  1. Lucky bugger................................ Phil
  2. Thanks Shaun, I'm not much wiser but I will have a look into it. Phil
  3. Glad you enjoyed it Shaun, a lucky man having not one but two quality hunting coaches to hand. Now something different...................I have never seen how a three point sling works, please explain. Phil
  4. Hoppes is quite aggressive and might cause issues with the 'O' ring in the breech assuming there is a seal there. Quite a few guys in the UK use Napier Power Airgun oil which is more gentle on seals. Problem with a cleaning rod is that you have to go in from the muzzle on a PCP which pushes any dirt / particles into the breech / mag area AND could easily damage the seal. Pull through with soft cloth patches or cleaning pellets is the way to go. Phil
  5. Word back from the RFD Nelly, no HW stocks kicking around but he will ask Hull Cartridge for you. Phil
  6. I have been trying a few different pellets in the Wildcat and Rapid over the last couple of days with interesting results. Rapid. Can't really go below 16gr because of the shorter barrels but found the AA Field Heavy 18gr, fantastic so that is the one I will take to the outdoor 65mt range as a start point. Wildcat. Now I am not used to loopy pellet flight produced with 16gr JSB Jumbo pellets and wanted to try lighter pellets so enter FAP........................god they were awful, jammed up, lousy groups, so will not be testing them again which is a pity because they are cracking in
  7. I thought I would just bring you up to date with this situation. As shown above, I got hold of a 410 stock but at the same time I have had several chats with my RFD to establish if a better solution could be found. Well after a bit of wheeling and dealing we came up with an offer on Simon's 410 against a new Ultra XL. I know the XL is not generally liked for it's looks but it answered the issues my son in law has with his 410 in terms of stock comb height and thickness. Today I took him in to establish if this gun was in fact suitable for him, we popped on a spare Nikko Mountmaster sco
  8. The mag version of the 400 is the 410 so that is an easy fix. Air Arms 400 series guns have a position of great respect in this country but I really don't know what it is but I just don't like them, don't feel right somehow although the side lever 510 Ultimate sporter is a bit different. I have never shot a Scorpion because they are not popular in my neck of the woods, no RFD's for miles actually stock them......................... I have had a hold of one at the Shooting Show which I thought was spot on, fitted well in the shoulder with a good balance and would love to shoot one.
  9. I've got one Charlie, where abouts are you? Charlie is in Sheffield Shaun. Phil
  10. I have been and asked if they have a stock but not able to search through the warehouse at that time, he also said that if he doesn't have one, it is quite likely that Hull Cartridge (the importer) quite often has some s/h stocks from when the action has been damaged so I will give them a chase tomorrow or Monday, Saturday will be too busy. Give me a few days Shaun and we will see what is available mate. Are you wanting a sporter or thumbhole stock given a choice. Phil
  11. It is supposed to Mark but have to say that mine is perfect, no scratches or dings so perhaps some of the wood used is softer than others, luck of the draw I guess. Phil
  12. I will ask when I go into my RFD today if he has any s/h stocks for the HW, then you just get it camo dipped. My RFD has a local guy who does it for about £100 and I think that could the whole gun but we will ponder that one if I can find you a stock. Phil
  13. Well I think I could hit a 10m bolt at 60mt as well Jimmy after all 10m is about 35ft..........if however we are talking 10mm at 60mt, then I don't like Ethan any more. We will have a chat about the stocks Jimmy after Xmas mate, thank you. Phil
  14. Good move Shaun but I have to tell you that there is not a .77 in pellet size but there is a .177, perhaps it could be that one matey. Phil
  15. Love it Mark and yes I am an owd twat for sure mate. State pension starting 4th Jan, that will pay for the Wildcat in .177 I am quite amazed at the difference in the TX Mark, very very accurate, clover leaf at 25mt with 10 shots, took me by sheer surprise I can tell you that. This is a completely different rifle. Phil
  16. Very true although sometimes it is nice to own something which gives pleasure even though it may not get used so much. Phil
  17. Nearly called in a few weeks ago Simon as I passed your front door but time was against me otherwise I would have given you a call. It really does shoot far better than before Simon, it has to for me to produce the groups I did yesterday although it was only 25mt but nevertheless compared to groups of the past at this distance, there is a vast improvement for me at any rate............................It would be interesting to see what you thought of it now. Phil
  18. No, I am leaving it just for the minute Jimmy but will be doing it before long mate and the Rapid beech stock is sh1t so that need s some work. Phil
  19. On the subject of Julia wanting to shoot, let her, as Jimmy says, use your gun until she is really up for a gun herself. My wife and I really enjoy clay shooting and following on from that Trish thought an air rifle would allow her to share in this aspect of shooting but she just didn't seem to come to terms with it. I bought her a Brocock Contour, super lightweight gun, no good. I bought the Ultra as much as anything for her to shoot (I didn't tell her that) but again she just cannot get comfortable with a rifle. Don't splash the cash until she is READY, it can add pressure on her and tak
  20. To be honest Shaun, Jimmy has given you some wise words, heed them mate. This shooting mularky will digest loads and loads of dosh, trust me I have been shooting from the age of 13................................ouch. As Jimmy said, you have two cracking guns and another PCP will offer you................WHAT??.......................nothing different. I appear to have too many guns at the moment and it is true but I have a small window of opportunity while a bit of cash is there and once gone I can't replace it very easily so my tinkering with multiple guns is short lived and will
  21. Happy to shoot targets with it for the time being Tim, fully occupied with the Rapid FAC and Wildcat at the moment but enjoying the TX now matey, bloody superb, many thanks for your time and know how. Phil
  22. I think you mean 'Philpot' not that it matters. Glad you have a club to go to and one with a decent reputation. Good luck with it all and enjoy every minute. Phil
  23. It would be very worthwhile to get hold of some Falcon Accuracy Plus or JSB Exact Jumbo RS both of which are light, flatter flight and suit springers as I have established in .177 versions. Phil
  24. If you want to save some cash Shaun, I will be selling my Utramax .177 which you can tune to your hearts content and it is in camo.......................... Phil
  25. Yes, in the UK we are allowed to own / use air rifles with a maximum 12 ft/lbs. Over this power level, you will need a Firearms License. Phil
