I think these day's when i tell younger folk how much i paid for my house in the 80s they don't believe me. Though the same house i first bought i ended up having to sell it after the pit strike due to the mortgage doubling to catch up on the year i was on strike and my mortgage was froze and moved into a council house with a big garden and in all honesty a lot better house than the 2 up 2 down i had a mortgage on and under the right to buy i bought it and now ime mortgage free.7 points

I looked at a house when me and my wife was first going out, best part of 30 year ago now….it was £60,000 and I remember us racking our heads and think “oh, this is a bit much for us at the minute” That same house today is over half a million quid……but here is the thing, the price I was getting for certain bits of stock is lower now than it was then……diesel was about £0.54 a litre then ? What’s it now?, £1:40 ? (It’s €1:70 + here !! ) In effect you have to work 3 x as hard to have the same or less, that’s not just inflation, that’s a scam any way you cut it. All you could teach me about ferretting....you could fit on the back of a second class stamp young man...when nets are down,my dogs sit and chill out, only move to hold them in the nets until I can get to them, teach them steadiness from the first time they go outI've never watched a podcast,or subscribed to any of you young bloods, you want to go get a f***ing job that plays the bills...instead of relying on your social media following5 points

If the tories had done it first Starmer would have been " furious" . He would have described it as a "moral outrage", and a " scandal". Źzzzzzzzzzzzzźzzz. All the major parties serve big business. Their aim is to maximise profit and minimise pay and public services. It's rich v poor and always has been. It's just more obvious to some of us now. Cutting pensions was an easy option because many of us will be dead come the next election and we have no power. Politicians in the UK have it easy because the rich own the media and continually and successfully divert attention4 points

MPs have voted 348 to 228 to allow approx 4000 pensioners to die this coming winter ( labours figures not mine ) shame on them4 points

100% yes…… I mean it’s a bit of a mute point because nobody is going to pay 100/150 k over the asking price so the reality is he may have said 10 k more and the answer would have definitely been no. 3 years ago I told a bloke to go f**k himself on a job that would have cleared me 40k for a days work and a few emails because I didn’t like his chairman’s tone of voice and turn of phrase at our initial meeting…..I thought they were f***ing rude !, so when he was on the phone begging for the quote I told him “no” If you sell your principals then all anyone is ever doing is negotiat4 points

I always used nordic hiking poles . They're just slightly heavier duty than normal walking poles , and have a better grip. I was advised to try them , but I was a bit embarrassed to be honest . I used just one pole for a few weeks , then switched to two poles . Using two poles was a bit more awkward at first , but you soon get used to them. I can't praise them highly enough to be honest . Once you're used to them , it's like having two more legs . They take the weight off your knees when you're tired , and take the weight off your thighs and ass on those long uphill stretches , and4 points

My nieces in New Zealand were taught Japanese at school . I asked why and they said it was the best language to learn if you wanted a good job. My grandson is still learning Japanese but how difficult must it be to learn four languages; English, Arabic , Japanese and French especially when two of them have completely different scripts to the other two, and one of them writes from right to left ? I loved taking exams and courses and still have an insatiable thirst for knowledge so I guess he takes after his old granda ! Cheers.3 points

It’s a load of money in my world too, but I remember earning £30 a day hod carrying as a kid and at the time that was a lot of money to me but I told brickies to go f**k themselves plenty of times ! Value and price mate, value and price.3 points

Money will make a lot of people loose their principals in a heartbeat. When I sold my house in England I expressly told the estate agents no 3rd world types…..I thought he was going to have a seizure ! Lol He sent one round anyway and I made the bloke sit outside for 2 hours while the estate agent bombarded me with phone calls saying “A potential buyer is outside”, I said “I know, I’m looking at him out my front window” ! ”But he is a cash buyer” I said “I don’t give a shit what he is, I told you no 3rd world types” “But you can’t do that” ”Well I am doing it it3 points

