  1. Looks about right Mark, my hw100kt .22 groups the same with faps. I am convinced that unless you are indoors testing it only takes a small change in wind direction and your groups can turn bad. This is highlighted when shooting from enclosed or covered firing points. You feel no wind but the minute you walk forward there is a 5mph breeze changing direction etc causing havoc. Watch Huntersvermin on You tube his newly bowkett tuned s10 manages a 0.6" group at 30 yards rested in a very light breeze, sheltered. I did a 0.5" 14 shot group the day before with faps at 30 yards sometimes
  2. Had a re-think. I think regardless of conditions I will go to 45 yards max with the .177 and 40 yards with the .22. Each to their own but its not worth trying to push for another 10-15 yards for me.
  3. Struggled today shooting the wind was variable and changing direction. The best I could do was 3/8" groups at 30 yards and 1.5" groups at 50 yards. I would use the .177 R10 in perfect conditions at 50-55 yards but anything less than perfect and I would not push anything more than 45 yards. The .22 Hw100kt I would push to 45 yards max but would want to keep it at 40 yards and in. I also think a limiting factor could be my scopes being 3-9x40 and 4-12x44 so more mag would help. i should drop the bushnell 8-32x40 on to the R10 lol but it would look silly. The R10 could become a long r
  4. Try a micrometer on pellets head size and you would be surprised that the JSB Exacts at 5.51 would likely be well under that size as would 5.52. Maybe around 5.48. I have just done a falcon accuracy plus that was 5.48 and it should be 5.52. It's the batch or run of pellets that is the key as you likely already know. I hope the superdomes work as I could get them cheap as chips and locally available but everything I hear is that they drop to much and after 40 yards get a little erratic. My .22 hw100kt can do x14 shots at 30 yards with super h points after that not so good. Keep us
  5. The black R10 super carbine I just got cheap (new) before the SE came out. .177 lots of shots off the buddy bottle quiet with a huub shroud fitted I dropped a huma reg straight in it and a lightweight spring guide. Its very accurate, quiet, operates nicely bit of a bargain for £525.
  6. I dont push past 50 yards and even 50 yards has to be a very calm day. I prefer the ambush technique up to 40 yards as when the chance present's itself I want to make the shot count. Where I shoot the area has had a lot of pressure and even the slightest glimpse of danger they are off. I dont see rabbits until the last 5 mins of daylight so have to rely on NV. I tend to setup 30 yards down wind of the warren use the rangefinder to pick out markers, full camo tucked in to a hedge with netting sitting with a bipod. Put the Nitesite Viper on and night time rangefinder and its ok. Jus
  7. Hit the range today. Had to turn the power down on the .22 Hw100kt, now doing 576ps max with 15.9gr Jumbo exacts these are the most powerful in my gun. So about 11.72ft/lbs now. This leaves the Exact Rs /faps doing about 617fps max and 610fps min. 11 to 11.3ft/lbs. The faps shoot really flat compared to the jumbos and h&n ftt pellets. I cannot run them any faster without going over the top with the most efficient pellets 15.9gr jumbos. I recalculated the faps bc which came back as 0.026, this was backed up when using chairgun and the clicks required out to 55 yards that it
  8. I think it goes deeper than a labour govt coming into power. It's a complete culture turn around, driven by many different ingredients from the end of the 80's onwards.
  9. When I was a nipper (born 1973) all the kids on the estate played Brits vs Germans, cowboys vs Indians all with replica toy guns 303's, luger pistols you know what I mean kids replica toy guns. It was never frowned upon and was the norm. Move on 35 years and kids toy guns are frowned upon by many parents and anything gun orientated is now viewed in what I would class as a non rational manner. A rifle is a tool, like a hammer/axe or a car. All are designed to fulfil a purpose but any can be modified or used in a fashion which is dangerous to others if required. Imagine kids doin
  10. My R10 doing 710fps at the muzzle had the 10.34gr exact heavy's showing a bc of 0.0271. I reckon 575fps 7.6ft/lbs at 43 yards 40m approx. Enough to go in and out the other side....lol watch your back stops.
