    Mitch has beaten me to it Dave but I paid £36 including a £3 extra for a membership card which is worth saying, on the back gives all the benefits including payout values so good to be able to show the farmer actual cover there and then. Learn BASC learn..... Phil

    I looked at some Hawke low converters which work on the same method as BKL mounts and only about 5mm thick as I wanted them on my Sako Quad as the dovetail rails are an odd size for scope mounts. Phil

    I just joined 'Country Cover Club' insurance which gives me £100,000 for legal cover as I dropped out of basc after they dropped legal cover. I now believe we need that cover to protect ourselves and our passion for this sport as the vast majority of shooting men and women are staying within the law so police forces must be taken to task if innocent members of our sport are to be victimised in this way.     With the HMR scopes, are they based on zeroing at a certain distance/ mag. Hawke also make a .22 rimfire as well but I thought they a bit restricting in use from what I had heard. Phil

    Or even a 455 perhaps. Must admit I by far prefer the Tikka in terms of handling and the fact that I can swap forend and grip to suit me was a bonus. If it turns out that the hmr rifle get a fair bit of use, I may well go for another Tikka, Phil

    Just picked up some ammo yesterday afternoon and as the dovetail rail is a funny size, I am popping to the rfd to find a dovetail to weaver rail as I prefer weaver anyway. I put the 007v onto my Tikka with OUR scope on...................really bad interference in the viewer to the point I could not tell the difference between the tree line starting and the ground finishing. I then put it on an Airmax Compact, much better but not as good as my pal's image.     One other point to thow into the pot, the importer, whose name I cannot recall, were as much use as a chocolate fireguard and suggested it was my fault I was having issues with the reg, over filling with air causing the problems so I guess all the owners whose guns were at Airtech, all over filled their guns.     I will just expand my thoughts on the RM8 having owned one, please note 'OWNED'. These guns are front end heavy with a 19'' barrel and steel air bottle, with a scope and possibly nv fitted, they are a dead weight. They are accurate but a great many including mine had reg issues, mine ran from 11.6 - 9.3fpe, I did contact Airtech to see what he could do, he said he had six on the bench with the same problems. Airtech were making new custom regs and the fix apart from the reg was to cut the barrel down (sorry I can't remember to what length) and fit a BSA R10 aluminium air bottle with a t

    Shooting corvids, a great passion of mine and had not thought of using the hmr for that but at distance, that could be good fun. I took a few out yesterday with my air / fac in the wind, very satisfying. Does the wind cause issues for hmr, I never found it a real problem with wmr but have heard hmr being bad in the wind however of course I have no personal knowledge.........yet. Phil

    Forgive my ignorance Mitch but don't you get new adapters with the pard. When we were testing the 'v' it seemed to be much better result than my pal's 'a' version on the Hawke Airmax Compact which we have 5 of between us. Do you think it is simply not compatable with FFP scope. Phil

    I am quite surprised as that shop always used to have a good name but that attitude is just out of order. You have to bear in mind we are dealing with The Sportsman Gun Co which is a bad move anyway but FX took the bad decision to entrust these twats with the FX agency sooooooooooo because they said there is nothing wrong with the gun means fcuk all, do not trust a word they say and they have fixed the problem and inferred there was nothing wrong. If the Crown is now operating correctly, just enjoy it and change your rfd. Phil

    I know Federal is a massive brand in the US so they will go on the list. Not a lover of CCI generally so they will be a last resort. I think it is also down to what we can get hold of and whilst we have two main rfd shops we go to, it will be either from them or not at all as I am guessing it is such a pain to get firearm ammo in small quantities from a mail order source if posssible.     I thought Hornady were manufacturing their own as I recall that seemed to be the ammo that had the least amount of issues when a few years ago there were big problems with hmr rounds causing damage to the barrels on occassions.

    Just looked and RWS are not showing ammo for hmr which is strange as they make wmr ammo, I still have some. Phil

    I had some feed back today that Norma is not good but as you say every barrel is different although our firearms specialist rfd says V-Max is by far their biggest seller for hmr. RWS produce a superb wmr round but have no feedback on an hmr round either performance or availability. First test will be Hornady V-Max as they are easily available but just checking Forest Lodge site, they sell Norma, Winchester, CCI, Remington, Federal and of course Hornady so my pal and myself may well buy a few different ones to try.     The Impact has not gone yet Mitch, going on Wednesday and the reason is two fold, The tuning house doing the work on the gun has been waiting for some of the parts since early November, they actually arrived last week and it is thought the parts for the Mk1 will become more of an issue. Another thing was that despite me buying the gun at one month old, it has been fcuked about with inside and although I have not messed with it, I was advised to get rid. My first thought was to get a Crown with the aluminium tank as it's a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the carbon tank version, in .2

    Thanks guys for the info, most interesting. Hornady V-Max 17gr is what I was going to use unless any of you have any other suggestions although I have heard od some people using, I think it was 20 or 22gr but not sure, I am guessing the 17gr helps to keep the point of impact on the zero point for longer range. I will establish this later but as a matter of interest, if I zero at 75 - 100mt using 17gr V-Max, how far would you expect it to stay on target without holdover. I am curious about this as I have, like many people, had to use holdover for most of my shooting. Tests will show this
