Tx200Hc Stock Lightening
philpot replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I assumed there would be a good reason so thanks for that mate. Phil -
Well I am only 1.5 miles from the Humber estuary so perhaps that is why he is here. On the RSPB register they are classified in the region as 'very rare' so I think I have been lucky to have this fella sat in the garden for most of the day, in fact he only took off when a bloody cat jumped over the wall and scared him off. I have been wanting to clear out all the tommy plants from the greenhouse today but as he was only a few feet away from the greenhouse door, that job didn't get done. Hope he is back again soon. Phil

Just having a chat with a friend on the phone when I saw an a bird out of the corner of my eye...................................a woodcock. Now they are pretty rare to find in the woods let alone in my little cottage garden and sat right next to one of my targets. Yes I could shoot him as it is still rooting around in the fallen leaves but what a cracking sight, I am happy just to watch. Sorry about the photo quality, taken through the window. Phil

Tx200Hc Stock Lightening
philpot replied to bigmac 97kt's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Just one question Jimmy, why do you leave the butt pad on when bathing the stock. Phil -
I bought an Ultra a few weeks ago and what a pleasure it is to carry around compared to the HW100. During the coming weeks/months, I intend to fit a reg, longer cylinder and shroud, short stroking with possible improvement to the trigger unit. When I say 'I INTEND' to do these things..........................well not exactly me but with help from a friend...............I hope. I really do like this little gun now fitted with a Mamba Lite 3-12x44 scope. Phil

Because I am retired, I can go shooting at the drop of a hat, so to speak and with that in mind it is normally on my own as my shooting friends are working. The only time I go out with anyone is on a weekend but in truth I prefer weekdays, always quieter. Phil

Shot My First Pheasant This Morning,
philpot replied to foxtails's topic in General Airgun Discussion
My wife showed me a trick with pheasant preparation that was new to me. Chop off the head as close to the crop as possible, lay the bird on it's back with wings outstretched, stand on the wings, grab hold of the feet and PULL I couldn't believe it, the feathers and guts lay on the floor with my wife holding a perfectly cleaned pheasant......................................clever or what. Phil -
I would have to answer that at a later date because I have only just picked up my .22 FAC last Sat then been on holiday for a week. Not even fitted a scope as yet so no range time and no idea what will be an average shooting distance but looking at my perm, I would say 25-50mt and to be quite honest I don't think 50mts will be on the cards that much. Whatever the distance, it will be nice to have some serious falling down power at my disposal. phil

What To Do When The Perm`s Are Slow ?
philpot replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Looks sooooooooo good Mark, will a thick slice fit in a jiffy bag heading for North Linc's perhaps,..............or not. Phil -
Yes Rez mate, for sure. Phil

Quite a few guys on here use Falcon Accuracy Plus at 13gr makes a flat and fast flying pellet, others prefer heavyweight JSB. Personal choice but as already said, it depends how good your groups from your gun are as to which pellet is best suited. Phil

What Is The Best Competition Scope
philpot replied to Steve Thomson's topic in General Airgun Discussion
It depends what you regard as expensive and if it is for FT or HFT as the requirements are quite different. Phil -
I bought a tin of H&N Baracuda Match 21gr and a tin of Air Arms Diablo Field Heavy 18gr to try as these were strongly suggested for FAC guns and certainly Rapids. I will just keep buying and trying different pellets to find what works best. I really would like to test FAP 13.4gr but advised that they can melt in the barrel at FAC fps which is a pity because they would fly so flat and still have more than enough punch for any quarry I want to shoot. Phil
-
He said he does all repair work and mods to rapids but is he any good, he talks the talk but does he deliver at the end of it Rez. I had thought of contacting you to see if you were around but couldn't get the forum up on the phone, fcuking EE, supposed to be the best.......................................NOT. Phil
-
I called into City Airweapons in Lincoln as we were passing through today, helpful chap and a Rapid man so I thought I would pick up a spare mag for my .22..........................£60. I checked with a couple of other suppliers when I got home and again £60, how the hell can they charge that much for a plastic mag, crazy. I am a newbie on the Rapid7 forum and as such I cannot place or respond to sales adverts on the forum so I missed a s/h mag today..........bugger. Phil

Cheers Sean

Only one way to find out. I have got to get a tin to try as well but from what I have been told, they are very effective at FAC levels. Phil
-
Is this what you look like Si after half a gall...................................I be tempted to go onto shorts instead matey Phil
-
You may not be keen when you have had a go with Si's gun Jimmy but I bet you will have a different opinion of the Wildcat, it's not just another bullpup. You just wait matey. Phil
-
To be honest John, the Bobcat just doesn't quite do for me and if I recall, quite a bit heavier than the Wildcat. Can't say exactly why but the Wildcat just doesn't feel like a bullpup when you compare to others, everything is in the right place, no cocking lever/bolt in your ear, the cheek piece/comb feels normal and in every way, the Wildcat just feels purposeful. I had seen that gun on AGF and whilst Richard got it sorted, he had loads of issues to contend with but he is an honorable sort of chap who would not sell it if it was still trouble. Phil
-
You know when you think about it Ethan is one of the very FEW youngsters that is ever spoken about who is coming into the sport of shooting.......................now that is sad for the sport. Great to see him taking to the TX mate. Phil
-
I wouldn't give that a second thought Jimmy, they have no appeal to me at all, done that, been there many many years ago, not for me. If the air rifle and shotty doesn't do the job, then I will leave it for someone else. An FAC air is as extreme as I want to go. Phil
