I keep a bag of house coal for rainy days - when I can't be arsed going out to the wood store. You have to burn smokeless if you live at less than 500 feet above sea level, else you run the risk of a letter from Environmental, then maybe prosecution if you don't comply. But.. with most councils short on staff, you need to be dobbed in by a neighbour before they will react. If your stove isn't sealed or you are running an open fire, you can get black bogeys with house coal.

Have A Good Time At The Show Lads
PeskyWabbits replied to David.evans's topic in General Airgun Discussion
So where are people meeting and what times? We will be setting off early and subject to snow and the usual faffing about... we should get there for about 10am. I have promised my lady , there will be lots of fluffy dogs. -
Get an SMK and show us it is the shooter not the rifle. Or stick with one gun and be the master we all want to be.

Rez, will you still be sporting your 'interesting' moustache and beard combination?

Mine is on for an hour in the morning to make getting up bearable and a bit of hot water. Then 8pm to midnight. I usually cope with 500 litres November to March then maybe a top up of 300 litres. It all depends on the climate. If it rains all year then the laundry has to dry somehow If you can, have a stove. It lifts the temperature and makes your lounge nice to be in. Never worry about confidential waste and it is something to watch when the telly is crap, every day then. Have a warm lounge when you can't justify putting the heat on.

You lot still going to this? I am planning on heading down from Yorkshire on the Saturday morning.

My concern about wood pellets is that they are a processed fuel source. They are subsidised at present, but like solar, we have seen what happens. They are also mostly imported. Ok, so is oil but oil is used for all sorts. Isn't heating oil kerosene which is also aviation fuel.
-
Oil prices fluctuate across the year but you always have to shop around. Some companies will let you pre-order for delivery later in the year. I have a 1500 litre tank but usually only put about 500 litres in. I am near a main (country) road so there is always a theft risk, so losing 500 is better than losing 1000. My boiler was replaced in 2000 and feeds eight radiators of various sizes, 10 foot in the lounge, towel radiator in the bathroom. The water is heated at the same time in a traditional copper tank but I have an immersion heater for when the heat is off. The advantage of o

Hw80K Using Rws Superpoint Extra 22 On Woodys
PeskyWabbits replied to j j m's topic in Airgun Hunting
I agree with this, you may get some good results with pointed and they may cut through feathers but domes have been around for ever for a reason -
They are all pretty much the same, including oven cleaner. Watch for leaving them on too long as they use a strong chemical and watch where you apply them for that same reason. Make sure you can safely swill them away. Remember, any product that includes a reference to cars in its description will cost more than the household equivalent. If you do a lot of car work, get yourself a Halford's Trade Card. Go see the manager with a wadge of motor factor receipts and he will be happy to sign you up. They won't always be the cheapest but they have longer opening hours and will b

Hw80K Using Rws Superpoint Extra 22 On Woodys
PeskyWabbits replied to j j m's topic in Airgun Hunting
I use RWS almost exclusively in my Hw35. I used H&N Field Target Trophy for a little while as they worked in my Airsporter when Wasps went off the boil. Sadly my particular Airsporter wasn't consistent, not like the Hw35 of the same era. So that became a victim of my PCP fund along with my Webley Eclipse (superb rifle, everyone should try one once) -
Hw80K Using Rws Superpoint Extra 22 On Woodys
PeskyWabbits replied to j j m's topic in Airgun Hunting
Pellet quality is soooo much better these days, Remember Hustler with the twin rings and points that were sometimes off centre? And Wasps when they had the casting ridges? -
There are places on my bit of pasture where I know I can take a successful long shot. Out in the open, no chance but where there is continuous dry stone wall, acting as a wind break then I am good to go. Generally I stick to 15 to 20 strides, my built in range finder and the experience of shooting across the same land. I am no great marksman, probably why .22 works for me, but I get good results sticking to what I know. If you practice enough and know your limits, your 50 yards will be as good as my 20.

Right... What is it or should it be to make someone stand out, be a role model, a good example of a human being. For some reason actors/celebrities are pushed to the front. Why? Why pay any attention to some actor - Ewan McGregor recently spouting off recently... Why should anyone pay attention to actors. They live in a world of pretence. The words in films etc, aren't even theirs. When they are on some news programme giving their political opinion, what world experience do they have, or are they just in character again, or doing something to promote yet another piece of fiction for a

I am on my second pair of these Buckler Buckbootz. Pricey at £70 but you can shop around. I was miffed when the first pair leaked after 10 months but they had had a pigs gob round them on a few occasions. The second pair were new/unwanted off ebay and have lasted so far about 8 months. They are much better than standard rubber wellies and I would have another pair when these kark it. These have a steel toe and shank, so they stand up on their own. They are genuinely made in Scotland not like those overpriced Hunters (now just a brand and made in China) and even Muckboots are made

I have a few, all for leisure time. If I wore any for work they would all laugh themselves silly. How we can go from generations of smart hat wearers to a generation where holes in pants (not the ones your legs go through) are ok, where half your arse is hanging out, shoes without socks, and haircuts that must've been done in the dark. How? Hats are sensible. Keep the weather off your head, keep you warm, look the bee's knees when out in your suit. I do 1940s stuff and it is great. Everyone looks superb.

Insurance is a bit of a game. It is supposed to be about statistics with a profit margin bolted on. If you can figure out how to play it you can bring your costs down. £140 for car insurance? Doesn't sound too bad. Is that with excess? It is when you have to make a claim that you see their mettle. There are companies that I won't touch after bad experiences. Most are owned by the same people anyway so you can end up with a knock for knock scenario when you are blameless just because they are trying to recoup their losses. I was pranged up the arse once and my insurance assessor t

That's a good write up and lovely pictures. They should get you on the BBC. That would make the 'nature's pets' brigade choke on their decaff and green tea.

I would agree with this. They just don't get out. Often they are generations into farming and don't move out of farming circles, The job is physically and mentally demanding, dealing with death and disappointment. Hardened to collecting dead lambs, and seen as heartless by the general public, despite spending hours trying bring through weak animals or birds. So it is easy to see why they have this us and them mentality. Add to this the fly tipping, burnt out cars in bridle ways, vandalism, theft, sheep worrying, etc. Anyone strange near their land is associated with these acts. In m

That is good new Jimmy. You can go back to eating roast potatoes and biscuits. Have you tried chaining her to the bed? Well, not just at the full moon Best regards. Pleased for the good news.

I ask because a couple of years ago I acquired a large kit but have had to rehouse it recently. I like to do little sustainability projects but these days, is it really worth it?
-
It is very tempting to build one, or even a spotter to see what is lurking in the night. Going back to the original post, yes it clearly states the Contents List on page 2 of the 'instrutions' as they have put it. I think the poor bloke with his new company needs to get this changed sharpish. It isn't misleading it is completely wrong and invalidates every kit sale.

You could try this for ultimate bargain basement, though he does have teething troubles. It is a good example of a build and the solutions to common problems. http://nightvisionforumuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=13683 There seem to be a lot of start ups with what is becoming a standard build. I am tempted myself as I like the hobbyist ventures. It is the shooting stance that puts me off.
