    I totally understand where you are coming from Jim, as soon as any hobby/sport becomes a chore, it is time to do something about it. I find that having both shotguns and rifles, I have the ability to switch from one to the other with a blend of clay shooting in the mix. I also think the HW 100 is a completely boring high precision tool which doesn't give the pleasure I thought it would hence my interest in the FAC Rapid and Wildcat, something a bit different and the HW will go.     To be truthful, I would not buy any scope without looking through it first. With these aging eyes it is important to establish what works for the individual because the number of times I have seen posts on various forums where one guy says scope x is great and another says how crap they are but scope z is tons better etc etc. I am a BIG believer in supporting local dealers of which I have a couple and one of them will supply me with a scope that suits me, we need to support local or we won't have any.     Thanks for the heads up on that but just looked now £185 so on the up..... To be honest, I am going to take the Hawke Varmint off the TX and put it on the Ultra and stick the BSA on the TX because it is unlikely it will ever get used for hunting. Phil

    If you can, try to meet up with one of the lads, you are welcome to come over here on the east coast and try a few guns but I think there is someone closer. You could ask at a gun shop to see if there is a range near you as most people will let you try their guns and that way you will get a feel for what suits you and your pocket. Try before you buy whenever possible, it will save you money and your tears. Phil

    Years ago when I used to go wildfowling, I would make five or six hides on the marsh to try to cover different scenarios but confess to now use netting for ease of setting up where the birds are feeding. I would love to find a camo net that actually looks like the bushes or weeds/ grasses that we hide in. Even wondered about buying some artificial greenery to add to netting. My pal has one of these two man hides which is brilliant in the wet but a bit of a pain to put away.     Just need to sort out a scope because I don't like the BSA one that is on it. Big question is, my wife thinks it is just right which of course means that I may not be in control of it for too long so do I want to put on a better scope and then she likes that as well, you can I am sure see where this is going.....................................ah well we will just have to wait and see.     Picked up my Ultra SE .177 today along with a de-pinger and Blast tamer (I will pretend I know what the fcuk they are for) god knows how they fit. Comes complete with a BSA scope which is coming off and a bag. Nice little gun which I was able to shoot before buying so we will see how we get on with a 'little gun', must say it feels good in the shoulder. Phil

    I loved my Hawke Varmint and when I put the Genesis on, the reticle is very fine and struggled a bit at first but now love it. Phil

    I can only agree with the above comments. I am on a learning curve with springers but as far as I know, you should always go for light to medium pellets with springers not any type of magnum/heavy pellet. Phil

    I looked at the Mamba before buying the Genesis 5-20x50 and found it to be a nice scope with good glass. Only went the Genesis route because the scope had been in stock a while and the price was not to be missed. £100 for a mamba sounds a decent price, judging by the prices the guys on AGF sell them at and even better if it comes with mounts. Talking of mounts, I had some issues with my hawke mounts that I used on the genesis. Zero at 25mts spot on, take it out to 60mts, 4'' to the left. Turned out to be the mounts, seamaster put me onto BKL mounts, bloody superb so now in the process of b

    I have to be truthful Jimmy and say that as much as I love my HW100, it is a heavy bugger to walk around with, fine in the hide but I wanted to try something lighter and it is a gun that I get tuned if needed, a quick phone call to Seamaster, Chris, as I know he has fitted regs to his guns so things to do in time but want to make sure it is for me, if you know what I mean. Anyway just waiting for the guy to come back to me to make arrangements for payment and collection and we are away, then sell the little Brocock Contour of my wife's as she can use this as well.     I saw this advert John and yes he has made a bit of a mess with that stock BUT I quite like the idea of what he has done, after all it is what Rapid and BSA have done very well. It will certainly bang up the shot count, link that to the accuracy of the HW and you have quite an outfit. I assume there is no form of regulator now so debatable how well the shot string will be.     No not yet but I have agreed a deal on an Ultra SE .177 camo stock for the time being. I will sell my wife's Brocock so she can use this as well as me getting used to walking around with a lighter gun. The Wildcat will happen but I am in no rush. Phil

    The wind has been really blowing a Hooly Si but now calmed down. I think if I tried to use the air rifle it would be difficult to hit a dustbin lid, at least the shotgun keeps me shooting.
