  1. I don't know how to do a clever drawing on the computer Mark but the best way to describe it would be a rolling hillside with crop fields, peas, rape, barley. These fields stop at a very long ( miles) wood running all along the edge of my perm. I know where you are coming from regarding roosting but neither the woodies nor corvids seem to have a definite flight path in or out of the wood so I am guessing it is on the other side of the wood. I do not have permission to shoot either the wood or the land beyond, the owners have been contacted by a few guys I know but no shooting is allowed on
  2. Went back up again about 5.30 to see if they are calling in these fields on the way to roost but unlike last night, no birds. Phil
  3. Ah, I see your point, back to the drawing board but thanks guys. I will have a look at the PAO Swat scope which has has one or two bits of good feedback. Changing the subject somewhat, I popped into the RFD this afternoon and he has one of these orrible Ultra XL that I saw at the Northern Shooting Show earlier this year BUT.... after picking it up and wheeling it around in the shop, it does feel light and perfectly balanced with more shots per fill than the ultra. I think it is only available with a thumbhole stock though so may not appeal to all. Phil
  4. Has any of you used a viper connect scope with an add-on NV. The blurb says it is not suitable which I am guessing is because of the rubber eye piece but my thought was if that rubber eye piece is not used, surely it would be no different to any other scope. Am I missing something here, is there another reason or does the rubber eye piece HAVE to be used. I don't own a viper connect but have considered one hence the question. Phil
  5. I won't say anything about the vole but I like the look of your compact scope, what is it. Phil
  6. I popped over to my perm about 5.30 last last just to have a look at what was going on after my holiday. My god there were corvids all over the rape stubble so I planned a trip out this morning. I set the hide up with a few crow decoys in a spot that I though would catch the attention of the birds coming from the woods and with the quite strong wind, ideally placed. Only took the shotgun today because of the strong wind..............................................not a bird in sight. I sat there for 3 hours without even lifting the gun up. I noticed a few drifting across the edge of some
  7. Now there's a thought Si..................................good thinking that man. A mate just phoned to say that he has been sat under the sea wall for 45mins, 19 duck now in the freezer and the bast**d didn't even invite me and what with my hunger, I am fading away fast. Phil
  8. I have had a few just walk past the hide and get a lovely cock bird in the garden but never shot one with the air rifle, plenty with the shotgun though. I see no issue shooting one if it was close enough to make a clean kill a cert. Phil
  9. My mouth is watering Jimmy, Trish, my wife, has shocking tooth ache so not hungry and I am total crap when it comes to cooking and at my age that is not good so looking at your creation and the beans on toast that I might have is just not fair. Phil
  10. My back garden overlooks a field which has a willow tree where the magpies come calling, perfect place for me to keep popping a few off when the opportunity shows. Phil
  11. I saw that as well Si, out and out copy. I have a friend in London who got the first Impact in the country but as far as I know, he has had no issues with mags at all and seriously loves the gun. It is without a doubt a very clever piece of kit but as yet I can't find myself loving it, I WILL get the Wildcat though sooner or later. Phil
  12. While I was in Suffolk the last couple of weeks, a chap at the gun shop told me that there was a new variety of mixy that had been recently introduced which was much stronger and quite capable of wiping out whole regions. Now this was the first I had heard of such a thing and don't know if it was total bullsh1t but I hope to god he was wrong. Phil
  13. Totally agree with you Mark but it looks as though those two were hit at about 15mts with full choke I have had some like that but pleased to say not so many. Just been for a quick look on the perm after the holiday, 200+ rooks / crows on the rape stubble so if it is not raining like hell tomorrow, a sorte with both rifle and my 12g auto is on the cards. Must see about getting a new owl decoy for the winter months. Is your cook book by Rosie Barnham by any chance. Phil
  14. Looks like a nice Tancho Sanke, shusui, harawaki, parachina and chagoi, can't quite see the other, possibly a goshki or showa. Long time since I wrote down any of these so perhaps not the correct spelling. Water looks well cared for too. Phil
  15. Phil I am like you not very good at the tuning but I fitted a tinbum kit into a tx I used to have no problem really is quite easy if you watch the utube video on it. What improvements has the tinbum kit made to your TX and what cal is it. I go round and round in my mind regarding my gun, should I try to make it a smoother action, less sharp on recoil or is it just me. I have not picked it up for a few weeks, I think I need to spend some time with it again or get rid and forget springers. Phil
  16. On a TX, how difficult is fitting the kits because I am not the best at this sort of thing and I would like to smooth out my .177, do they come with instructions. Phil
  17. Stonking group, wish mine were as good with TX. I bet the pellets are a bugger to load with that scope though. Anyone care to tune mine for me, can't afford sending it off to one of the known tuning guys as much as I would like to. Phil
  18. Right John, I have found the digital version that I have, here is the link. I think this will give you what you need mate. http://www.shootingclubdirectory.com/ Go to the home page and click on Wales in the drop down menu, the list will be there for you to browse. Phil
  19. Following on from an earlier post regarding police testing. This came up in a discussion a little while ago so I contacted my local firearms office to ask if a situation came up where for example the police were called because somebody had reported ' a gun is being used'. So what tests would be done to establish if this gun was within the law, do you test the gun with the pellets being used or use a selection of your own pellets knowing that a heavy pellet may push the gun over the limit. The officer understood my concerns and said they would always use our pellets being used, if there wer
  20. I think these are really quirky little guns and by far prefer them to the latest version. If you don't like it, let me know and I will give you what you paid for it plus a bit extra. Phil
  21. I am away in Suffolk for a couple of weeks but when I get back I will scan my copy of 'shooting grounds directory' for you John. It is a good little booklet with loads of info. Phil
  22. Is that a gun !!!!!!!!!! Phil
  23. You must have some amazing perms to get the bags you keep getting. Great shooting, nuff said... Phil
