  1. Well done David, I am so looking forward to my first perm. Phil
  2. The wind here is so bad that allowance for wind would be impossible at the moment, the gusts are really strong. There is a possibility of bloody snow here according the the forecast last night but hopefully they have it wrong. Good luck if you go out Mac Phil
  3. To be honest Rez, I am hoping to get a perm with a quarry on the land which is now grassed over and has a large rabbit population and I thought it could be quite handy for that but as much as anything if I got a Brocock Compatto or a Wildcat, both can turn down the power so it could be a cracking ratter. I do want a .22 or .25 for ratting and thought this might cover both areas of interest and I guess it would be nice to simply have it available to me. I am going to have another gun so an FAC will give me that option. Phil
  4. You guys put a smile on my face that's for sure. Supposed to be shooting Olympic Trap this morning but not in this wind/ gale and then sea fishing late this afternoon hmmmmm maybe but I think it's a case of reading the magazines and watch a film instead Phil
  5. Just thinking about the possibility of having a .25 FAC and would like to know from you boys with FAC air rifles just how tricky is it to get a ticket. I have a cabinet that my shotguns are in although not sure if that is the same spec for FAC. Your thoughts please Phil
  6. I have had shotguns for over 50 years and now back to air rifles, hobby, obsession, profession.......................................none, it is a way of life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Phil
  7. ooooohh, you do have a way with words Mac. Phil
  8. Hmmmm, at that price it might be worth getting one for when we are having a bit of family plinking in the garden as well as a back up gun. I have heard it said that they are quite accurate so could be worth a punt. I think I am in Sheffield next week, a coffee at John's place me thinks. Phil
  9. Nice shooting Mac but it is a shame your gun stock hasn't got a nice big thumbhole in it Phil
  10. The shot count is still 42 had the reg and a tune from XTX AIR I am going to get a bigger cylinder and a shroud from ratworks in the next week I will be really interested in your results. I have spoken to Phil Crampton at Ratworks, what a nice guy, I plan to get an Ultra .22 for ratting and it will go to Phil for the work or I will get one from him. Phil
  11. Nice shooting. What sort of shot count do you now get from the tuned Ultra and what else did you have done apart from the reg. Phil
  12. Johnny Brown in Sheffield is a tiny shop but nevertheless friendly and they will look after you. I used to live about 10 mins from them when living there and have dealt with John a number of times, very honest guy. How effective is the mod on the 900x Phil
  13. But a young TW4T at heart............................... Phil
  14. PENSIONERS and what is wrong with being an old tart Mac, I may not get my state pension for another 14months, more is the pity, but thank god for a little private one. The sticks will help me walk and might use for the gun as well. Phil
  15. I am not very good at free standing shots so I have been doing a little exercise most days and starting to feel the benefit. At 16yds, length of my garden, I take a five shots allowing no more than 3 seconds once the gun is in my shoulder, to take the shot. It is helping me to control my breathing and simulating a quick and instinctive shot as you would or could in the hunting field. It is important to also allow a few minutes between shots to build up a routine for mounting the gun consistently every time and also releasing the safety as second nature not having to look for it, if you don
  16. Oh well, for the sake of £2.75, it will be there should I ever need it.
  17. Treecreeper you are showing your age, I remember those bloody awful black sweets which were anything but sweet. IMP........thanks. I saw one of Si Pittaway's youtube vids with an HW springer with a stage 2 tune from SFS, is that the same type of thing. Phil
  18. IMP ????? what the hell is an IMP apart from a naughty child. Phil
  19. Great feed back guys, thank you very much. I think because I have the HW100KT and my son in law has shot it, he would love one but well outside what he can afford for a while but liked the quality aspect of the HW and was aware of the springers being possibly in his price range but made to a high standard. AA was not in the frame because to be honest none of the shops anywhere near us actually sell them in springer format. The other point was that there are plenty of s/h Weihrauch guns to be had and the fixed barrel models we both thought would be more accurate than a break barrel but
  20. I remember my uncle buying me a GAT air pistol, my first gun which I was so proud of. He said that any starlings I could shoot in his garden, he would give me half a crown for each one and when you think my pocket money was 5 shillings, this was worth a go. He was so surprised when after a couple of hours I handed over 6 starlings but nevertheless he handed me 15 shillings, riches beyond belief and the start of my shooting life. Oh yes for the younger members, 15 shillings is 75 pence but we are talking over 50 years ago..........................times just flies but I can recall that d
  21. Right you chaps that know a thing or two about Weihrauch springers. My son in law is interested in an under lever model for general plinking, a bit of range work and some ratting if I manage to get some but is it possible to fit a moderator to an under lever model, if so, which model. Phil
  22. I think this cover most things Huw, hope that helps. http://basc.org.uk/airgunning/advice/basc-air-rifle-code-of-practice/ and also https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/117804/air-weapons-safety-leaflet.pdf Phil
  23. I have bought scales last year for another purpose so thats okay and I have a Combro chrono so I'm covered there. I will master the software just a bit slow when it comes to computer stuff, not my comfort zone if you follow me. I watched Si Pittaway on youtube doing the '3 shot method' which first attracted me to the idea because it sounds to be a brilliant method. I did find that my Hawk Varmint scope is no longer on the Chairgun listing so looked for another scope at 4-16 x 44 sf but really was not sure what to do there. I know the scope is now no longer in production but my god they are
  24. Thanks Gary, just ordered a tube. Just need to get some spray oil of some kind now for the mag face. Phil
