Really ? I think if a dog cant kill roe he aint worth keeping personally. Most the pups ive owmed have caught a couple by 8 month -
Spaniels are ok but i just find them too fast and dirty animals to keep.

I spotted birds no problem at all with the pulsars. But to be truthfull i found them more useful when squirrel shooting. Either seeing heat in the dreys or daytime when the sit tight to a limb. Also used it to shoot hares on the flint and partridges when i was bored and the terriers needed a blow out. one thing i will say if u havent bought a thermal yet but your mate has one youll buy one soon enough. Nothing worse than stood like a prick while your mate tries to work out if its a hare laid or a bird ??

I did once see some jack russel x chouha all related long bodied tiny thing but things could hunt i got some good pics of them but prob not suitable for here had to be seen to be believed. I see them catch a munty in quite a fast flowing river and never once let up.was like bullets through bramble

Not seen it mate but could imagine one of those crazy wired soaniels only shown deer would be nuts for it

We got a cocker bitch on the team ive seen it have a mouthful on 4 species absolutely deer mad she is if hes there shell find him and ive got to be truthful even though it pains me to admit ive seen her bolt muntjac and water deer where terriers have failed.
-
Sheeps old red bitch a goodun work anywhere try for anything getting on now and still grafting all winter. also rated my mates old russel as up there with the best i seen her kill muntjac on her own where no other dog could sniff them. Go with a bitch occasionally if you kill ten rabbits shes prob caught half reads the pack and cuts in from no where to make a kill. dog wise not saying flat out bushing but alround and obediance i think my black n tan dog would take some whacking and id be surprised if any busher has killed the variety he has alot of time on hes own.thats a good busher

I seen a couple of coursing dogs you could fire at anything and theyd get to it and try but ive seen far more that over run stuff sit and wait for mistakes only grab where there 100% comfortable. I seen one with a big reputation as a fox and stag stopper slipped on a fox the fox never moved and the dog run at it and scurfed off watching it until it ran ? some coursers kill alot with there funny ways but not for me i like a dog to be a certain way. -
Ive seen deer in places youd never think theyd get into. Apart from hassling them i dont think you will deter them with jeyes diesel ect. Alot of deer live very urban now doesnt seem to put them off

Theres some good stuff about over here just tread carefully my pal got one off a uk breeder its more annoying than any mal or herder the imported stuff thats teeth on a lead types are normally working off nerve not ideal. Id stay away from anything thats police type as again most aint ideal

I did have an ok one couple years back. Had some well bred goldens that wouldnt touch her for drive. But like most spaniels the dirtiness aint for me.

I did sort of break a dog to fawns once aslong as they didnt move hed just stare at them. Where i live its lifting with muntjac and roe fawns and its no fun walking dogs on a lead all summer. I still got a pic of him just stood staring at one in the grass i see if i can find it. that cocker x pat bitch i had off socks she had a thing for finding leverets until i owned her i could count on one hand how many i seen f**k man shed find them daily some parts of the year never harm them just stare at them

My mate lives on a big place no nieghbours but even so i dont know how he put up with it would drive me insane. But i had one was almost like having a person with ya before i had gps collars id regularly lose him round home and hed find hes way back smothered in blood if you had a catapult in your hand hed point to sitting birds and the only dog ive owned that wouldnt just mark a warren but would mark where the rabbit was if he covered a hole 9 times out of ten thats where it was bolting but he had alot of time and miles put into him.
-
As for pures me brother in law had one for abit he run it that much it was knocking hares with its chest but would not under any circumstances open its mouth i see it run loads and loads of stuff and the only body it ever put away was a rabbit that run into a log and killed itself and it picked it up and carried it back to him ???

Alot of the real special coursing types have funny ways ive found and alot of lads wouldnt be able to put up with the headache of them. My pal had a real goodun not long ago all he done all day was bark would set about adults or pups try and bite ya face over hares but you just new when he was on it was dying and when the conditions were shit for most he thrived. I had a pup off the dog and was as feral as him just didnt want to know people. Ive had one or two on the other hand that were as clever as any other dog and no trouble whatsoever but they wasnt as special as some of the headache dogs

Definitely can be rough especially when he gets on a track dog needs to knock him off asap

I could be wrong but the ones i seen i dont think its for any particular reason other than it looks right.similar to us over here with rotts and tails. Good dogs i like them but big place needed.
