  1. Mine are fed mainly on turkey necks or rabbits, put them in a high bowl and they will take them out and eat them of the floor. Sometimes they lie down with them, sometimes they dont and they seem quite comfortable either way - point is they eat them off the floor through choice.
  2. Best cross is a 3/4 grey 1/4 deerhound to a 5/8 3/8 bull grey - see classifieds for more info on pups
  3. I'm near Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire. Not far from the M40.
  4. I recently bred my 5/8 3/8 bull/Grey bitch to a 3/4 Grey 1/4 Deer dog with the intention of keeping a bitch back. She had 4 dogs and 4 bitches, the rest of the bitches and two of the dogs have gone to mates and I have two eight week old dogs for sale £150 each. The mother works all quarry you would expect of a dog of this type single handedly (legal stuff only - obviously!). She is mainly used on the lamp or with the terriers but also has an incredible nose and is forever hunting up and jumping the fallow which populate my area in such numbers - good job she will drop on command and cease
  5. I presume you will be transporting the pup back to yours with its mother - under our wonderful new Welfare of Animals Act 2006 it is now an offence to transport a dog under eight weeks old without its mother. It is also illegal to transport an animal under one week old which makes you wonder how you get the terrier puppies to the vet at no older than 5 days to get them docked?! Anyway its a cracking looking pup Redmoor, I'm sure you will have loads of fun with him. I used to have a beddie whippet back to a greyhound - Gyp She did occasionally uncurl herself and when she di
  6. Spot on Bobo - he would more the size of my lurcher than a terrier if that was an otter! And if he did have that kind of accident I wouldn't be taking pictures of it, let alone posting them on a public forum. Red bitch should be just right for entering this season and has come a handy size. Her mum was a good worker but was unfortunately killed working a vixen earlier this year. Charlie ended up in a stop end three foot under a cotswold stone wall and took some getting to. Had a bad time in recent years for losing dogs as Scrumpy, Buster's mum, died earlier this year when she wouldn't
  7. Haven't got many photos of my dogs so I got the camera out today! Min, hasn't seen many yet but met a couple of adults and plenty of cubs at the back end of last season - high hopes for the coming year, she should be able to get to pretty much anything Unlike Buster, a big lad who has his uses. Can be a bit boring to dig to though, as one mate says "its just f***in corpse retrieval!" This one was only two spadefuls down, we sat down for a fag to let him get settled, by the time we had smoked a fag and broke through rigor mortis was setting in! On holida
  8. nice pictures Moll shame old big ears didnt jump up in front of the bigguns!
  9. I have been feeding my dogs, including rearing puppies on the barf diet for over 10 years and find the dogs do far better on it than on processed commercial food. Also cheaper and the dogs produce much less crap and it is more solid and less smelly so much less work cleaning up kennels. The main base of my dogs diet is raw turkey necks. I also feed lots of raw rabbits, skin, feet, guts the lot and make sure my dogs are wormed once a month (which is a good idea if you have a lot of dogs in a kennel environment anyway). They also get some raw meaty lamb bones occasionally and venison bones,
  10. I've got both, I prefer bitches but dont think it matters as far as working ability goes - as an old keeper said to me, bitches are a pain in the arse for six weeks of the year, dogs are a pain in the arse all year!
  11. Hi all, I'm new to this site but have been visiting smoochers under the name Hern. I have three russells, a red fell and a bullx, plus a litter of pups from the lurcher at the mo. I whip in for a pack of beagles and also shoot (shotguns, a .22 rimfire and a 30-06) and enjoy ferreting and fishing if I ever get the time!
