hear a lot of good stuff about this D2.
  12. Although the glue sets in 30 minutes, i will still let it set at least 24 hours before the next stage. The quicker setting time helped with less chance of the scales moving.
  13. I had used the Araldite 2011 superstrong type, for the liners to the scales, and i would normally use that onto the knife, but my mate swears by the Z epoxy, so i thought i'd give it a go, putting the slabs on the knife. I drill into the scales as you will see, as it increases surface area for glue and better strength. I will point out thats not fingerprints on the blade, but dust, it will clean off. Its taken some time to get on with this knife, due to lack of time with work, and a bit of ill-health for a time, but i hope to have it all finished soon.
  14. My Gt Grandad, who drowned on guard duty, on Newcastle Upon Tynes Swing Bridge, on a thick foggy night, 2nd May 1915, as the regiment was loading.
  15. Gt Uncle Willy Amour. 11th Btn DLI Went right through the war, most big battles, to the last big German Offensive in March 1918
  16. If anyone is after a knife, you won't get a better knife. At these prices they are given away.
  17. That G10 knife is very good indeed Matt. You must take care with that type of dust, wear a good dust mask.
  18. You will sell them no bother, but you need to be looking for horns with as much solid as possible , upto two thirds , and from old rams if you get any. I paid £20 per horn about 25 years ago, but they were good solid horns.
