  1. It sounds like ir may have been a Rapid Mk1 or 2 which reminds me I had one in .22 fac, big - heavy - old but what a tack driver.
  2. Hw100, HW110 x 3, BSA Ultra x2, FX Streamline, FX Wildcat x2, FX Wildcat fac, FX Impact fac, Air Arms 200T x 2, Air Arms s410, Snowpeak P30. I think there are a few others as well but I can't just think of them so £18 on this many guns over the years, well for me thats not much of an ongoing service / repair cost. The only new guns were HW100, one HW110, FX Wildcat fac Phil
  3. They are Turkish made by Hatsan, this vid may give you some info. Phil
  4. Might be worth looking at the video on their site as you may well be running too high a pressure. The graph with the rifle shows how the output curve looks if filling to a max of 250bar. Daft idea really, if the gun is designed to run at 125bar to give optimum output, that is what they should print on the gun. No regulator so you will have to watch how much poi shift you get. Looks a handy little gun. EBA XV2 WWW.EDGARBROTHERS.COM Founded in 1947, Edgar Brothers is one of the oldest, most well established importers and wholesalers of firearms, am
  5. You have me there, why would you want one, use the mildot as a 'lead' either left or right of the verticle or perhaps I am missing something here. Phil
  6. Interesting comment but for myself owning a number of pcp guns, I have only had to replace a special seal on my old Impact which cost £18 and never had any gun serviced so I can't really agree with you there. Just thinking on, my shooting partner has never spent a penny on his pcp guns either. Phil
  7. Hello Mike, its been a while but nevertheless you are back. I tell people who are in a similar position to you to look outside the box, in other words look at a different sector assuming you are only going to use a sub 12 air rifle, these ideas may work for you. Industrial sites can be a haven for rats and if there is a canal / stream close by, perfect for rat movement. Allotments do get serious issues at times with rats, feral pigeon as well as woodpigeon, not to forget rabbits. Dock areas are full of feral pigeon which crap all over anything below their roost points. fa
  8. This bloody gun has been in my mind so much since watching the reviews that I decided to visit a dealer who I know had one in stock along with a few 694s as well so it seemed a good idea to go and get a feel of them to see what I thought. Where do I start, the gun is quite striking assuming that a black action with orange writing on and a dark laminated stock is your thing, then you will love it. I am a wood man however I really do like the effect of the 688 and would be more than happy to have one on my shoulder. Comparing it to the 694 which were both 32'' it was worth mounting the g
  9. Far far more flexible to use an fac air in any areas, open fields, trees or around building with the ability to turn down the power if needed, cheap ammo and now with slugs, the performance is amazing capable of greater distances than rim fire rifles BUT you pay the price. Phil
  10. Yes Graham or Andy will do a deal on your shotgun but be aware older 28'' guns do not bring in much dosh unless it is a Beretta, Browning/Miroku, good luck with it, tell them Phil Roberts sent you and they will tell you to bugger off ....................... Speak to Andy if you can, he is the one with hair and glasses, Graham owns the shop but is as tight as they come so make a mental note. Phil
  11. Give Crawfords in Scunthorpe a try as they had one or two s/h guns in stock. Phil
  12. I have never liked the look of the Impact but one day in the rfd, there was a s/h gun in .25 fac which I had a session with in the shop 25mt range and fell in love with an amazing gun so I bought it. I found it to be a perfect vermin control gun with long range capability but also in use around the barns on rats at 8mt although I didn't like the look of the gun, it was fantastic to use. I think I was the first on THL to own one and had it for about 6 years and I would have another in .25 fac if money allows. Phil
  13. You can take sea fish to eat providing they are above defra size limits. Most people will take a percentage of their catch home for a tasty meal. Phil
  14. Ah..................oh well you have some accurate feedback which is perhaps not what you wanted but still worth talking to Clay and Game . Phil
  15. I have had a few springers but simply don't enjoy using them other than at targets in a range or my garden, I would never want to use them for hunting. We have a few guys on here who are seriously good springer shooters, I know because I have seen what they can do but I find them too heavy compared to my pcp guns and even with a scope / NV on my guns they are still lighter than many springers without anything fitted. The important thing is to buy a pcp that is not a load of crap................. Phil
  16. A very late response as I never saw this post, I am sorry for that however I have used the Primos tripod for a number of years and have to say whilst there are some other systems on the market, some seriously expensive and some quite cheap, the Primos has proved to be really good bit of kit. Both my shooting partner and myself never go shooting withour taking the Primos with us. It has my vote. Phil
  17. As a late update, I have been in touch with one of the Akios team who is heavily involved with the long term testing of Akion kit before it is released onto the open market. During our texting I found out that one of the 3 piece rods was more than capable of handling a pendulum cast, perhaps not a full tournament pendulum but nevertheless a pendulum cast which is perfect for a fishing situation and that is the Airpower 435 SRS rod and at 14.5ft long it is ideal to use on the uk coast. I am not speaking with knowledge of this rod but I suspect that with braid, it will still give good bite dete
  18. I am not qualified to give you an accurate response however as far as I know, providing you are not using the 'SUPER STEEL' cartridges, you can use any choke but I stand to be corrected on that one. I would be tempted to contact Clay & Game who are specialists in cartridge production and reloading equipment and methods. I have spoken to them at a game fair and they were very helpful. Clay & Game WWW.CLAYGAME.CO.UK Clay & Game provide the shooter with all the components to produce their own shotgun cartridges at lower costs and higher performanc
  19. Now that is the way to finish the season off Neil, well done that man. Phil
  20. I have both a 3lt bottle and a 12lt bottle which suits my needs but the thought of a Hills manual pump gives my old body the shakes let alone actually using one................heart attack to follow. Phil
  21. I think so and yes I have been lucky enough to own some of these guns but now as a pensioner with limited money coming into the house, it is not possible to buy some of the guns. I did look at a Browning 725 in my local dealer and I have owned a couple from this manufacturer but I just do not get on with them, far more muzzle flip compared to Italian guns in my humble opinion.
  22. The sun has been blasting through here all week, in fact I was sea fishing yesterday in shorts and T-shirt and had a couple of days in Suffolk Tue / Wed, again hot and sunny, we were in the hot tub for ages. You know how the saying goes ' the sun shines on the rightous ' Phil
  23. I can only agree with you, no matter what gun I fancy trying, I always go back to Beretta and have owned a number over the years, the only guns which have compared well in my ownership was a Perazzi and Caesar Guerini both of which were superb guns. My first love however is still the Beretta........
