Not really a saving ,add another magazine + a mod up some were near the price of HW100!! Fair point VM, fair point...
-
They are £589 Mac so a good saving on the HW. I am just keeping an eye on this gun and see what sort of feed back comes from different people. Had it got all the electronic stuff that some Daystates have, I wouldn't even consider it. I have no intention in jumping in to get one and may well finish up with another HW but in .22 this time. I think I have to keep an open mind until I'm ready to actually buy the next gun. The power adjustment interests me particularly if I go the FAC route. Phil

It clearly is not a thing of beauty but it appears to be a work tool and for vermin shooting where it may well get knocked about around farm buildings etc, perhaps this gun will fit the bill. I am really looking forward to the feed back and vid from the boys to see what they think. I think it is fair to say that both Si and Davy are far better shots than I will ever be so I will take it as read that they will make them sing but I DON'T believe they will say they are good if the guns are crap. If I get one, I will have it dipped anyway as I don't care for black stocks, just wish I could try on

Sandwell Field Sports have .177 in stock or did have because that is what Si and Davy have got.

I must confess this gun just seems right but we will get a better picture over the coming weeks as Si and Davy have both got one for testing and Si has bought his judging by the video. Phil

Storage Of Pellets When Out In The Field?
philpot replied to patterdale's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I bought a leather pouch that hangs around the neck, wish I had saved my money. Phil -
Just out of curiosity, how many Ultras and Scorpions with you guys have had a reg fitted and if so, does it improve the shot count. A lot of guys on another forum seem to really rate both guns and a lot of them have had them regged and short stoked/ better triggers etc. When you consider the price of both guns, they are still a good price even after being worked on in my book comparing with some other guns. Just bought a .22 S410 for my son in law. Never used one before but they are well balanced and feel good. TBH had the gun not been for my daughter to get for his Xmas pressy, I would have got it for myself. BUGGER........ Phil

Carrot cake because I could just take cover and eat the cake Phil

Nice shooting David. I used to love real blustery conditions when years ago I did a lot of wildfowling, by hell ducks can fly fast downwind. Phil

I can really understand where you are coming from but the bottom line is the costs involved with the super units you use, I would love one but I just can't afford one at the moment. I was doing a bit of practice with my set up using the Trigger Grip tripod the other night in the garden which works very well but my god it will take some getting used to in the field that is for sure. Long term I want a Pulsar or X-Site or similar but the pension only goes so far, I will be glad when the state pension kicks in, a bit more cash in my pockets then. Phil

Oops ! Sorry there Phil i meant to address Mutley Senior moment maybe I know that feeling only too well Mark Phil

Wow, they are a lot bigger than I thought.

The severe wind has died down today so I will be having a practice session tonight in the garden on some targets before doing anything else. Phil

I agree on reflection, getting rid of the RM8 was a good decision. Phil
-
There are people out there who love the RM8 and there are quite a few who can't wait to get rid of them. One of the main issues is power drop off, mine was putting out 11.4fp which after about 2500 pellets started to fall quite quickly. I spoke to the importers who said...........it was the air, not full...........pellet type...............my imagination.........faulty chrono. In other words, any excuse but not the gun. When I advised them that a number of other people on the forum were having similar issues, they said that is the problem with forums, talk rubbish My gun dropped down to 9.5

This hobby/sport/way of life, is like many others, a costly one to start off with. No surprise there, being a clay shooter, I know how to spend dosh on gear so this year, my first year back into this side of shooting has been a steep learning curve but nevertheless I believe after making a mistake buying the Rotex RM8, I am now on the right path.........I hope. I finish the year with most of the kit I wanted/needed now being bought HW 100 KT .177 ( Mac's choice of weapon ) Hawk Varmint 4-16 x 44 AO scope 4lt air cylinder & connector Visionking range finder Buffal

I had decided to get an NV system and because of cost, it would need to be a home build. The bottom line is that I just didn't want to build one and found one on ebay that has already been bought by a few guys on another forum with nothing but glowing reports so I coughed up £200 and it arrived yesterday. I have only had the chance to play around in the garden but to be honest it seems spot on. All the batteries are housed in the camera box so nice and neat. The charger plugs directly into the camera box so no battery removal and has short circuit protection for charging. The came
