In 1975 I was letting out motor boats and rowing boat to the grockles (holiday makers) on the harbour at Paignton. This lovely girl came along in the late afternoon selling the local paper. She asked me if I would like to buy a paper I replied no thank you but I would like a date for Friday night. She replied no chance all my work mates and some boat boys all laughed and took the piss out of me. So I bet them all a fiver I would get that date. I went up to the red box where all the papers were stored and she would stand and gave it some charm. I got the date for Friday night, she was 16 I was

Out with the Beagles today so knocked up a big bruiser to keep me going Lol. Baking tray is 9" x !5" Small one is about the size of a Ginsters standard one made from left overs. Cheers Arry

Well the family is off to Colombia for Christmas, so Wifey and I will be just the two of us. We have had single mother and her teenage lad for Christmas dinner couple of years before last, they were ill last year, so we had Christmas dinner at Easter. She at her mothers this year, might do something Boxing Day. So instead of a big roast I'm going to do a buffet, with every thing can think of, Wifey likes the idea. I can pick and drink all day Lol. Just had a quick read on a site. Now that in a nice find, I particularly like the fact it has a Hare carved into it. Something special about the Hare and how its sort of its worshiped or revered. 1500-Year-Old Roman Ring with a Tiny Hare Was Discovered at Hadrian’s Wall in Britain and It’s Absolutely Stunning. Been ferreting all my life Bob always leave some. When I was a kid number were very low four of us would go out all day for a brace and take in turns to have a rabbit. Seen numbers rise and fall, some of the best numbers down here were just before RHD hit. My father told me there were hundreds when he was younger before Mixie hit. So rabbit numbers can rise and fall dramatically but they always seem to come back. Now patchy, theres few more on the other side of that permission. I know it's always sad in a way. But it was the best thing, She was nearly blind hardly had a tooth left and was fading away like so many do in old age. She was the most gentle ferret I ever had you could let a baby play with her never ever nipped anybody. Cheers Arry

Still have one of you boxes Jok but have fewer ferrets so I don't use it. Rabbits are very patchy now down here. Also I'm slowing down feeling the years but still getting out. Used to be setting off before it got proper light and go on all day. Now 8.30 and 12.30 or 1.00 its, f**k it lets go and have a cup of tea lol. No youngsters interested its a dying game. Only lads I know still doing it in my town were in the same class as me when we was at school, 59 years ago we left. Shame init all that gear stored away all that knowledge lost. We only did two hedges in that field and left the other two which have a few in. I get where your coming from Bob but its not us that cleaning them out its RHD. I have other permissions that had a good head of rabbits end of last season on some the rabbits are gone compleatly. If I was a younger man maybe I could pack up for a season or two but I'm 74 mate, I don't know how much longer I have left. I like to get out in the fields and I think its use it or lose it.
