Jeez Underdog, you shoot so many rabbits, I expect to see you in a rabbit suit

Those with their own equipment are waiting for the second cut of hay/silage. Those who are in the queue are waiting for the rain to stop.

My 2p It depends on the type of farm. Grass and arable - Now is a bad time as too long to see anything. Poor results and little evidence to prove your worth to the farmer. Cows, sheep and horses - probably a good time all year round. Rabbits make holes that livestock fall down - ankles, not the hole animal before anyone starts (twats) Poultry/fowl - it depends. Summer, everything is in bloom, loads of food around, so you don't see as many rats. Some birds are late at sprogging, so lose out to rats and magpies - so opportunities here. Nurseries - Spring and Summer are your rabbit opport

Do We Have A Guide On Pcp Ownership?
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I am thinking of joining the dark side. Trying to justify it really. I am really happy with my Pro Sport and my Hw35. But sometimes you need to reload quickly for that second rabbit, or another rat, or etc And we have loads of advice for buying 'my first air rifle' which for cost and convenience is always a springer but not a first PCP So can someone clarify the air bottle situation. The ebay ones say just tested and the date is 2 years away. And are all whips the same, with just the adapter for the air rifle cylinder being different. -
Yes, crime is a big issue on farms. You can't trust anyone and you daren't sell stuff from home in case people come to see what else you have. You can't be at home all the time.

I mean that covers what's involved in ownership. This is what I know: They are recoilless - hurray You have to fill them - boo You can use a pump but it takes effort - boo A pump without a filter can cause rust in the innards - boo You can use a tank but they are £150 and need checking every two years at £50? - boo Tanks are hernia inducing heavy to move around - boo They are usually multishot - hurray They usually have a long barrell but are more compact - hurray They are lighter - hurray They are chuffin expensive - boo The seals go on them - boo Not all gunsmiths will service/

Another thing. I got my energiser from Mole Valley. It is a dual mode type. So you can run it from mains or leisure battery. If you are running an extension outside from a shed, etc. You need armoured mains cable, this is usually UV protected and water proof. The link wire from the energiser to the fence can be single core coax type but don't kink it as it can snap within the insulation. If you are using a battery, you may have to consider some kind of security. I'm using a galv dustbin nailed on to a pallet. I pinned the pallet down and also put big rocks in the base of the bin. I keep the feed in those small blue containers with a snap tight top. Like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Ltrs-PLASTIC-BARREL-Metal-Ring-Lid-/252445847754?hash=item3ac6f1f0ca:g:u1YAAOSwkEVXGBh6 I got mine locally so no post cost and they were £6 each and so far have been intruder proof I am currently feeding wheat pellets at £9 a 20kg sack and greens from my veg patch. Last year it cost £200 per pig but i think I over fed them a little. They were 14 and 18 stone (appx) each. At slaughter. This is what it looks like now. I think pigs are actually easier to keep than hens, it is

I have 6x 15 week old weaners in an electric fence enclosure. They legged it through when they first arrived but no other escape attempts. I am using an 8'x10' ark and have a sun shade/wind block wall made from pallets with plywood nailed on. They have a mud bath made from the base of an IBC and sunk in to the ground and I also have 3 large diameter but only 7" deep trugs as their water supply. They also lie in these. The picture below is from when they had been here a week. They have modified it a bit now. I go round with my strimmer to keep the grass short around the fence. The grass

What did you use as a gasser? A chainsaw running rich?

Drawn in by food. Good results. I am up to 3 now but they are staying away, which really is the whole point. They are harassing a thrush's nest down the road and sit on the pig wall watching the soil being upturned.

For Sale Webley Eclipse .22 In Mint Condition £250 Ono
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
Thanks, it shoots really well but it is too nice for me to take into the fields. Price is negotiable. -
Sorry, missing links for the end plugs: http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/brass-adapter-m22-m10-x-1mm-with-plug brass http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/aluminium-modular-insert-m10-x-1-female-thread ally. You can always paint it black. A bodge may irk you, but you won't see it from the firing end.

That is a really unusual thread size. If you can't find the real thing, there are some bodges if you are really desperate. I would be fitting the Tin Bum baffle kit while I was at it. They are about £12 with postage http://www.airrifletuning.com/instructions/hw97-baffle-kit-installation-guide/

Chally, can you put up a picture of your barrel end? To give us some perspective. And what serial number is it? The early 97s were different. Thanks

These are great, you're good at capturing the moment

Just right for sitting out and sipping while the sun goes down

Did you know that Lager translates as longer, as in, it is brewed for longer. But I prefer nice weak beer that you can drink all night without falling over. Something like an IPA (India Pale Ale, was brewed for troops across in India. Not too strong, averages 3. Sorry, I have anorak tendencies Pesky

Webley Eclipse .22 In mint, or near mint condition. Stock has been lengthened - to suit my extra long arms - with an infill piece that can easily be removed. Comes with factory silencer and Nikko Sterling Gold Crown Deluxe 8x56 scope and mounts. These are lovely guns, easily as good as a TX200 but a lot lighter. Face to Face preferred. £250 ono. I am near Halifax, West Yorkshire -
Now the whole story has come out, it is just idiots shooting indoors. I think the little 'un was hit by a ricochet. At least when my brother and I played Ultra Violent Subbuteo, we had the sense to do it outside.

You will get dazzled on a sunny day. Don't SMK do a silver scope? -
Mini didn't pass the MOT but just failed on headlight aim and a track rod end. So easy stuff really. Wish I'd spent a bit of time in prepping my bike for the journey from the garage to work, so rusty chain meant stuck in one gear for 4 miles. But at least I had another serving of rabbit stew for lunch. Probably have the same tomorrow too.
