Try Uttings (£170'ish delivered) I have had most of the Hawke range and Mtc's and the Nikon in terms of glass quality is light years ahead but does not come with a fancy ret. If you just want a basic 3-9x40 with front pa but good glass in low light the Nikon for the cash can be hard to be beat. Also look at some of the Bushnell legend ultra HD range. I find on my shoot the rabbits love to come out just as the light is failing and the Nikon/Bushnell's have kept going just that bit longer when the Hawkes/mtc's had given up.

I can highly recommend the Nikon 3-9x40 efr excellent light gathering in low light especially compared to even 50mm objective scopes like hawkes and mtc's etc.

JSB heavy 10.34gr and Bisley magnums are worth a try in the heavy weight division. JSB exacts/AA fields worked in mine medium weight pellets. Just got to try a few as usual
-
Power all over with the hw100 is it a really bad spread of velocity?
-
Even the BSA R10 super carbine in .177 can do it with JSB exact heavy 10.34gr pellets.

If everything checks out in terms of scope, nothing loose etc on the rifle. It could well be the barrel. Normal outdoors at 35 yards would be 3/8" ctc or 1/2" edge to edge. Good days it will be better. But to be honest how often is it perfect and you have a bench to rest on in hunting conditions.

HW barrels ain't the best more so the .22 ones. Nothing an internal polish and re-crown can't sort. Sometimes chopping the choke off helps them I hear. I think 90% of the problem comes from people claiming single hole groups at 55 yards, then someone tries to replicate and unless the conditions are excellent its going to be difficult. I cannot replicate the above outdoors on a normal British day.

Its all about getting a totally wind free environment and a stable comfortable shooting position and the whole pellet and rifle combination right. Throw in even the slightest of breezes and it can really turn quite poor. I would love a trip over to the North West and the indoor 75 yards ranges, it would be a real eye opener in relation to which pellets really are the best. 30 yards gives a slight indication but 50 yards is where I notice the real compatible pellets shine. I might get the steyr cerakote'd olive green and use as a hunting rifle or PX for an FX.

Tried the the Steyr Lg110ft today as I have not really used it in ages. Gave the barrel a clean, set it up with 7.33gr Faps at 840fps avg extreme spread 5fps. Compared to everything else it is so dead to shoot, the trigger is years ahead of general hunting rifles etc. The Bushnell elite 8-32x40 is a gem optically. The steyr has a .177 Weihrauch barrel fitted 1/2" threaded and silenced. I really struggled to get comfy but even so it delivered I have no doubt if I used it for a while and got my position and form sorted the groups would really tighten up. I should really tra

I did a little tuning on the hw100kt in .22. Set the reg pressure at 90 bar and power at 619-625fps. Extreme spread is now 6fps using JSB exact RS 13.43gr. The good thing is that JSB heavy and Jumbo's remain within the 12ft/lbs limit and are slightly more powerful than the RS. Before they were 0.5ft/lbs maore powerful now about 0.1ft/lbs more so it looks like the tune has levelled the power out. Getting 96 shots at full power from a 200bar fill. I fitted the Hw100 tuning springs etc which has reduced the twang/ping. I also used the reg tester they sell. Just converted the garage to

A Group Or Four Hw100Kt .22

Hw100kt .22 Jsb exact rs 30 yards https://youtu.be/KPyYQLPdKgc -
Like most decided to get out today, but the conditions were terrible a strong variable wind blowing right to left and moving me 1" off at 30 yards. Very difficult to put in good groups but the Exact Rs seemed to stand out for me. Not 3 shots groups but one has 5, another 14 and the third 28 shots. My hw100 is strange it seems to group most pellets 1/2" or below at 30 yards in good condition. It even did a sub 1/2 group today at 40 yards with RWS super hollow points, Even let the R10 play. https://youtu.be/Ua3RxHaW4E8

My hw100kt .22 was 6-7fps spread but the reg pressure was low once up to 90 bar it went to 11fps but I did also go from Jumbo exacts to faps. Good thing about 90 bar was is seemed to be quieter and have less twang/vibration. I remember thinking my Steyr reg was going down as it developed a 25-30fps spread using 4.53 Daystate selects, I then decided to try some Exact express and it went back to 10fps spread.

Must be a good tin of pellets weight wise.

Si is right that's why I asked about the vertical stringing. Spot on about the mag o'rings and mag indexer Si. If over 28 shots a variation of 20fps or less is seen, then I would be looking for a mechanical issue. I get a spread over x2 mags of about 11-12fps so +/- 6fps. I have looked around the the norm is 10-12fps spread on hw100kt in .22. If everything checks out the barrel might have gone bad, my Steyr barrrel did and I put a hw .177 on it and removed the LW. Maybe a recrown could be the answer. I am not a fan of the hw .22 barrels they seem pretty poor accuracy wise.
-
A plus side was the 0.4ft/lbs between 15.9gr pellets and 13.43gr pellets has been reduced to 0.1ft/lbs which is nice.

Just serviced my hw100kt .22 after removing the anti tamper on Sunday. Reg pressure tester arrived this morning from the factory my reg was doing 98bar. So I took the belleville washers out cleaned them and the area surrounding and put it back together. I adjusted it down to 90bar and fired it a few times to ensure it went back to 90bar and it reacted quickly after the shot. Set it up doing 610fps with faps. Put it all back together and zero'd at 25 yards and it put all the pellets through the same pellet hole. 14 shots over the chrono revealed and spread of 11fps checking the foru

See what chrono results show first, tired/dirty Belleville washers in reg maybe. Are the groups vertically stringing or just all over the place vertical and horizontal.
-
If the rifle has taken a bump check the barrel support. I have removed the o,ring so it's fully floating on mine. Chrono results will be good to see.

Cleaned the barrel out yesterday and to be quite honest wish i had not got twelve rabbits on Friday and three Saturday and two last night had a bad night loads of flyers and the groups were shit but in all honesty i had not the time to re,lead the barrel so im going to stick with them for now but if they still group shit its back to jsb exacts 15,89 5,52 im afraid mind when they hit the rabbits just lay down not even a twitch they were spot on Friday and Saturday atvbmac  I keep hearing 5.50 JSB jumbos 15.9gr are good in hw100's but have never tri

How are you finding the superdomes in the Hw.
-
Not yet, thought I would put a few mags through and when the reg pressure tester turns up set that and then re-check power. I can live with a 12fps spread, its about the same as my Steyr and R10 in that respect.
-
£320 that's half the price of the new hw110.

Just realised my hw100kt is now just over 12 months old, so decided to remove AT and setup so that I can adjust if required with ease in the future. Nice thread on Airgun forum helped. Pretty easy to do. http://www.airgunforum.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/182879-hw100-stripdown-service Now doing with JSB exact rs 13.43gr in fps. 12fps spread. 612 613 609 11.06 ft/lbs 615 618 617 614 621 11.5 ft/lbs 619 618 617 612 617 614

Stretching The Range - Part 2. Hw 100 Kt .177
Gary73 replied to mark williams's topic in Airgun Hunting
Look at it this way £4000-£5000 FT setup out to 55 yards, how many cleared courses do you see in the regional leagues or the GP's, Euro's, Worlds by the best in the World. Then throw in HFT as an even better example only out to 45 yards with the same kind of gear, how many cleared courses by how many people. LOL convinced myself now 40 yards max, average day 30-35 yards. I did some testing inside a barn at 30 yards today and will post the pics up which confirm my thoughts for me, others might be better shots. Here are the result indoors 30 yards, bipod and rear rest 5 shot groups J
