  1. And that is how it should be, working dogs shared amongst working people, feedback when it comes, good or bad is what keeps these lines alive. Great bit of positivity for the terrier world.
  2. Red boxes must be crook! Saw one showing 2.9m last week, never been more than 1.2m in the same place before. Did make us laugh though !! Wish it was feet! More sweat and swearing but sorted eventually.
  3. We had a few over in the 80's " yes Neil" no room for these any more, they were talented but also problematic. " big word for me!!!!"
  4. Had my lakie dog today patheticcally trying to bay and foot stomp a bee, this old lad has very little respect for anything and to his fault rarely speaks. To see him making a major thing of this bee just made me chuckle, lve heard more off him tday than in his eight yrs. " summer time happiness" at least now I know he can bark.
  5. Diagnosed with Lyme's disease two years ago, not a problem I can recommend to anyone....! Proper knocks you about.
  6. Big lot of red sand, fairly deep where I was, needs a keen dog to hang on and hassle em. Plenty of stuff around and good with the locals. I'm 30 mins away. Good luck, unless yr used to it the sand can catch ya. Dig a big big hole, quickly, from my experience, plenty of game though, fill ya boots.
  7. Yep suppose yr right, we do tend to rush nowadays! Thanks for bringing me back to the happy years. How we forget !!! Praised to persucuted in a very short time.
  8. Looks like a twenty minute puppy place to me!
  9. Hmm are they related? Has the line showed problems before? 3 gens and then probs etc, any bad mouths, cleft palates, usual inbreeding clues. Sometimes it just don't jell !!! I've been there my friend and it hurts! Never getting any thing near the expectations, best to best don't always work. And some yard dog gets over a terrier type, and the greatest digging dog in local history emerges!!!!! Why does this wonderful life torment us, when we think we have it cracked!!!!!
  10. Yes there are! I dig with a man that is out 3/4/5 days a week, and before you ask you can't get the blood. Tight as tight and rightly so IMO.
  11. I saw this stuff in the 80s absolutely spot on. Each dog matched to the earth, very talented knowledgeable man, with few to beat him on a shovel. " not my kind of dog" but hey! Results speak wonders.
  12. Pm me, terrier work only, must be able to get out of bed 3 times a week, fat useless wonna bes stick to the net.
  13. Well you was offered enough dog work to retire on and never replied in a previous thread, so I will form my own opinions ON YOU.
  14. I wrote a long and passionate reply to all of this, and then thought hey! Different ground, different expectations, breed, man on the shovel, pleasure, business etc. That's why we have opinions and arguments. So I deleted it.
  15. I've travelled and dug all over, including the trials, men if the 80s and 90s were more respectable and able to find a dog, locators were unreliable and we looked and learned. Now IMO the system is easy, walk 40m dig down 1.5 to a thump every now and again. Its about learning IMO. Them days it might take 3 hrs to find the dog, never mind dig it!!! Only my thoughts chaps. It makes and gives experience, when it goes tits up its grand to have knowledge in the bank.
  16. Been rough on ours also, mine look poor and in need of some R&R lots of mange on our quarry, we are done now bar lambing calls. Time to start them young guns without the pressure, little look then saved till later.
  17. Great positive evidence for the need to keep these capable working champions going. Lovely to watch, several of mine have been regular beating dogs, but I've also had to abandon many days searching with my ear to the grd. I'll never complain about that.
  18. For me the best have all showed that drive very early on, self entering at a young age, I now recognise it and hold em up once I see that glint in the eye. All of em have had that extra gear, in their work and all have showed strong finding and staying abilities. This is not tobe confused with pushing a pup to early or expecting miracles from babies.
  19. Pm me some info, see what i can do, only need help on week days though. Must be keen though and able to get out of bed at stupid oclock.
  20. Hard hard day today, three digs 1.0m to 1.4m took 3 of us nearly all day. My gym membership, will have to wait. Come home looking like a ghost, chalk was hard and the flints cut me and my clothes and the tykes to pieces. God loves a sinner! That is character building ground!!!!!
  21. W.Katchum tried to pm you, apparently you can't receive PM's ?
