Hmmm looks like BASC then. Does their cover offer insurance on the guns themselves, I will phone and ask them tomorrow, just handy to get your feedback. Phil
-
I was always a member of WAGBI before BASC took over and then a member of CPSA as it was only clay shooting for many many years, just not thought about it since I started to shoot live quarry again. If I joined BASC, it would be as a full member to cover shotguns as well but are you all paying up front or monthly. Phil
-
Cheers guys. I had thought about joining BASC but in truth I was more interested in getting a straight cover from a company. CCC3 looks decent. Phil

Just got a little rat perm today, not expecting much as it is a new sugar beet compound so might take a while to get going but Hey Ho, who cares. The farm manager asked if I have insurance, I of course said yes...........................so I had better get some. Now then lads, what insurance companies do you use. Phil

My Hw77K Review And Future Plans
philpot replied to Richard Collett's topic in General Airgun Discussion
It really is a good looking rifle Richard, I do like laminated stocks. Good on you getting stuck into home tuning, I'm a coward and took up the kind offer from Charlie Caller to tune my TX who really knows about tuning. Phil -
Perhaps my memory is failing me but from what I recall they tasted alright although it was about 38 years ago Phil

New Old Pre War Rifle!!
philpot replied to johnbaz's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Lovely old gun John and an interesting thread. Sheffield only has three RFD's that supposedly have gunsmiths and I doubt it was John at Hardy's so I can have a small wager that I know which one it was. Phil -
Has your cooking improved at all Mark. Phil

Another Good Day At Black Cat And ....... A New Rifle.
philpot replied to Jonjon79's topic in General Airgun Discussion
We could make a plan here mate, boats can be hired at the mere and I have a few shotties so clays are also doable................................food for thought although a week day is always better with less people on the range. 65mt is basically 3 lanes 25mt is about 6 lanes 100mt is for firearms inc my fac rifle. 10mt for pistol etc.(indoor) All layouts are outdoor with covered shooting positions/benches. There is Humberside Shooting Ground with a 65mt, 25mt and 100mt ranges Si along with a good clay shooting layout, fully stocked shop/gunsmith and cafe. Not a million miles from you near Hornsea. Not the best web site but here you go. http://www.humbersideshootingground.co.uk/ If ever you fancy a trip, I will meet up with you. Phil -
I am with you on that. Phil

Another Good Day At Black Cat And ....... A New Rifle.

I don't see anything wrong with taking good care of your kit. I would also be really hacked off to damage any gun in any way by less than careful handling. I see anglers chucking gear on the bank, my gear is like brand new, any rod or reel looks like it has just come out of the shop. I remember clay shooting one day when a tiny fragment of a clay I had just shot, hit the forend of a brand new trap gun and put a dent in the middle of the chequering, I was both gutted and fcuking angry but nobody to blame which didn't help the situation one bit or my mood for that matter. It's called pri -
I have shot moorhens and coots in years gone by and eaten them. With a shotgun, no problem but with an air rifle would be tricky as the head movement on both birds would make it very hard for a head shot, that is assuming it was legal to shoot them. I have never heard of moorhens taking duck eggs, I would go as far as to say that is bullsh1t Rez IMO. Phil

Lucky bugger................................ Phil

Thanks Shaun, I'm not much wiser but I will have a look into it. Phil

Glad you enjoyed it Shaun, a lucky man having not one but two quality hunting coaches to hand. Now something different...................I have never seen how a three point sling works, please explain. Phil

Hoppes is quite aggressive and might cause issues with the 'O' ring in the breech assuming there is a seal there. Quite a few guys in the UK use Napier Power Airgun oil which is more gentle on seals. Problem with a cleaning rod is that you have to go in from the muzzle on a PCP which pushes any dirt / particles into the breech / mag area AND could easily damage the seal. Pull through with soft cloth patches or cleaning pellets is the way to go. Phil

Word back from the RFD Nelly, no HW stocks kicking around but he will ask Hull Cartridge for you. Phil

I have been trying a few different pellets in the Wildcat and Rapid over the last couple of days with interesting results. Rapid. Can't really go below 16gr because of the shorter barrels but found the AA Field Heavy 18gr, fantastic so that is the one I will take to the outdoor 65mt range as a start point. Wildcat. Now I am not used to loopy pellet flight produced with 16gr JSB Jumbo pellets and wanted to try lighter pellets so enter FAP........................god they were awful, jammed up, lousy groups, so will not be testing them again which is a pity because they are cracking in

I thought I would just bring you up to date with this situation. As shown above, I got hold of a 410 stock but at the same time I have had several chats with my RFD to establish if a better solution could be found. Well after a bit of wheeling and dealing we came up with an offer on Simon's 410 against a new Ultra XL. I know the XL is not generally liked for it's looks but it answered the issues my son in law has with his 410 in terms of stock comb height and thickness. Today I took him in to establish if this gun was in fact suitable for him, we popped on a spare Nikko Mountmaster sco

Bsa Scorpion Or Aa S400 Advice??
philpot replied to Hopley89's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The mag version of the 400 is the 410 so that is an easy fix. Air Arms 400 series guns have a position of great respect in this country but I really don't know what it is but I just don't like them, don't feel right somehow although the side lever 510 Ultimate sporter is a bit different. I have never shot a Scorpion because they are not popular in my neck of the woods, no RFD's for miles actually stock them......................... I have had a hold of one at the Shooting Show which I thought was spot on, fitted well in the shoulder with a good balance and would love to shoot one. -
I've got one Charlie, where abouts are you? Charlie is in Sheffield Shaun. Phil

I have been and asked if they have a stock but not able to search through the warehouse at that time, he also said that if he doesn't have one, it is quite likely that Hull Cartridge (the importer) quite often has some s/h stocks from when the action has been damaged so I will give them a chase tomorrow or Monday, Saturday will be too busy. Give me a few days Shaun and we will see what is available mate. Are you wanting a sporter or thumbhole stock given a choice. Phil