Thats partly true but even fishermen cant afford to live in the village they fish out of. It's people that earn't their money in London places like that that have bought these places. Restaurants, Pubs and Hotels Struggle to get staff because they cant afford to rent or buy. Same goes for nurses cant find accommodation they can afford it's mental. Whole villages empty in the winter all bought out by the rich. My home town now prices gone through the roof because the Sunday papers and Mags say its one of the best places to live. They move in get on the council then start changing the very3 points

I was coming down Pen Y Fan a few years back and a woman behind me had no sticks and was in my opinion wearing wrong kit ( leggings ) she slipped forward if she had grabbed my shoulder she would probably been ok she didn’t, she ended up ripping her kneecap off down to the bone and me and my son arranged mountain rescue where she was then carried down and ended up having an operation in hospital, going forward I will use a stick/ sticks can only help.3 points

The first pic is me in fort William, getting ready to start the three peaks . I'd just eaten two full English breakfasts in that pic . I started ramping up the food a few weeks in advance. You'll need plenty of energy stored in your body. The second pic is me somewhere near the top of Ben nevis. At the time I was still smoking 60 fag's a day. I could never smoke going uphill , but I'd light a fag at the top , and smoke all the way back down. Most folks that do that kind of things are fitness freaks , and would look at my fag in horror . To this day , I can't look at a mars2 points

Sorry mate, my mistake, but the same advice applies to Attendance Allowance. Speak to Age UK and they will do a benefit check for you and if you qualify they will arrange for the relevant government department to do the application on the ‘phone. It takes about 20-30 minutes and they will make a decision then and there. Some years ago when the job centres were closing down and going on line, I did three month pro bono work teaching claimants how to create a c.v. and an email address and write things like covering letters. I was both amazed and saddened at how many people were missing2 points

Thing is it’s the manner in which they do it and pigs are messy and have trotters which leave impressions they also eat the rumin bag as do all British scavengers/ predators only cats remove or eat round the stomach of herbivores before consumption so finding the stomach nearby or still attached is a big clue to the culprit2 points

It's also like my youngest daughter in her 30s she works in the laundrette at the care home the old woman works in and also behind the bar at the local pub her partner works as a sheeter and cladder and they rent a private property. The kid's want for nothing and they have holidays and a social life there is no way they could afford to save for a deposit on a decent house but I know for a cert they would have been able too in the 80s with the work ethic they both have.2 points

It's the same in the Lake District and The Highlands There's got to be restrictions on second homes. It's immoral for young people to be forced away from their traditional areas so yuppies can live in a house a few weeks of the year.2 points

Sound advice that mate.. but I doubt I'll ever do it! Striding edge on my own was bad enough and Crib Goch is definitely a league above that! I am one for going early mind. I did the Whatkin path as a day tip. Up at 2:00 am.. picked my work mate up and driving for 2:30.. parked up at the beginning of the Whatkin path at 6:00 am as it was just getting light. Up down and back at home 155 miles away by 5:30 teatime. Job done. I was a bit knackered mind!! Lol.. Half way up.. 5 th march '22 it was. We were some of the first to the top that morning but the numbers soon started buildi2 points

Here in Devon and Cornwall locals just cant afford a house they have to move. An ex social housing across the road from me has just gone on the market for £500,000 its just gone mental. Wages for a lot of people are low they cant afford to live in their home town. I hear the North South divide but the South West is just being taken over by people that retire down here or by a second home or move down and work from home. Cheers Arry2 points

Id also ask, what’s the price for this “levelling up” in say a nice rural area of Northumbria?…….we got loads of bells and trinkets in the south and a gargantuan amount of shit to go with it…….being in an urban toilet so you can earn £500 a week instead of £300 a week just isn’t worth the cost. If you live like I did on the outskirts of London you have 12 million customers within an hours drive so of course it’s “richer” than some pit village in the back arse of nowhere…….I don’t exactly know what they are trying to engineer ? If they want a farming community to be ok, they could sta2 points
