  1. I think it is to do with how deep within any structure the nest is. If you get the dust actually onto the nest it's quite quick. But if the nest is further back, even if you stick the rod deep into the entrance, you still aren't getting any directly on the nest, therefore longer to die.
  2. It's a nice theory, but for that to work they would need to have the traps set up before the season really kicks off, and how many places are willing to proactively look for (and more importantly pay for) wasp control? In my experience not very many. Whether it would work in practice is debatable, and I don't know if any of you have ever discussed anything with Karol from Waspbane? He could argue the back legs off a donkey. We have a local Lido, and even in past years when there have been few wasps around, it seems for some reason to be blighted with them. What do they do about it? Sod all
  3. Wasps nest in a blinking wardrobe. Sorted it and took off suit, one the blighters managed to sneak out and got me on the top of the head right in front of customer. Much jigging around ensued, managed to hold off on naughty words. Now have a nice headache.
  4. Their theory is that wasps returning and finding the nest dead do not enter and so survive elsewhere. Without food source inside the nest they become "Scottish", desperate for a drink and up for a Barney. I made the Scottish bit up. But these homeless wasps are responsible for mugging people outside pub's, BBQ's etc etc.
  5. There's plenty more around this year than the last few. I've already done probably three times as many as last year and it's still early. Seen loads around taking wood off fences and sheds.
  6. You are a more tolerant person than I.
  7. Now that would pi££ me off so bad I would not be able to work there.
  8. It's a shame, I used to enjoy reading Karol's endless diatribes. Not.
  9. I don't know. I had a run of jobs where I really struggled. I wondered if they had been caught and released elsewhere....I heard of a number of pest controllers doing that with foxes because they couldn't dispatch em so who knows...one had eaten through a joist like a bloody beaver! So it had to go asap...I then think I messed a job up by feeding a sub lethal dose and perhaps causing a bait aversion. Was a learning curve after spending 20 years catching squirrels without issue. Is it possible the traps you were using had become contaminated? I don't clean mine very often, but then aga
  10. Don't forget some advice to everyone on how to run a business, some sage words about profit, informing us that bolt guns are section 1, or maybe advice on how to catch rats???
  11. I've never had to use it for squirrels. What made them difficult?
  12. Don't exaggerate, it's only 98!!! I must admit, he seems to give everyone advice on how to do stuff, and he's a tit, so yes I don't like him.
  13. Well, that is a new one on me. Fortunately Shropshire, if I made one mistake, it is nothing compared to the many many stupid and ill informed things you have posted. You have the pride of place of the biggest idiot on this forum.
  14. Warfarin poison may only be deployed out of doors against grey squirrels for tree protection. If you don't know what you are talking about, its best to say nothing.
  15. I thought I would give my probably unwanted opinion on this topic, as I have read quite a few people commenting on how no one is willing to give advice to others on a variety of subjects. So, let me say that if this were strictly a DIY forum then I would give my advice, as when I am out seeing customers I always do help them this way. However, on a forum where a lot of people are charging or claiming they are charging members of the general public for the "expert" work, why should I? There are many people on this forum who have spent years learning skills, whether it is trapping moles,
  16. Mr Tea Pot - does that mean he didn't actually pay you any cash? I took some mates clay shooting once, the fella who ran the site had a monstrous rat problem, he asked me to take care of it and he would give me free clays. I told him to sod off.
  17. If the crows are already dead the chances are they will ignore the rotator.
  18. Got the wrong end of the stick, sorry. However, difficult to imagine flamingos proving dangerous to native species
  19. It'll up root your caravan mate. No wait a minute...
  20. "non natives"? Anyone not from "round 'ere"? Charming.
  21. Penguins are dangerous ba$tards, everyone knows that. Just ask Batman.
  22. That looks similar to the one I bought. Only thing is you can get condensation on lens if weather is damp, misty or wet. Other than that it works a treat.
  23. Trail cameras are dirt cheap these days...
  24. So, some rich fella has bought 4 so that he can get them breeding and have some on his estate. Problem is, in just a few day old foxy or possibly an otter has got one and made a nice breakfast out of it. One of you local lads need to offer your services for fox control, or work out some way of keeping them pesky otters away. Google it to find the story.
