Increase of prices of pellets over the years
philpot replied to mitre's topic in General Airgun Discussion
SMK are the cheapest because they are shite along with Gamo not far behind and what the hell are 'Bulls Eye' pellets, some other crap no doubt. As for pellets lodged in the barrel, never normally an issue unless someone has loaded more than one pellet. .25 pellets are bigger than a .22 barrel............................well well well who would have thought that. Not really sure what you are saying to be honest. phil -
FWB 124 or Weihrauch 77? Replacing a stolen rifle
philpot replied to Bornagainyorkshire's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I had one and I was bloody useless with it until one of our members on here tuned it for me, my god it was a tack driver when he had finished so much so that even I was able to put pellet on pellet and I am just not a springer man....................as one or two on here will tell you . Phil -
I borrowed a Beretta 682 Gold, black action, 30'' sporter to try out. I took it to Cockets Farm ground yesterday to put it through its paces, I had forgotton just how good these guns are, this one has had little use still having a tight action closure/opening and my god did it feel good. I shot it on both english sporting stands and fitasc targets with very pleasing results. I used my usual cartridges, Eley Superbs 7.5 and 1/4 chokes, really good kills even though I would prefer 3/8 chokes but they were not in the bundle although if I buy it, I will be looking to get some 3/8 chokes if possibl

I have had the Impact in Pickering Guns for new seals all round, new reg, servicing and resetting the power level. On Saturday we had the drive over to Pickering to collect the gun, now running at 55fpe with JSB King Heavy Mk11 33.94gr. I fitted the Airmax Compact SF back on and today popped over to the rfd to set an initial zero at 25mt as a start point ready for when these bloody winds bugger off so I can work it out to 100mt without a 50mph running sideways across the area I use for gun / pellet testing. Another brilliant reason for going to Pickering is to call in Pickering Farm Shop wh

There is A1 target range in Doncaster, not far away. Worth getting in touch with Redbeck in Wakefield for local knowledge on both guns and where to shoot and that is of course even closer for you. Redbeck Shooting Supplies | Airguns, air rifles and accessories WWW.AIRRIFLESHOP.CO.UK Buy discount airguns, air rifles, airrifle pellets and airgun scopes online. By the way welcome aboard James. FWB 124 or Weihrauch 77? Replacing a stolen rifle
philpot replied to Bornagainyorkshire's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have no idea about springers but we do have a guy, Mark Williams, who has two FWB which he uses for hunting and swears by them so a good person to talk to. He has been ill so I will give him a message and get him on the case for you. Phil -
It's a bloody shame Stav because that used to be a cracking show but I suspect the sheer cost of taking a stand will be high year on year and they must be changing the whole show for it to be a success at Stoneleigh. I wonder if the Doncaster show will step up to the mark and get a bit bigger. For a couple of years a few from this forum met at the show which was great but with ill health and life burdens it has gone by the wayside. All good things seem to come to an end. Phil

At the last minute we had to cancel our visit to the show and I gave the tickets away however I have heard from a few reviews on another forum that the show was rubbish so perhaps we didn't miss to much.

Is anyone heading to Harrogate for the National Shooting show this weekend. I have tickets and will be going on Saturday all being well with the boss so we will see what she is going to buy me although having spent a fair bit of cash on remodelling the garden this last week, not sure there is any money left for buying shooting stuff BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. The other two places I can think of is BBS Airgun forum and AGF forum failing that it is worth a call to City Airweapons in Lincoln as they are Rapid people.

Have you tried the Rapid forum as some of those guys have all kinds of Rapid related stuff. Phil

Not an Air Sporter looking at the underside so if it is a BSA then I guess it is a Mercury. Phil

The Marmite Gun Hw57 Tune Up
philpot replied to mattybugeye's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Welcome aboard matey, you are a little late in your response in fact 10 years too late but never mind. I do like the 57 and had a few over the years and wouldn't mind getting another, for some reason they never really found strong favour in the UK. Phil -

FX DRS HD. Walnut stock. Anyone use one?
philpot replied to pianoman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Following this conversation on a bit further and I have just had a chat with my rfd who advised me that they HAVE had a few with issues although he did not say what happened so not quite as faultless as it first seemed. Phil -
FX DRS HD. Walnut stock. Anyone use one?
philpot replied to pianoman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hello Simon, so good to see you on here again as it seems a long time ago mate, hope you are keeping well my friend. To the matter in hand, my shooting buddy has both the .177 and .22 in FX DRS and love them. I have had a few shots with them on our range and I was quite impressed with accuracy. I can't remember the distance but I think it was 40yds using the .177, he bought the .22 later. As a sub 12 gun and cheaper than both the HW 100 and 110 so good value for money from the FX stable. It must be said that I called in an RFD in the Scarborough area who told me that he didn't se -
Well I am pleased for you Mike, hang on to it as it sounds like you have got a good one..... Phil

Sunday afternoon I was taking the impact for some sunbathing rabbit sport but as I topped up the gun with air, a hiss could be heard, from the 250 bar fill it dropped the pressure until it reached 200 bar then looked stable so I took it anyway. It was of course dropping all the time but at a slower rate, overnight it was down to under 50bar so a new set of seals is needed. Now the gun has been sat in the rfd stock room untouched for over 2 years so I am not surprised to see this problem and as it was running at 41fpe it is a bit on the low side as mu old one was sat at 52fpe and I do want to
