The problem with tying in bagging is the you have to have smooth knot so that the selveage does not get caught up in the knot, and when they go over the knot they can slide off just as easy.

The only knot I have found that meets the requirements is a three turn whip finish knot pulled as tight as possible into the running lines. ( I use pliers to pull the knot tight ) When the knot is pulled tight it bites in to the running line and becomes the same diameter as the running line. That allows the selveges to run over it with minimal snagging.

Here is how to make a whip finsh knot. To make it easier to see I have used a thicker twine than I would normally use.

Step one. Lay a pencil or pen alongside the running line, then offer the twine that you are going to use along side them.

Step two. make 3 or 4 turns around the pencil, twine and the running line.

Step three. Pull out the pensil and thread the twine through the loops you now have on the running lines.

Step four. Simply pull the two end of the twine tight into the running lines.

Step five. Trim the ends that stick out of the knot as close to the knot as you can.

There you have it a knot that when used with the correct thickness of twine will not snag the selvages of the net. Apologies for the quality of the photos David Bailey I am not.
