Tikka T3 Lite -- Balance

Recommended Posts

More than 2 years effort, 5 different scopes, 2 different scope mounts, 3 Sound Moderators, an original threading, a subsequent cut and thread and now 6 ounces (about 150g) of lead in the Butt (and pleased don't ask how much money)...the T3 Lite is brilliant...best balance of all my centrefires :D:yes: and still around half a pound lighter then my .243 and .308.....

...but now it's decided it's not very happy about ejecting spent cartridges, extracts fine, just decides to leave the empty sitting on top of the magazine.....

Mr L, is there any perceptible difference is sound reduction between the P8 and the P8 compact?

General suggestion from Andrew Banner is up to and including .243 nothing to tell between the Full or Compact version.

I did have the full length P8 on my .223 T3 Lite to start with and converted it to a Compact, certainly didn't seem any louder, but definately lighter!!

Apparently the .308 will benefit slightly from the full length but all 3 of my centrefires including my .308 have the Compact version. The P8 is NOT the best sound reducing moderator anyway, but it works ok for me and is very easy to strip/clean etc!

The Compact is noticeably lighter than the full length, I did weight them but I've forgotten, I think it was about 120/140g lighter...that makes a lot of difference to overall weight and particularly so if the rifle is front heavy!!

Probably about a AA410, AND a HW100, and a couple of Sound Mods, Bipods and Scopes, and then a load more on top...Far too much :thumbdown: ... just got silly, like I was not going to be beaten, but my pocket took a right beating!!!

One of those projects where you keep wanting to stop but think I've come this far, so a bit more, then a bit more, etc...now the ****** refuses to eject properly.....completely unrelated, but yet more expense...and I bought the rifle brand new too!!

Funny old world, I have the Tikka T3 Hunter in .243 and it's sweet as a nut all round!!

You say that, but with the 22 baffles in, I rate it quieter than the Jet Z I have, and it does/did a good job on the .204, too.
