It is now 11 days since the peas were drilled and I have been up to check every day for pigeon activity, nothing up until last night. A few birds were floating around so this morning I went up for a session over decoys, the wind was so strong in was just untrue mixed in with showers, what a good start. I sat in the car for about an hour but no drop in the wind at all, then the rain came down good style. Aborted mission. I have just been back up, just 6 birds walking the field with no other bird movement so back home for a coffee. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I will try again but

I should say that the only reason I popped a mod on my TX was that any sound reduction is a benefit as I have 6 horses the other side of my garden wall who are used to me shooting in the garden and they can be a bit twitchy at times, touch wood, they have not become too concerned with the noise from the TX. Phil

Might be worth saying what you are going to be shooting which might give the guys a better idea what to suggest, such as hunting generally, ratting in a farmyard, range work etc. Phil

Great shooting matey, that sounds like SOME perm you have there and a good use of the rabbits afterwards. Phil

I have a mod fitted to my TX, does it make a difference, yes it does on the indoor range but not a huge amount outside. Is it worth an extra 50 notes, hmmm not sure to be honest, let me put it this way, if I bought another springer, would I fit a mod straight off.............no. Phil

The actual weights may vary dependent on the density of the wood in the stock. But in reality both rifles are so close in weight that it would not matter. Certainly not enough to warrant discounting one or the other IMO. However, they have a different point of balance and so the shooter might think that one or the other is heavier when in fact it is the balance not the weight that gives that effect. On power; they are virtually the same rifle. So given that both have the same spring, cylinder, etc it would be a pretty good trick for Air Arms to de-tune the Pro Sport and not the TX using t

Okay Nicepix, I accept your point on weight but please also accept my point taken from my leaflet and AA website under 'downloads' so it seems that they are not so certain me thinks. This photo is from my leaflet as I cannot seem to be able to copy the online brochure but here is the link, page 33 http://www.air-arms.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/AA-Brochure-ISS-7-High-Res.pdf At the end of the day both rifles are superb and in some ways I wish I had bought the Prosport but quite simply on the day the TX200HC felt better for me and that is what I made my decision on along with the dir

It sounds like things are coming together with this new gun Matt and it's good to see. As a matter of interest Matt who is the RFD you got the gun from. Phil

Nicepix I was the guy who attended the Northern Shooting Show and with my wife, we spoke to Air Arms staff because I didn't know which gun to go for. The salesmen (there were two of them) said that all the R&D had gone into the TX and nothing into the Prosport basically since it was introduced and both men stated they had Prosports themselves but simply didn't use them in favour of te TX as it was just a better gun now. Whilst talking to these guys, I asked if there was any truth in a rumour I had heard that the Prosport can drop in power after a time as it seemed a strange to happen on

Here you go Mac just to give you a laugh. Please understand it is a loose fit, I'm NOT really that big...................or am I. Yours is better for sure mate with more loose leaf attached than the Deer Hunter. Phil -
New Air Rifles Regulated "out Of The Box"
philpot replied to davedavedave's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Normally 4.51 doesn't perform as well as 4.52 or even 4.53 and that is the case with mine, it is a little odd however that Weihrauch state 4.51 on the action of the gun but a few guys I know gave up on the 4.51 pellets in their 100's. Phil -
Good luck with the club Davy, what a pity I am not still working as I used to be in Bristol, Bath area every couple of weeks........................free fuel and spare time in the evenings, bummer. Phil

I have not tried those Mark, I have used FAP in the 100 which throw a good group but do seem to be affected by wind but they are only 7.33gr so I have been using JSB Exact at 8.44 which give as good a group as FAP and less affected by wind. I will try to get of a tin of JSB Exact Express to try and I suppose the AA Express (don't like AA) but JSB other than Exact are few and far between in this area. What are you using now in the TX Mark. Phil
-
My 100 throws some super tight groups with Bis Mags but after a few recommendations, I am waiting for some JSB Heavies to arrive because they are said to be superb in a 100. Phil

I have just gone through this same process TX vs Prosport vs 97. I tried out the 97 and TX a few minutes apart and preferred the TX, just felt nicer to shoot but pellet loading is a bit finicky on the TX however you quickly get the feel for it. I am very much on a learning curve with the TX and slowly improving with a fair way to go but for me the TX seemed a better buy. You may pick up the 97 and say it feels far better, if possible, try before you buy. Phil

Unfortunately I think I may be older and my daughter has offered for my 65th, Jan 2017.....................................a bloody zimmer frame. Now it's bad enough getting a ribbing at home without you buggers starting here. I have just popped down to the local lake to give a hand with my son in law's boat, I was kneeling down on the pontoon, hanging on to my little grandson, my son in law powered the boat off and left me kneeling down much to the laughter of other people watching me try to get back up again without letting the little one fall in. I would NEVER manage HFT, Once down I'm

Had that very situation this morning Rez but as I was not bothered about the shot or a crawl in soaking wet long grass, I carried on with taking my hide down. A few minutes later, I looked up to see if he was still there, he was happily munching grass. I guess he didn't think I was a threat so carried on................................must of heard about my groups with the TX Phil

I do have the patience and am making inroads with the TX but in terms of accuracy compared to my HW100, there is no comparison but that is down to me, I know that. I certainly feel the new attachment on my sticks would really be an advantage for the TX. Most of my zeroing is done at 25mt because the only range near to me is 25mt but my perm has some large hollows in the ground, perhaps 6'-12' which offer target work out of the main wind which we get a lot of on the east coast so before making a decent set of figures for different ranges on hold over, I wondered where to set zero because I

Went To Look At A Compatto And Came Out With This!
philpot replied to si brown's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I supose without trying or wanting to, you quite naturally compare the 110 to a 100 by virtue of the fact that they are both Weihrauch and look very much the same. I guess fans of AA guns will feel the same comparisons with how to cock the new Galahad bull pup. As you say Si, it is just different to how things are on the 100. It makes you wonder why Weihrauch would want to change such a successful mag system as the 100. Really interested to see how things develop Phil
