  1. A dog I bred last summer that a mate has nearly ready to start his career

  2. Same dog when fit. He looks like a labradoodle in first picture. Nice and cuddly and doesn't draw attention to his intentions. I'd like to throw in some gamey saluki blood for gears in his off spring.

  3. A bit fat at moment but likes his job. First cross so not a speed merchant. Can keep up with foxes when fit though. Not many rabbits here so always on the sharp end. Stripped out he looks more athletic but the hair can cover a multitude of sins.

  4. It's good to hear that hunting lads are still keen to peruse a few books? I remember buying Ted Walsh's, 'Lurchers and Longdogs... Bookwise, the lurcherman had not been well served before this,..then suddenly the floodgates opened and we all had something to enjoy. The tide had turned,..great times lay ahead, everything was so fresh, so new,.. and so exciting...

  5. Last year I got myself an icotec 350 , and I’ve had some success with it but mostly on cubs . After reading some of Jarvis posts he is an advocate of the distressed pheasant call . Well I’m useless on computers and don’t have a computer that can accept an SD card to load the calls . So I was at the midland game fair and called in to have a chat to the guys on the “best fox call “ stand , I explained my predicament and they handed me an SD card loaded with calls and no9 was the distressed Pheasant on the house . They seem a nice bunch of guys and very helpful . I’ve noticed some puffs of feath

  9. My nan took almost three months of being poked and prodded by doctors before she drew her last breath she was around a 100, it would have been far kinder to let her go before the 3 month nightmare as there was only ever to be one outcome, but I can't see any of these wankers protesting about that, it may have had nerve movement but if it had a hole in its head it was clinically dead, it's just all part of the big bullshit machine that sways gullible public opinion in the direction they want people to think ?

  15. Iv seen a horse kick the side of a knacker wagon out minutes after being shot and killed instantly. It's trial by media. There aren't even hoping for legal action, just like with the hunting act. Win the media battle is their aim.

  16. I have to thank Brian Plummer for his Rogues and Running Dogs and Tales of a Rat Hunting Man for opening up my eyes about lurchers and terriers as a young teenager and regardless of what is said about the man, for that i am eternally greatful.

  17. I think that the voting public generally would struggle to accept the idea of killing for fun and can rationalise the need for pest control more readily. I personally only shoot foxes when Ive got to , on pheasant shoots at certain times of year and poultry units and on occasions lambing fields . I find it challenging and I find the fox a beautiful beguiling creature who I have a great amount of respect for . If you came to my house you would see pictures and ornaments of foxes everywhere, I drink my tea from a mug with a fox on it . I more than most people would hate to see the last fox . But

  21. Without a good bitch to start with your on a down hill slope straight off. I personally believe their are plenty of good dogs out there but good working bitchs are not as plentiful. I have always preferred bitchs as to dogs and at present I've only 1dog in kennels rest are bitchs but I have access to a number of dogs if need be and they are dogs that are all related to my own and also well worked and well proven.a good brood bitch is worth their weight in gold IMO and should be treated as such because when their gone its very hard replace them.

As I always say check the tail, it looks like a large domestic to me, here,s a real one, should make 20" -22" at the shoulder and 3ft body length without the tail, for the lads that are into the lamping the eye shine is worth a note as most things light up red cats are big and greenie yellow ?

  33. Id rather have a good working bitch than good working dog if I had to start from scratch, having been to quite a few lads kennels over the years I'd say working dogs outweigh working bitches maybe 3 or 4 to 1.

  46. Books are there mainly for "entertainment". Whilst some have more fiction in than others, I wouldn't knock folk for writing them until Id tried putting one together myself.
