  1. The saga continues, the Impact returned to the rfd today with my pal and myself waiting. First job to test through the Skan chrono, first couple of shots reading 9.6fpe but then went up to 11.45fpe average for another 10 shots, all looking good. Tested Exact 8.44 then Heavy at 10.34 but both produced poor groups, now this was a surprise to say the least as Sportsman Gun Centre had send back three targets shot at 25yds as as tight as can be, about the size of my little finger nail. Utter bollocks, what gun they used is unknown but it was not my pal's gun. between the two of us we sho
  2. In the UK, Hatsan are not an expensive gun in fact they are very much an economy based gun and not worth messing about with. It would be cheaper and much more effective to simply buy another Hatsan in .22 as the task would need good gunsmith to carry out the work, just not worth the expense. Phil
  3. Went to the rfd with my pal as the gun arrived back from Sportsman Gun Centre with all the issues now sorted.............................NOT. First job to test groups with different pellets at 25mt, all rather like a shotgun pattern with the exception of JSB Exact Heavy which were better but not good more like just about passable, 20mm group !!!!. I took my Snowpeak .22 to rezero and was getting tight cloverleaf groups and on a gun that cost me about £450 so compare the results to a gun costing £1850 and needless to say I rezeroed my Wildcat fac with pellets again, single hole groups w
  4. Are you available Mitch, may be needed sooner rather than later. ?
  5. We have just picked up a new rabbit perm which has the most prolific warren area I have ever seen so last night I popped over there, this time on my own with both the Wildcat fac and my Tikka .22lr rimmy, not to bore you with details, it was only a short session but still had 17 in just under 2hrs and before darkness kicked in. This afternoon, my wife was out seeing friends (ladies that lunch) so after tinkering with my pal's pistol, I decided to pop round to my dairy farm to shoot a few crows that along with the pigeon get stuck into the cattle feed. First shot on the barn roof, nothing,
  6. Oh my god no, we are old farts so hand pumps would likely give us a heart attack ?. We have several air tanks each so always use them. It has a max pressure of 250bar and the air cylinder is not so big so if you don't have a tank, a hand pump should be fine.
  7. It looks superb Jimmy and so much more detail in the wood showing on the big screen rather than the ones you sent to my phone. The only issue with this gun is the stock...................... no thumbhole................... ? Phil
  8. My pal just bought a Snowpeak PP750 pcp pistol, we checked it a the shop on the skan unit, 5.2fpe. I fitted a laser torch on top and set it for 10mt, amazingly accurate, 6 shot mag, pellet on pellet rested on a bag with the slide out stock thingy pressed against my gut, staying very stable. My pal works in a rural site office where the rats and rabbits come through the surrounding fence, already taken several rats and a rabbit eating one of his plants just by the fence so roll on the cold weather as the rat population increases as they come for the bird seed fallen on the ground. I really e
  9. It was shooting the wmr barrel all the time at first when my pal owned it but I only have the hmr barrel on but from what I recall, the wmr barrel shot well.
  10. Not used the .22lr for a while preferring the .22 fac air but started to use it again with a smile on my face. I think I am going to sell the Sako Quad HMR/ Wildcat mod with spare .22 WMR barrel as it is just used, not one shot this year. I have always fancied the .22 10/22 semi auto but heard bad things about them jamming etc. Phil
  11. I agree with you Jimmy, I would never buy a sub 12 version, what is the point of all that adjustment for sub 12, it is a gun designed for full power not 12fpe. Phil
  12. My .25 fac was as good as gold as well.
  13. Welcome to the mad house. I don't think he will take much notice as the thread was started in 2008, dorment since then and I don't think he is on here any more. Phil
  14. Well the gun is now back with Sportsman to sort the issues including an air leak somewhere, not impressed and it was not mine but my buddy who the gun belonged to is so pissed off, he waited 6 weeks to get it then sending it back doubles the pain. Fingers crossed they will sort it.
  15. Can't agree with you regarding fac versions Jimmy...........................anyway how are you doing mate.
  16. No not mine, I don't have the cash and if I had, I would not buy an sub 12 Impact, fantastic fac but to me a waste of money in sub 12 but my close buddy had made his mind up to have one. He is in Spain at the moment but asked me to set it up so after a good clean and fit the Airmax 30 compact scope. His choice of pellet was AA Fields as they are what he uses in his other guns but at 25mt in the rfd range the grouping was shit so digging out some other pellets including JSB Exact, JSB Heavy and AA Express all of which produced better groups than the AA Fields BUT not groups that I would be hap
  17. Even a numpty like me can fit both in less than 10 mins................honest DB.
  18. Ratting........................sport of kings, well me and my buddy anyway. ? Phil
  19. My Tikka T1x is cracking, I found the RWS gave the best results by far although Eley subs were close. If you look on ebay, you can get a different set of grips to change the angle of the pistol grip and also if yo like a fuller shape to the forend, again you can get an extra clip on forend. I have fitted both and find it a far better comfort for both and it takes only a few minutes to fit them. Phil
  20. Well done, when the farmer sees you bothering about crows that nobody else can be bothered with, you are on to a winner.
  21. The hides worked well this afternoon in terms of the few birds that were around took little notice of the new hides. Having been on the rifle for the last few weeks, It can play havock with shooting with the shotgun but after a few misses on those very wary crows, I managed to take one or two along with a couple of pigeon but conditions were not ideal with no breeze and quite humid. We were happy that the hides were just about spot on for this shooting although I wish I had taken the air rifle as well as a few woodies were sneaking in on the sitty trees. It has been quite some while sin
  22. I must admit the weather today is warm and quite humid, not quite ideal to be taking loads of wood, tools etc up the fields to build two permanent hides for both shotgun shooting but also perfect for air rifle as they are only about 15 - 20 yds from two sitty trees. We are lucky as all the cammo netting we use and all the wood support posts are free as we get them from the village tip and the worst is perhaps me having to cut 3 x 3'' post down to 2 x 2'' posts in order to get them in the ground a bit easier. Back home for a bit of lunch, cool down and off again in a few minutes to try the
  23. I have shot 3 times at my dairy farm perm in the last two weeks taking my buddy down last night. It is not a mega perm now the rats have almost gone ( it was a 1000 a year rat perm and sadly missed ) but nevertheless it is enjoyable to go and shoot 12 - 20 birds a session and home again in a couple of hours. Last evening we had just walked into the yard and I saw a feral sat on one of the barn roofs which is where we shoot most of the birds including crows, I took the shot and the bird dropped off the roof and with a flutter hit the ground with a thud, within a second one of the farm cats cam
