  1. As said before, try one if you can. The 'near eye' type is good for the rabbits while laid out in wait but I found when constantly scanning farm buildings etc for rats and feral pigeons they are a pain in the arse, far far easier to hold the gun on the hip or tripod and using two eyes scan the area and the bonus is at hip height, no flare back to your face from the screen, oh yes, you will get flare with near eye as well. I take far more shots at hip height with the nv than at eye level and far more stable than you might think but you can't do this on a 'near eye' nv. Try one...............
  2. Welcome aboard, blimey this is a 7 year old thread but never mind. My shooting pal bought one last year to help relive his youth. Phil
  3. Yes Mitch is no longer here but most of us are anyway what have you been up to in Germany. I love that country and before retiring I used to go over quite a bit, 2 or 3 times a year on business, great beer, great food, and great people I found. It's good to have you back mate. Phil
  4. With all the high tech night vision, some of which I have tried / bought and sold, the two I will not part with are my Viper and Wolf 'NiteSite' being able to skan the area for rats is so much easier with the old TV style units, in fact there is a modern day version of this type of nv on ebay for about £150, one of the lads on here has one but I cant remember who. This is it I think although it looks like the price has gone up a bit. NVS30 Night Vision Scope Infrared Cameras APP WIFI for Hunting & Surveillance WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Model: NVS30.
  5. Stroll on me old dukzzz where the hell have you been hiding, never mind James, it good to see you back on here matey. Phil
  6. I do agree with you but the change of cattle feedes simply removed much of the food source so the rats moved away and the cats keep numbers down now as there is only a fraction of the population of rats there now. Phil
  7. I totally agree with you, we had a perm where we shot around 1100 rats per year, fantastic winter sport but then the dairy farm cleaned up its act fitting off the ground feeders, released some feral cats which bred so now there is about 25 cats and the rats have gone. We are just waiting for some feedback from the council as they have major issues with rats at their waste depot with rats chewing through power cables, huge numbers and now almost imune to the poisons so we are in with a chance again. Phil
  8. Sport of kings BN only wish I could get another productive ratty perm. Phil
  9. It.s a little dandy is that Jimmy but you know that.
  10. My pal phoned the other day to say he had bought some of these pellets after seeing rave reviews on the web / youtube so we went to our local rfd who has a 25mt indoor range as part of the shop. My pal had managed to get both .177 and .22 so he could try his two FX DRS rifles, in short the outcome was excellent with one hole groups in both cals. I had taken my fairly recent purchase BSA Ultra .22 and my FX Wildcat .22 fac to try them in. The Ultra was not a roaring success however and compared to the AA Field pellets they were not as tight a group, 20mm at 25mt so not good enough for me but
  11. The guy never came back on the site so I don't think you will get very far on this occasion. Phil
  12. I would be tempted to contact Sotherby's as they have the staff who can advise the value and if it is something they could be interested in and don't be put off because its Sotherby's as they have lots of people with queries such as this. Phil
  13. One of my favourite forms of shooting although I tend to shoot a good number of them on top of the various barn roofs at my dairy farm perm. A great pity that I was told no more shooting at this farm until at earliest Jan 25 due to cattle virus so nobody other than farm staff allowed at present, looking forward to next year and get back on the job. A summer evening knocking down ferals, crows and a few woodpigeon chucked for good measure, really good sport. I remember shooting a feral off the rooftop earlier this year and as it hit the ground one of the farm cats appeared from nowhere, grabbed
  14. This version of the Dreamline was called the Streamline which I had and a lovely gun it was just do not know why FX changed the name. I am sure you will enjoy that. Phil
  15. I think the AGT is heavier than the hw100 depending which model. There is also the hw110 which is just as accurate as the hw100 but much lighter, I had two hw110 in both .22 and .177, wish I had not sold them. My buddy has just bought an FX DRS in .177 with a .22 on order, very light a very accurate, I am hoping he may sell me one of his hw110 guns at the right price. To give you an idea of the hw110, I popped on a nightsite onto my old .177 , laid out 5 used shotgun cases on their sides so we were looking at the underside of shell, my wife who has never had a shot with the nv on, shot each c
  16. I have had similar thoughts a while ago when my rfd brought in a pair. I had a play with one in the range, extremely accurate on the 25mt range with one hole groups. Just as the impact was so different when it came out, so is the AGT, it has it's own feel. I did not buy one as it could not afford it, would I buy one if I could afford it.........well that is the question, I don't know, having had the impact and loved it, I think I may stay with FX because having had several FX fac guns, I have no reason to move away from them and if I were buying either of them as a sub 12, I would not spend s
  17. The Webley Raiders are well worth having at that price because they fetch more than those prices in the shops. There is one in my rfd at £400. The old BSA Mercurys are nice, I have one which is a nice gun to shoot. Phil
  18. The second photo and that smile says it all Jimmy.............................................. that is the look of 'I am having this ' ! ! ! ! By the way, I think you are far too old to be jumping about on a tramolene my dear OLD friend. Phil
  19. Whilst the information is valid, this is the AIRGUN section so perhaps you need to post this in the rimfire / centrefire / shotgun section where it is likely to find more people who will be grateful for the info. Phil
  20. Just got back from 2 weeks in Suffolk at our favourite place, Highlodge shooting ground where we rent a lovely lodge and the lake is 20' in front of our verander. The weather is normally spot on in early September but this time we had some rain and high winds along with cold nights. As with british weather, it soon changed and the sun blasted down and out came the fishing rods.................................I would normally have around 6 carp per session (not the big boys like we have in my syndicate pond however) but not this time, the lilley pads had been cut right back in my swim and the
  21. Read the last comment above mate all sorted now.
  22. Yes indeed clean kills, the distance is 10mt for each shot which may sound weird but from his office window there are some stone set at that range so it has been a case to take the shots when the quarry is at that range. This is easier than it sounds because the vermin come into his site from the same spot so it is not an issue to get them in the right place. Phil
