cunninghamb 2
Good to see it getting some attenion! I knew it needed a load doing, it had sat in my old FEO's gun cabinet for the last 14 odd years before I got it, so that must be why the seals where so perished!. All The Best Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
Hi, Davy. I could be remembering wrong as it's beer o'clock time but I seem to remember that the piston head from the scorpion pistol fits the meteor's piston and allows for a little more swept volume, so taking the power up a little. Still well legal. May be worth asking your chap about. Good luck with it, mate. Cheers. Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
Hi, Davy. Got your PM, mate but for some reason I can't seem to reply. technology!!! Some of those older BSA's had different piston heads depending on caliber, the .177 one allows for a little more swept area to make up for the fact .177's about 10% (ish) less efficient. Don't bother packing the spring with washers, it's a myth that it boosts power. If you think about it, youve still got the same amount of stored energy in the spring, putting more pre-load on it won't change that. All you're likely to do is make the spring go solid too soon and the trigger won't engage on the piston. One trick on those is remove the buffer washer and fit as thin a nylon washer as you can then redrill the hole where the pin fixes the head to the piston. It does feck all and in time, they always compress or split and drag on the inside of the cylinder. Titan do a spring for the Meteor's and I've fitted many of those to a good many gun's and they seem top notch. The barrels always go slack in the jaws and the best fix is to have a bolt fitted along with some shims between the barrel and the inside of the jaws. Maybe a job for your local tooling shop, that one.... Hope this helps you, Davy and Wurz. Cheers, fella's!! Edit... I'll give you a shout as soon as my PM's are working with regard to your earlier PM. Thanks, mate. Edited May 29, 2010 by andyfr1968 1 Quote Link to post
