Love the look of your perm Mark, reminds me of a Forestry Commission perm I had some years ago, sadly a change of area manager changed that. Phil

I will have a think about that mate, could have a mini meet, you, little hunter, David and me not forgetting Si,.....................where to pull the trigger though. Phil

I have changed my opinion regarding reticle design/thickness on different scope makes. I started off wanting a strong image but as I got better needed something a bit finer and then bought an MTC Genesis with much finer reticle than anything else I had used but when I got used to it, I could never go back to a thicker reticle. In fact the Ultra that I have just bought has a BSA scope which has a really thick reticle and I just can't see the target so that is already off and going to the RFD to part ex on something. Take a little time to check the quality of the reticle on the scope you might

Shooting Overnighter......................in Style
philpot replied to philpot's topic in General Airgun Discussion
That's true Mark BUT and there is always a BUT, there is a lot of dosh to go back into the bank account because trust me, when you build these things with quality products, it costs, OH MY GOD does it cost, £85 for a sheet of lightweight wood finish ply, I won't bore you with details as there are 3 A4 sheets of inventory lists in the file so the £15k will reduce by a very large amount. We have had a few people look at the project whilst it was being built, saying things like, I might think of doing this myself......................they don't know the half. This is the third one I have been -

It will be going on at £15k but understand this is not a sales ad, I was just showing something that I am quite proud of. It will be going on ebay soon. Phil -

It was just a delivery van, my son in law used to build motorhomes costing around £250,000 so we have a guru in the team. We have made it to a high spec with no penny pinching whatsoever. Thanks guys Phil -
I thought I would just show you lot what my son in law and myself have been building in our spare time. Now ready for selling to boost my pocket money or should I say Wildcat fund. Just what you need for a night away shooting............................with beer fridge, gas hob, microwave, 240v hot water boiler, fold down TV, wind out awning and a comfortable double bed. Phil

I'm pleased for you Mark. Phil

In order to get 'hold' right, which is not so easy as Mac and Simon will agree and I had to put in loads of practice after those two gentlemen spent time showing me. I suggest going to a range and get somebody who shoots a springer well to show you or of course the club coach if there is one because getting help from people who KNOW to you personally, make a world of difference. I am sure there will be a range not too far away, if you don't know of one, have a look on here :- http://www.shootingclubdirectory.com/ Hope that helps Phil

I always wanted one of these when they first came out but never did get one, can't remember why, perhaps the price at that time or availability as there was no internet so it was a case of seeing them in 'Shooting Times' but not in a local shop, how things have changed. Look forward to seeing what you finish up with mark. Phil

I totally understand where you are coming from Jim, as soon as any hobby/sport becomes a chore, it is time to do something about it. I find that having both shotguns and rifles, I have the ability to switch from one to the other with a blend of clay shooting in the mix. I also think the HW 100 is a completely boring high precision tool which doesn't give the pleasure I thought it would hence my interest in the FAC Rapid and Wildcat, something a bit different and the HW will go. More to your point of too much demand on you because of the sheer volume of perms, perhaps, loaning the perm -
To be truthful, I would not buy any scope without looking through it first. With these aging eyes it is important to establish what works for the individual because the number of times I have seen posts on various forums where one guy says scope x is great and another says how crap they are but scope z is tons better etc etc. I am a BIG believer in supporting local dealers of which I have a couple and one of them will supply me with a scope that suits me, we need to support local or we won't have any. One of those dealers has a s/h mamba which may be where I finish. I have my FAC ticket du

Love the S10 Jon and a thumbhole springer, now I wish I had that on my TX, I might love it a bit more. Enjoy Phil
-
Thanks for the heads up on that but just looked now £185 so on the up..... To be honest, I am going to take the Hawke Varmint off the TX and put it on the Ultra and stick the BSA on the TX because it is unlikely it will ever get used for hunting. Phil

Bis mags, that would be handy as my HW100 loves em. I will have a look at the Nikon, not had any experience of them. Phil

Whilst on the Mamba theme, has anyone got a Mamba Lite they would like to sell. Phil

Help On New Air Rifle
philpot replied to harrymad123's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If you can, try to meet up with one of the lads, you are welcome to come over here on the east coast and try a few guns but I think there is someone closer. You could ask at a gun shop to see if there is a range near you as most people will let you try their guns and that way you will get a feel for what suits you and your pocket. Try before you buy whenever possible, it will save you money and your tears. Phil -
It is what we come to expect from this man. Phil

Years ago when I used to go wildfowling, I would make five or six hides on the marsh to try to cover different scenarios but confess to now use netting for ease of setting up where the birds are feeding. I would love to find a camo net that actually looks like the bushes or weeds/ grasses that we hide in. Even wondered about buying some artificial greenery to add to netting. My pal has one of these two man hides which is brilliant in the wet but a bit of a pain to put away. I nearly bought a different version at the Game Fair, they were selling at around £60 for a single or £85 for a t

Just need to sort out a scope because I don't like the BSA one that is on it. Big question is, my wife thinks it is just right which of course means that I may not be in control of it for too long so do I want to put on a better scope and then she likes that as well, you can I am sure see where this is going.....................................ah well we will just have to wait and see. What pellets suit the Ultra guy and save me a bit of time. Phil

Picked up my Ultra SE .177 today along with a de-pinger and Blast tamer (I will pretend I know what the fcuk they are for) god knows how they fit. Comes complete with a BSA scope which is coming off and a bag. Nice little gun which I was able to shoot before buying so we will see how we get on with a 'little gun', must say it feels good in the shoulder. Phil
