tote 854
What a muppet you are Bob,the links you put up are dated 22 dec 05 I take it you had a good rake around and couldn't find anything more recent Do you always find the need to have a go at either Hancock or collie lurchers [that in your words, are only good for kicking] No matter where you go in the country you will find lurchers in rescue centres, are you gonna try and blame David Hancock for all of them. Guest joe ox
Hancock is in it for the money and will sell pups to anyone its that simple! Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,127
yes your dead right joe he is. although bob has put an old thread up, from anthor site thats almost 2 year old, im sure these rescue places are still getting the same amount of hanckocks in there. i think whats intersting is the fact when asked by one of these rescue places , he says i am keeping you busy arnt i . in a very matter of fact way. and also selling 3 pups from one litter to young lads he thought were a little dodgy looking. and knowere on that thread , does hanckock ofer any assistance in rehoming or helping in any way . if it were a dog i bred, i would help out getting a good home for it . as im sure most of you lot on here would do the same as for Hancock , lets face he dont care does he. millreef 0
know one never said he not in it to not make money, same as anybody who breeds a litter, tell me off anybody who has,nt thought i can make few bob out of breeding a litter? surely he cannot be blamed for the scumbags who dump there hancock bred dogs who wont do what they want them to do ie. wont catch red ones wont do 5/5 long ears etcetc maybe if they sat down before they bought one of his pups and thought about what quarry they were going to hunt theyd have brought right cross for themselves, but its all to easy to buy a pup then dump it in the dark in some field miles from home then buy something else, like i said in earlier post maybe if these rescue centres got names of owners of these pups and found out why theyve ended up there, naming a shamiong these people maybe put a stop to them dumping these poor dogs! Guest joe ox
millreef ive never bred a litter with money in mind the last 2 litters ive had were both caesarean and all i got back financial wise was the money i spent, the pups were spoken for before they were born so your wrong there! You can count on one hand how many litters ive bred and iam 36. Quote Link to post
Brummy 9
You people who defend Hancock would normally make me laugh if it wasn't for your deep seated ignorance and blinkered admiration for someone who is a DIRTY OLD PUPPY FARMER ! If a lad on here talks about breeding from an 18 month old bull cross or terrier nine times out of ten he'll be crucified by those who know better and rightly so. How can an 18 month or even 2 year old dog be 100% right for breeding/brooding ? Has it seen enough stuff? Had enough hard nights/digs? Normally the answer will be NO ! However you've got the DIRTY OLD FARMER down the road from me who doesn't own one single working dog churning out inbred temperamentally sub-standard rubbish and show dogs and some people leap to his defence! Although I suppose if you want a merle to mark rabbit holes you're away.... Why anybody with the will to own a working lurcher would buy from him is beyond me. Before anybody says how many have you seen work the answer is plenty and only one of them was half decent apart from the yapping ! Quote Link to post
madmac 0
Where I live there are still far to many puppy farms. Be honest any is to many and what DH is doing is churning out pups to. If he bred and others like him bred responsibly the rescues wouldn't be half so full. If you have a quality sound bitch and a line of people waiting for her pups fair enough but do we really need pages of adverts from people who have decided it could make em some money? The money is crap if you rear em properly. TBH you haven't picked the best sites to pull any info off as even by many 'rescue/pet' lurcher owners they are viewed as the bunnie hugging brigade. But be honest to your self and your dog before you breed and it would be better and that applies to the pedigree mob too. Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
This is the bit I really dont get He tattoos his pups to make them identifiable and traceable to him as being the breeder, but then when the pups show up in rescue he doesnt want to know? What an ARSEHOLE! I have travelled to rescue centres to pick up puppies I have bred and tattooed or chipped, because I feel its my duty to do it, otherwise what is the point of making the pups identifiable and putting your name on the paperwork as being the breeder? I have only had to do it a couple of times thankfully, as I try to pick where my pups go, but being human I sometimes get it wrong, it just makes me try harder to get it right the next time around. Why the man wants to tattoo the pups and then not care where they end up is beyond me, it defeats the whole purpose of doing it, I tattoo pups and chip them so that if they do end up in rescue centres or pounds due to theft/loss or straying, then I can help out if the owners cant be contacted. If your not willing to do that then dont bother breeding IMO Quote Link to post
