  1. Same round here some really good ground burries ruined hedges dug out and the rabbit live in with them. I'm not risking the girls putting them in there. Cheers Arry
  2. when I was a youngster my father took a small poodle cross I think sky terrier off a bloke who was beating it in the pub and brought it home. Well to say I was gutted was an big under statement, all my mates had Jack Russell's or Fox Terriers. My father told me just to take him out, well I did but not with mates didn't want them to see me with this fluffy little thing. Turned out he was a great rabbiting dog or ratting, after tilling both sides of a hedge I could get him to sit one side and i would stand on top, had to pick the burries but he would hold them for me. He would mark or flush rabb
  3. I can't speak for the Mk2's but the Mk1's thats the grey rectangular box's play up around wire fences, sheets of wriggly tin scrap metal etc. Electric fences you pick up the click of the HT pulse. Try putting your collar on your lawn and test the distance to see if its reading right. As for the Mk2 Im sorry to say nobody seems to like them or has any thing good to say about them. Cheers Arry

  8. Having used hemp all my life I now use spun polyester bright florescent yellows and reds. Cheers Arry
  9. i do the same as Ferretracer works for me. My mate buys malt paste 10 at a time on line which we share out works out cheaper. Cheers Arry
  10. Great shots nice looking ferrets they always seem to like old logs, keep meaning to get some pics of mine in a log pile or tree stump. Cheers Arry
  11. I can recommend the roughneck as Gaz 1989 said, got mine from jewsons. I put a rope through the handle then to the shaft and sling it over my shoulder. Cheers Arry
  12. love them blue leg bar egg's lovely orange yolks. Good thread this. Way on down south Cheers Arry.
  13. Good offer mate. Cheers Arry
  14. Last year towards the end of the season we caught quite a few with lumps and bumps not sure if it was tape worm cyst though, but this year so far it seems clear. Cheers Arry
  15. Good haul lads. We don't get numbers like that. Cheers Arry
  16. On reading you post again you say "under the depth wheel" are you talking about the on/off depth switch? If so, I think but not 100% sure they are 5000 Ohms as the only marking i can find on the switch is B5K. K = 1000 so 5K makes it 5000 ohms. this switch should have five legs. The ones you have marked 100R are 100 ohms. I have bought them of the guy on ebay fitted them and they work fine. Cheers Arry
  17. Vr1 and vr2 are usually blue in later boxes black and in the centre there is a slot for adjustment. They should have 2 legs in line and the middle 1 slightly off set a little so not quite in line. They are different values one of them is 100 ohms and should have two sets of numbers on it, one of the set should read 100. The other one will have 1m this means 1 ohm, So its 100 times less resistance. I bought 2 of each off Mallinson Electrical for less than £2. Cheers Arry
  18. recon its the most common fault with the mk1 , brought a few of my boxes back from the dead by fitting new on/off depth switch. A guy on ebay sells them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ferret-Finder-on-off-depth-switch-Deben-Terrier-Locator-/252255043836 Cheers Arry
  19. They will be fine mate. Did you find anybody to show you the ropes? certainly seem keen enough so good hunting. Cheers Arry
  20. I think they are the variable resistors or preset vertical trimmer potentiometers. I've fitted these in one of my boxes, the one marked 1m is 1 ohm and the other is 100 ohm. i got them from Mallinson Electrical. Little tip change one then the other as easy to get muddled up as they look the same. They are adjustable to set your depth, us a small terminal screw driver and car full not to force. Cheers Arry
  21. I acquired some nets the a while back four foot too two foot six, now these two foot six ones look really tiny only fifteen knots wide. Anyway we tried them (my mate more than me) in tight places in brambles and black thorn tight hedges and they catch really well no extra net to get tangled up. Took me a while to have faith in them little nets. Maybe worth a try. Cheers Arry
  22. Mildest wettest windy winter I can remember. Young in the rabbits, saw a blocked nest hole yesterday. Few weeks and there will be young very were down here, Its going to be a sort one. Cheers Arry
