Dobbiesferrets replied to Dobbiesferrets's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
If you had a permission that was overgrown to the point ferreting would be a pain in the arse would you do a few hours clearence. (Owner permitting ) a couple of days before hand or just do a bit hear and there on the day? -
Theres a lot more game shoots in west sussex. Not sure if we Have any . But the keepers and underkeppers keep their shoots coveted. I worked on a farm for about 8 yrs voluntary to gain experience and then to help out the farmer being a friend. Hoping he might let me shoot but hes so funny with guns he wont let me even with ferreting its a case of ok you can ferret on tuesday along the bottom of the valley. It makes my sport somewhat restricted. Ive been looking for permission for about 10yrs now and still no luck. My mate has perm from eastbourne right up to cuckmere and he still wants mor

Dobbiesferrets replied to Dobbiesferrets's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks guys. Yeh i had my licence revoked about 4-5yrs ago. A slight family disagreement and my brother phones the police.i was arrested and after an hour or so in the cell i was told i would sign a piece of paper saying a family disagreement took place and police shouldnt have been called. When i asked if i should let my feo know. They spoke to me like shit " why would you have a gun" having to explain why i had a licence. I was then left for another 2hrs and quistioned. Forced to take caution for assaults which i hadn't commited. Its a long story but after accepting the charges ive now real -
Has anyone else found it hard to find new oermissions. I currently have a 560acre farm i can ferret that a friend owns. Ive been given permission after about 8yrs of voluntary work helping him out. And ive found another small farm i can ferret but no where seems to give permission for shooting from air rifle to liveround from 410 to 12. And even those who have rabbit problems seem reluctant to speak to you. Has anyone got any advice or tips for finding and obtaining new permissions. Cheers guys

I believe it was last year my mate said he was pulling babies out in December. If we start seeing babies all year round the spades will start getting worn out. Could this spell the beginning of the end for ferreting -
I have posted another topic about re applying for a cert after a revocation. But now im wondering if anyone who has had mental health problem or lives with someone with mental health problems has been successful with their applications. I dont have mental health problems but my partner does and takes medication for it. She doesnt have suicidal thoughts or anything but she can get very overwhelmed by very simple things, most of this has been triggered by medical problems. But as i said i dont suffer with these issues and i would be taking steps such as putting the cabenet in the loft so its wel

Well where do I start. I held my 1st certificate at 17yrs old. And following the death of my brother after his battle with cancer my whole family went a bit funny and we argued alot. Before 1 year had past i left my family home to set up hime with my partner and new baby boy. This seemed to put my family in a tight spot as i did all the house work cooking repairs and dog walking etc. Because they had to pick up the jobs i used to do tempers flared abit. But i was only 19 trying to keep my job and look after my family and still be there for my mum, siblings and grandparents. However a slight ar

Hi all . Went ferreting this morning on a small bury but couldnt believe the entire area was covered in 4ft high stinging nettles. Now i havent been out for a few years due to other family commitments. But having eagerly awaited this season i had hoped to be out on a nice nippy morning with all the undergrowth and foliage having died of. But today so much growth about is unbelievable. So i guess the seasons dont quite resemble the ones of my youth. But my quistion is if you have to ferret a overgrown area do you or could you slash / cut back the growth (permitted of course ) and if so when p
