Kanny, you just beat the curse of 2016. Glad you're ok.
-
Sooooo..... What did you get?
-
You are a true craftsman Mark. Though that stock makes my eyes go funny.

Got to be more than that as my Hw100KT was £650 but that was from a dealer and appx 1 year old. The convenience of a full get up and go set up must jack the price up. £700 plus I reckon.

My Hw77K Review And Future Plans
PeskyWabbits replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this post. I am impressed by Richard's 'warts and all', that he admitted he hadn't checked everything. I would have been caught out here as well. We done guys. It has been a good read. -
Merry Christmas to each and every one. Hope everyone gets a bit of time to go out. Especially when 'normal' folks are hypnotised by the TV.

Best Spring Powered Air Rifle
PeskyWabbits replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Richard, I have two Pro Sports, both calibres. A Hw97, An HW100 and a Hw35 - 1983 version. If I had to choose which to keep it would be the Hw35. I have had it so long, I know it. Pick it up, shoot it. Handles really well, Solid but not too heavy. Accurate enough for me and my pick up and go, hunting gun, Rez, maybe you should drop your Hw80 lust and get a Hw35. The barrel catch means you can fit a sling and carry it all day without the barrel breaking open. The modern ones are easily legal limit. It is a proper sturdy rifle. But the Pro Sports are amazing. The quality is awesome. My -
Are you using PC or mobile to add pictures? Your best method is to use a picture hosting site like Photobucket and that ilk. There is a tutorial on here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/286367-photobucket-tutorial/ and here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/page/index.html/_/hunting-news/adding-forum-images-using-photobucket-r42 if you are still struggling, post again. We don't all work on PCs so it is no big deal

Rez, why did you sell your original Hw98? Isn't the 98 a HW95 with an adjustable stock and a heavy shrouded barrel? The cylinder and rest of it will be 95. So your options are more likely to be a gun as heavy as the underlever you already have - HW80 A gun with adjustable stock and heavy barrel, that will be too heavy to lug aroud so you will use it in the back garden or on sitting and waiting forays. Or get an HW95 that makes the most sense but you don't really fancy. Or an imp that you were so impressed with earlier in the year. If selling your 98 was on financial grou

My source of apples have been friends, neighbours and people at work. Like most fruit and veg, people can't cope with a glut. Pigs aren't choosy, so you can really take advantage. With a veg patch, you can keep changing what is planted but a fruit tree is pretty permanent. The early fruit stages aren't really enough but a more mature tree, well that is a lot of apples. I would keep fruit trees either away from the pigs, or well protected. It will be a substantial tree that can withstand a pigs attentions. My pigs would dig two foot deep holes. That is bad news for a young tree.

Get the 98 in .177 then when your Mrs is carrying and you've no time to go hunting, you can compete with paper punching. Then get an when the toddler is keeping your Missus busy and you can escape outside You must be near 30 now and she will have started on about kids, 'cos all her friends have them. But I think the will become your daily driver.

Passive drinking is less miserable than passive smoking. As kids we would sit in the back of the Singer Vogue then Ford Cortina Mk4 with sore streaming eyes while Ma and Pa chain smoked through Benson & Hedges.

Butchering Costs - Pig
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
That is the other thing. My 76 bags weren't all the same stuff. Sow & Weaner, Turbo, Super, Finisher. They all have (slightly) different protein levels. I think S&W is 16%, then 19%, 22% then down to 15% for finisher. But it varies per brand I think I would put up with a level protein amount if I could reduce the cost significantly. -
Apples are always popular. They crop at the tail end of the pig year when the porkers are eating their most. Apples are a good way to sweeten the meat.

I planted Jerusalem artichokes in last year's pig field. It isn't so much that they grow quickly, as much as they spread out. So you get a good yield and the pigs will have to furrow them out. This years pigs weren't fond of the few swedes I gave them. They knocked them around like toys and only bit occasionally. I think turnips may get similar treatment.

I agree with the above. Would this be a long term keeper? I don't think people are queuing up for these. If it was a second hand bargain, maybe but I think if you got one then changed your mind, it would be a second hand bargain for someone else. HW100 are 14 shots of accurate fun. Loads about. Hold their prices and everyone wants one. HW101 er?

Hw100 Recoil?
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Thank you very much to Smithie on here. He lent me a Combro which I have used on all my rifles. The HW100 is averaging 10 foot pounds. I am surprised it is so low. This must be because I am a top of hill dweller and the altitude is affecting everything. AA Diablo Field 10.13 Pink Wasp 10.16 Blue Wasp 9.45 H&N Hollowpoint 9.65 RWS Super H Point 9.58 RWS Superdome 10.03 RWS Superfield 10.18 Webley Lazapell 9.96 Bisley Magnum 10.32 The pellet weights are manufacturers figures. My weighing scales are calibrated for making buns not tiny bits of lead. Thank you for all t -
Hw100 Recoil?
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I think you are right Rez. I shot topless and it didn't have any recoil So I put the sight back on but moved forward and no recoil either -
I have a friend with one. FIAT based but different enough to make servicing tricky. Custom ignition components etc. Some spares just not available over here.

Butchering Costs - Pig
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Mark, there is Keith Drake at Honley https://www.yell.com/biz/keith-drake-ltd-holmfirth-996667/ My six pigs went through 76 bags. Which is about 2 tonnes. I haven't approached them yet for bulk buying. Another option is to club together with other small holders to get a better price. I am now pigless. The last one went on Wednesday. -
My moderns have been the worst cars. Vauxhall Frontera 1998. Couldn't park it on a slope as there was always some air in the fuel system, so it wouldn't start. I persisted with sorting the problems out. Speedo was intermittent. Mainly didn't work but would spring into life at 45 mph then die again. I had to use a GPS speedo off ebay. Radius arm bracket snapped off the chassis, so that was that. The rear chassis members let water in but not out. I had a VW Golf diesel 1999. The door handles!! The mechanisms would fail, so open rear door and lean through to open driver's door. Till that

Hw100 Recoil?
PeskyWabbits replied to PeskyWabbits's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I will ask Santa for a Combro. I tried pumping it tonight but it is more of a struggle than usual. Not had chance to fire it. Will update tomorrow. Thanks for the advice -

I was out last night trying to zero in my borrowed night sight - it is an ATN monster. Like having a 3 litre coke bottle on top of the rifle. Anyway. It wasn't going well and after the third magazine, something changed. Recoil. Detectable recoil. Not like a spring gun but definitely there. The pressure is still in the green zone. The pellets are the right way round in the magazine. I don't think there is a blockage. What do you reckon? It is an HW100 KT .22 about 2 years old but I have had it about 3 months. Thank you Pesky
