  6. Lol it's allways the way ain't it. I find getting out first and last light can produce a decent run or 2 was gonna get out early this morning but think I'm gonna head out with a ferret this evening get a few quick runs.
  7. I don't bother with shredded paper unless it's waxed as it will draw the damp up. I use that vetbed bit expensive but brilliant stuff.

  12. Thanks Phil and leegreen hadn't thought of leading him in the more I think about it the more I'll leave it off until the warmer weather there's a place near me I've seen gundog trainers getting there dogs in and out the water because as said its a gradual slope. It's not that he doesn't like water though lads he just ain't interested in picking anything up while he's in there I've got picks of him in and out the river while fishing at a real young age up until Christmas time but dummy's feather and fur he's just not interested if it hits the water. Cheers for replies folks.
  13. Just thought I'd ask on here see if anyone has any ideas I've got a young 10 month old pup here mainly saluki/greyhound with small collie and bull influence. I keep a few ferrets and instead of feeding them lots of rabbit I shoot a lot of waterfowl off the wetlands near my place. My old dog has allways been a natural retriever of fur and feather and has retrieved shot geese bobbing out to quite some distance through ice and weed ect. The pup is not quite so keen he will drop rabbits and birds he's caught bit short but will bring shot and cold game back beautifully and has done so since a baby
  14. Lovely little thing that bitch good read as well.
  15. Seen a chancy mating on here the other day gaffer dog to his cousin a strong looking bitch. As been said might be worth having a look through some old topics.
  16. Good to hear this hope he makes a full recovery we'll done on them rabbits as well.
  17. Nothing worse than not knowing hope she turns up safe and sound.
  18. Cheers fellers well pleased with him all the signs are good just hope he keeps it up. Lol tb mines got keen for them big rabbits keeps putting them up out of cover when excersing him over the backs runs out of his skin for such a young dog. If you still struggling in a couple of weeks I'm sure I could sort something and pick you up for a few runs just waiting on me dad to get back up and about as soon as he's walking again I'll be up for it. How tall is your bitch now ? Mine seems to have levelled out at about 25.
  19. I love the look of that lurcher on the left keep at them lads.
  20. Had my pup out for the first time lamping last night have to say I was pleased with his performance gave him 6 runs he lost the first rabbit he ran just didn't put enough pressure on it but he made the next five pay sticking to them well and making some good catches. He's retrieving could of been better it's almost flawless on feather but he will have the odd mess about with rabbits but we'll work on it. Not best pic just a quick one to mark the occasion.
  21. Good work fellas well done to dogs and men.
  22. Nice dogs them look well kept that Romeo pup a big lad.
  23. I try and get out at least once a week with a ferret spade and dog. Got a fair bit to go at ferreting wise here plus in my opinion nothing better than watching a keen dog cover a bolt snap it up within yards then take there place back up on the warren. I got my pup working well with ferrets catching a couple of bolters every time out as said teaches them a lot can already see the penny dropping with marking and putting them to ground. Good way to build trust between dog and owner aswell if my old dog says no it means no it's just a waste of time setting nets.
  24. One of the nicest bull/grey litters I've seen in a long time all look real strong and healthy glad I'm not trying to choose one lol good job and best of luck though with the effort you've put in I'm sure you won't need it