  11. My .177 R10 using 10.34gr exact heavys if using the 4ft/lbs to kill would be ok at 115 yards.
  12. Using a 8.44gr pellet in .177 to achieve 4ft/lbs at 40m you would need 600fps (6.75ft/lbs) at the muzzle which would equate to 464fps (4.04ft/lbs) at 40m. I have heard 3ft/lbs to kill a rabbit, so 400fps in 8.44gr at 40m. So a muzzle energy of 5.07ft/lbs. Thats my calcs using chairgun.
  13. https://www.hn-sport.de/en/air-gun-hunting-target-shooting/field-target-trophy-177 Play around with the above. Scroll down to ballistic calc.
  14. Not convinced that smooth twist barrels can cut it below 12ft/lbs I would need to be sure before spending £1k on a wildcat.
  15. Ordered x5 tins of Jsb exact Rs 5.52 .22 as will as x5 tins of Jsb exact heavy's in 4.52 .177. The only thing that concerned me about the Rs was that the Falcons skirts were not the best a bit like AA fields in terms of strength. Anyway I bit the bullet and took the chance on the Rs. I was pleased to find that the new tins were very good quality much better than the faps. Weighed some and got bored very consistent through the Hw100 I chrono'd x10 shots, 622 618 11.39 ft/lbs 624 11.61 ft/lbs 622 622 623 621 623 622 622 I then tried Jsb jumbo exacts 15.9gr which
  16. I agree £4£ the Hw100 is the daddy.
  17. I can't see how Daystate dream up prices for rifles. I say this based on the Hw100, Hw110, R10, S410 and the upcoming new FX streamline. They need a complete re-think on structure and pricing and need to consider not just the visual appearance but the internal quality and after sales. Glad your getting sorted, but I would have a good think about shifting it on, I am glad I did with mine.
  18. Had a Daystate mk3 ftr, once it was out of warranty I got rid and lost about £300 but about 18 months after that the new owner said it was always broke. Best thing I did was move it on, to expensive, to complicated to much to service and repair and unreliable. My s410k I can service and repair Same with my Lg110ft, R10 and Hw100 to at least keep me shooting. Daystate never again.
  19. Shot these two with the R10 Sc in .177 with Jsb exact heavies. Rabbit one with the blood in the ears was 31 yards but I had to shoot it left handed right on zero. Rabbit two was harder navigating a pellet through a wire fence uphill with a decent left to right wind at about 40 yards right on last light. It was facing away and would not respond to a squeak so I had to sneak the pellet over its back into the back of its head. I found it a tough shot, but it worked.
  20. Each to there own, if your comfortable with what you do and it works then its all good.
  21. I love hearing the different accents a simple bit of background info location, conditions rifle setup and a rifle preview. Job done matey.
  22. I like it, individual and throw in some advice and commentary and we have a new Huntersvermin on our hands. You pull off some great shots but still show the misses which we all know happens. Add in some reviews of your equipment/pellets etc as the rifle you use needs a creditable UK hunters review. I have high hopes for you Jim you just need my shooting talent lol. I bought a new camera got myself out there and rolled an ankle 4-5 weeks ago, and its still 3 times the normal size so once sorted I will have some good stuff to watch. Seriously you do good work and I really enjoy follo
  23. I am not knocking anyone but to be shooting vermin etc at 50+yards takes excellent conditions and great skill. 45 yards is all I feel comfortable to to be 100% sure. I am still not decided on which is the best rifle or calibre as it changes daily, but out of the box the Hw100 really takes some beating, with range-finders and ret's that aid holdover along with single figure variation over the chrono the German rifle takes some beating.
  24. I agree if at 18 yards the groups are that bad the other 5.52 tin is the way forward.
