Up on the side of Dartmoor in the Dart Valley foraging for Fungi today. 30 foot plus Rowan tree absolutely packed with berries. Wifey thinks we nearly went through a portal. Then it was gone. Lol. Just one Cep big bugger mind. Cheers Arry -
Yes Fred could well be a Penny bun / Cep but a job to tell. Keep an eye out in the same area for more. Heres is a big one o found today the only one I had so big I had to cut in half to get it in the basket 9 inches across. Few little maggots in it but Penny Bun/Ceps are such good mushrooms I'm going to eat it or cut it up and dry it. Should cut white and stay white. Should have white sponge turning olive as it get old. I love this time of year trees turning colour the berries and nuts the mushrooms the start of the Rabbiting even some good sea fishing if I can fit it in. The detecting is better as well damp soil and not sweating my cobs off. Also the atmospheric mornings with the mist lying in the valleys and if your stood on a hill it looks like a White Sea with islands. Great time of the year. Cheers Arry

Going back to villages. A lot of properties were privatly rented by locals rents were put up and up or evicted then sold. As said money is the root of the problem and no new social houses built even after right to buy they never used the money to build more. Cheers Arry

There is an element of truth in that as well mate but its the house agents that sell the houses and they want the bucks. Also planners here are not interested in social housing or first time buying property's. Builders are no longer local Builders it's big corporate companies that what to build 4 and 5 bedroom houses on the side of the river and the planners let them get away with it. Or as I believe they're in the back pocket of the corporate company's. Thats partly true but even fishermen cant afford to live in the village they fish out of. It's people that earn't their money in London places like that that have bought these places. Restaurants, Pubs and Hotels Struggle to get staff because they cant afford to rent or buy. Same goes for nurses cant find accommodation they can afford it's mental. Whole villages empty in the winter all bought out by the rich. My home town now prices gone through the roof because the Sunday papers and Mags say its one of the best places to live.
