Spotted these in the advert on FB for our local charity shop. Got there about 20 minutes after they opened and was just in time. Somebody was hanging over my shoulder while I was examining them. So I took the reels away to a different section to have a proper look. After all, they were €8 each and I'm not made of money. ? The Mitchell 300 is the same model as Dick Walker used to catch his record carp and the Mordex Merlin dates from the same sort of 1950's / 60's era.The Mitchells never ra smooth even from new so I wasn't too bothered at the rough running. The best way is that decent lads get a mating and you take pick of the litter, and messers or idiots get no mating. Simple really. I mean, if you thought so litttle of someone or the way they were with terriers, then why would you help them in any way?6 points

Ive just had a look at the article phil and its very clear that this battle is going to be very hard to win because the people behind all these opposals are clearly as thick as shit and have absolutely no idea whatsoever what it is they are talking about. They are just jumping on the eco bandwagon without considering all of the consequences to their stupid, unqualified actions. They simply cant have spent more than 5 minutes out in the woods or down a hedgerow with their eyes open to have noticed crows and maggies scanning the hedge for the nests of the very birds that ARE protected with no li5 points

Cracking shooting jimmy. Like si said, i shoot better when im on my jack jones. I think its just coz we're paying more attention to the quarry and no pressure etc but its nice to share a good long shot or a good stalk when your out with a mate. I was out for a couple of hours on Sunday night with the 99 and bagged 7. 2 of em were bloody cracking shots, even if i do have to blow me own trumpet but no bugger else saw em to appreciate??3 points

All 11 babies are growing fast. I’m feeding them continuously. MEAT, minced rabbit, pigeon, rats etc. Meat will always be best for mustilids of any kind. BUT, I will offer kibble too, some of the homes I have lined up for my babies are going to have them as pets and not workers and they won’t all have access to meat and that is up to them, as long as they are being looked after and loved, it’s the owners choice what they feed them. By offering variety, it will be an easier transition for the new owners. But mine primarily eat meat, even in the summer. I just remove leftovers when they sp3 points

I just canceled my direct debit and went to let them know on their online form that I don't watch BBC but looks like I'll have to do that bit tomorrow as it says I still have a direct debit set up. Shame on the BBC. I only paid my licence to keep them off my back but this was the last straw.3 points

Good times Kev. If I was living up there permanently then I would give a GWP cross a go. Would also get a beagle x type busher. Couldn’t let them range like that down here mate.....we would get into trouble!3 points

Hi Strongbow You're quite correct about that larger print, it does have an accompanying index print which names every single person, hound and terrier. It's a "proper job" as they say. However, it's the Eastern Counties Otter Hounds, rather than the Border Counties and no I'm not on there I'm afraid. Around that time, a number of the packs had prints produced as a way of raising funds and they were quickly snatched up. Below is the Border Counties version, I was lucky enough to be there that day (although not in the picture) and just out of interest it relates to the same day the pho3 points

I spent a couple of hours Sunday evening with the hw100 at one of my permissions this is a recovering shoot as the farmer had some ferrets down just after Christmas but it seems to be recovering quite well. Here’s the proof.2 points

Hoping so fella. My first proper running dog so learning curve for me aswell. Tried to give myself best chance with breed selection for what I'm guna be doing I.e. mainly ferreting and mooching rabbits in small/med fields. So bull strength and Sal stamina not needed for me. Hopefully she comes good ?.2 points

I just copied it from the Pigeonwatch forum. Worth taking a look at their discussions on everything to do with the GLs at present as some good points raised. Also Verminbashers on FB do have some good input (and unfortunately not so good ones i.e. 'those who well I'm going to carry on regardless and post everything' brigrade. Those gas bangers are useless. When I tip the shot in it pours out the other end! And the gas is expensive.2 points

It's a bloody shame the TV is all some old folk have. The old girl across the road who I keep an eye out for is 93 and watches TV all day. She has a carer come in every day but has got to pay for that and if her money runs out has to sell her house, the b*****ds. She tells me how she struggled to save and pay for her house makes me sick how people that worked hard and bought their house get penalised in old age. Cheers Arry2 points

Cracks me up how blinkered some can be. We all hunt in different ways on different terrains in different parts of the country, how can a man at one end the country comment on whether or not a particular cross is any good elsewhere? A dog thats suits me here would be no good for someone who's hunting an open moor and nor would I want a dog that excels at hunting a long distance out. Doesn't mean either is no good just not necessarily suited to the local terrain. A lurcher is alot of things to alot of people, they aren't one tricks ponies and different tasks suit different crosses. How2 points

how does all this affect the pigeon guides who sell pigeon shooting to foreigners and others, in my view if its pest control, even as the licence was, they should not be allowed to sell it the one near me only wants the easy stuff, spring drilling etc, never puts a punter on the rape.1 point

Friday night thought i,d have a pre pheasant delivery fox mooch .Pardnv 007 on a Hawke Vantage 3-12x50 on top of a cz452 in,22.l/r but with CCI segs in for mr charles . Also my spanish pal wanted some bunnies for the b,b,q <his fault the weather,s gone pooh>so the segs do both ,set off about 10.30pm in squalid dirty patchy fog but i thought helps me to hide and the thermal spotter keeps mr charles in view .4 frustrating hours later old charley boy is a no show so back to the car i stomp. Suddenly a suicidal rabbit just pops up from his hole and stares at this big lump in the f1 point

what does one expect to achieve by sticking it a salt block and mineral for deer? the products are promoted in such a way over here that it says it attracts big bucks, well i am skeptical of this view entirely. big bucks come into bait spots looking for does to shag, most of our hunting is based around the rut season, which personally i find wrong. deer love peas, beans and alfalfa but once they have a munch on that they move on. my mate bought 20 blocks of buck attractant,i was sticking them down at all his baits spots. the pigs would come in a eat the whole block1 point

Corrections without association would be my first port of call, drenching the f****r with water and shocking him will cause negative association , dog has no way of filtering you out of that mate, the f****r can’t do reason But it’ll only show in the field and that’s the only place that matters , each to their own1 point

How do you know it’s harmless? if you believe you can introduce a fear response to a stimulus through your actions in clear sight of the dog and not leave a fearful residue, your deluded corrections are best made without the dog directly associating its owner in the process, no doubt,1 point
