That's a bargain. I hired one from HSS last year. I think they are about £400 new. Essential if you are putting wire on fencing. If no takers, get it on ebay.

/stoeger X20 Suppressor Air Rifle
PeskyWabbits replied to Steve Thomson's topic in General Airgun Discussion
this is like the thread we had at Christmas. If you can put a bit more in, or go for something second hand, you'll get a much better product. You'll love your first gun regardless of what you have, mine was a scruffy BSA Meteor. If you start with something quality, you will learn the skills of a lifetime. This was the thread http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/351566-need-help-buying-an-air-rifle/ And you can get an HW99 for £200 http://www.ronniesunshines.com/weihrauch-hw99s-air-rifle If you start with a Weihrauch, you may still have it 20 years on. -
But well done for doing it. Let us know the outcome.

If you do one a month or thereabouts, then you will build a stock. But storing it all can be a chore. Cellars and garages can be too cold. You need a spare room really, or the loft.

This is great. I haven't done wine for ages. I tend to have time for the start then it all goes awry at the racking stage. I think parsnip makes a pleasant, slightly thin wine. You can add banana skins to add body. I wish I was better organised.

Electric Fences - Mains Or Battery
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Cooking On The Wild Side
just found these, wouldnt be hard to build something similar for a fraction of the cost http://shop.electricfencing.co.uk/shop/42/62/2469/security-box-for-energisers-with-stand Almost tempted to get a scrap car and lock the thing in the boot. Not very neighbour friendly though. -
Half a lamb! Jeez. Keep that picture for when the RSPCA are releasing foxes into the countryside. Or send it to Countryfile so they can see what really happens in the countryside.

Electric Fences - Mains Or Battery
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Cooking On The Wild Side
Yes they are, and if someone can see a run of fencing from a road then they may be tempted to bob over the wall and make off with my box of tricks. I had thought of burying the energiser but that could cause me problems. If I use my shed, I will still have to run a live feed from the house to the shed. Then the insulated cable top the energiser. The shed wouldn't be bullet proof but there are things you can do. chuffin criminals. Eastern Europeans gangs are the current bad uns round here. -
Electric Fences - Mains Or Battery
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Cooking On The Wild Side
Another option would be to run an extension to a shed half way up the field, then run the connecting wire from there. The theft and batteries going flat are my main concerns. -
This thread is great. Wow, it takes me back. So many of these books were read over and over. I will also add 'Stig of the Dump' and 'Wind in the Willows'. I knew Roald Dahl was popular but didn't realise that so many others enjoyed 'Danny Champion of the World' it seemed so different, realistic, from the talking foxes, insects and fruit of unusual dimensions. I remember Brendon Chase when they put it on the telly. I could just about get home to watch it, and get scolded for not coming to the table for tea. Does anyone remember Martin Rattler? Pesky

Simon, yes it is a beech stock. It was surprisingly inexpensive as well, this was from a gunsmith at less than private sale money. It looked pretty grotty when I picked it up and shows signs of a lot of use. I wiped it over with a WD40 cloth and it has perked up nicely. It also shoots very well. I'm using RWS Superfield. They worked in my HW35 and seem ok in this. I use Air Arms Diablo in my neglected .177 Prosport - though I will probably use it in the Summer. I have too many guns. Or should I say, too many different guns. A sensible person should only have one gun. Each addition

Apologys, I think I was rambling -
Hello, last year's pig project was close to the house and I used a borrowed mains energiser. This year, the field is about 300 yards from the house. How viable is running a cable alongside a dry stone wall this kind of distance? There will be a raised bit at the start then a long run to the field. I am considering mains because these will be pigs and they may work out when the battery has less current. Also i don't want the energiser getting knicked. My alternative would be to bury a battery energiser close to the electric fence and have a reasonably secure but still acces

Will you be able to store it? Can you allocate a regular day for spending time on it? The hardest part is starting though. It is all achievable but if this is your first restoration, it may be worth seeing how much they go for when finished. A restoration is a big commitment on time and money, but mainly time. And a destroyer of relationships

When Did It Change?
PeskyWabbits replied to Newlife2's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I'm not following that, we are there already, and UK manufacturers (not many left) already make plenty of FAC guns! Sorry, I badly worded it. I think because almost everything in day to day life needs some kind of permit, eventually every airgun will need some kind of register. Then who will go for a sub 12 foot pound gun? So the majority will move up a spec. Yes there are manufacturers that do FAC now but the market will increase and the standard fare will benefit from the improvements in production that allow for stability under increased power. Does that make sense, or am I ra -
When Did It Change?
PeskyWabbits replied to Newlife2's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
i think things changed with commonplace PCPs and spring underlevers that were tapless. When Air Arms morphed from Sussex Armoury they were producing quality kit but still using a tap. After the HW77, we got the Webley Eclipse, BSA Superstar, Diana Firebird 52. Triggers and loading mechanisms were suddenly being taken seriously. The explosion of FT competitions seemed to give the industry a jolt. Airguns were suddenly acceptable. I think the future will be regulators in PCPs as standard and maybe licencing to allow the development of 12fp + Lets's face it. The 12 foot pound lim -
Yep. Had to sand the whole cheek piece by hand as well. I just wish air arms would do the ambi kinda thing that HW do. Along with a 'either side' loading breech. I think the barrel would fall off if they cut any more out of the breech. Pro Sports have the handy drop through feature. It would work with the TX200 though. It can't be a copyright thing these days as everyone is at it.

Thanks very much for these pics of your Prosport Peskywabbits. I can see the cheek weld has a flow-line into the grip or "wrist" that can be sanded down and smoothed away to make a left hand palm-swell. But would you kindly show more pics of how the left side of the butt-stock has been filed and smoothed away please? I'm now seriously contemplating buying a Prosport and modifying the stock, if it can be filed down to make a comfortable left-cheek rest I can shoot comfortably with. Another benefit of removing the roll-over and lowering the comb of the butt-stock is that I can maximise a sm

This is my ambidextrous .22 Pro Sport. I bought it like this from my local gunsmith. Thankfully I am right handed but I would never have been brave enough to do this to what many believe to be a work of art. You can see why I have a problem loading. That scope is a whopper!

My Series III is 43 years old. I got it because I like old cars, like Land Rovers, like British cars and because it was fit for purpose. I have a smallholding and use it as a farm truck. I also go cutting trees down and any car you can put sections of tree trunk in the back of must be good. Yes it is thirsty - 12 mpg. It is an ex-RAF gun carriage, but I have used it to tow tractors and wagons out of muddy fields. Yes it is uncomfortable - like riding in a horse and cart Yes, almost, everybody wants one It is fit for purpose. Even I can mend it if it breaks. It doesn't break that of

Pro Sports are deservedly popular and maybe I haven't yet got the knack of loading from all angles. The balance is perfect. When I had a TX200, I found it to be be a bit nose heavy. My Pro Sports are definitely keepers. I know I don't do enough shooting, life just gets in the way. Rez, didn't you have a 'shabby chic' Pro Sport, that stank of WD40?
