  1. no lablad i wrote it meaning that not every dog makes the grade on hunting ability. would love it if three made it but time will tell which of the pups will not come half way with me. all the best macker
  2. me my self the most running dogs i have had is four. three got injured that season and was stuck with a very good deerhound cross bitch bitch that never got injured and she came into heat. all the lurchers where used for lamping digging and coursing. and i found it was hard to keep them with no injurys and all working. when i was more into coursing and alit more hares to run. i tought it was better to have three hare dogs rather than have one as better to rotate them rather than over run one. have three lurcher pups at this time with a bit of luck two will make decent alrounders. t

    DOG SHIT

is this where the word shit hound comes from? my own dog does it now and again but has stopped now i hope for all the reasons out for the cause of this i think it just boils down to "some pups just like shit"
  5. i think if hares are what you are after then a wippet might be the wrong choice . and would age fairly quickly. still they are nice to watch run. and have seen some small bitches get kicked of a hare. still good crack with them.
  6. had my time with the wippets. had some great crack with them. tough they are limited. have dug to a wippet too. tough he enetered after the terrier to my amazment he was still in grips with a large fox when we dug down. gave him a couple of foxes and caught one in a ditch on his own when i got in the fox was winning but he still had hold after it i noticed the fox had left his face in a bad way. not just a couple of punctures . sice then it is my opinion that it not fair on wippets to hunt fox. tought they will try they will sour as even the big dogs bred for do sour some times.w
  7. well done nice dogs too. are you sure thats a full greyhound. just looks a cracking coursing bitch. either way all the best with your dogs macker
  8. have seen some very good ones and some bad ones the same with any breed. a bit of bull and even some saluki can work wonders too. my friends have a fair few of them. some fairly good ones too. the thing i like about them their nose and lunacy. just you have to be firm with them when stock breaking some times. and as with all the other crosses better to do it when young. all the best macker

    WANKERS

this type of crap starting topics called wankers is bringing this site to a new low. weather right or wrong in the agrument and my own opinion is that i too cant understand what its all about. has to be more in pms or something if there is more to it could some one put it up. i would of deleted this thread if i had the power to do so. all this heat and no hunting is messing with our heads macker
  11. in ireland i think the hare population fall. is due to fox population exlosion since the fur trade stopped. nothing to do with coursing hare on their own land in my opinion. most hare dogs only cull the week and only the special few that will kill the stongest hares all year round in good numbers. there was a little note about bull island . which is not too far from me . used to see forthy and fifty hares down there as a young lad. and they slowly dissipeared. they blamed it on rising tides in our local paper which does have alot of anti comments on it. never once did the mention t

    imported

i know what you mean oldschool. my heart is with those american stags like the ones kye of this site. they really are like the old type deerhounds that used to be around me .if i had one of those dogs i would be the happiest man in ire. i think getiing sperm sent over would be good and cheeper. its a pity about the strict laws we have in this country. the place is just up the road from me that does the quarrantene. just the money and paper work is a nightmare and if everything is not right the dog will be sent back or put to sleep

have been thinking of impoting a dog from america my self the last year and a half . its not easy living in ireland . six months quarrantene if you live here snoop. if living in england you can get away with quarrintene. but there still is a fair bit of paper work. here is some info for you on this site i hope its some use. http://www.movetoireland.com/movepag/petbrit.htm
  14. thanks alot ricky. that solved that one for me just its easy to keep the colour black as white coloured dogs can dissipear in a line. its amazing how thing work out when breeding. would never of tought that the dams parents where both white. was thinking one of her grand parents might of been. cracking bitch too she is . thanks for the info
  15. cracking pups hope they do the job for you. if you dont mind me asking is there russel in the mother too its just any of the litters i have seen so far with terriers black crossed with white the out come is usually mostly balack litter with the odd red one or white one in the litter. never seen more white pups than black ones in a litter. not that the colour matters just some of my friends like white coloured dogs but have not been as lucky as you. best of luck with them anyway macker

  18. as a young lad i used to struggle to get dogs into my parents house every dog i brought to the house was found in a ditch . funny enough i ended up finding a cracking lurcher pup while huntind foxes on a dump. no one believed me which was the first time i told the truth. best of luck with you mate getting a pup i was a young lad my self wanting a lurcher for some time before the parents gave in to me. and was not to long after my first dog. that they realised i was never in trouble when the dog was with me. hope your mate gets his dog some time soon as there is not much these d
