Guest vin
Hello all. I have been looking into this for a long while now..i have gathered up a few experts on all the fields required. I,m going to build a new lamp for mooching in small areas etc etc.. (rabbits) also a blaster for the bigger fields and the long runs etc etc. what i want from you people is a list of requirements for your own personal perfect hunting lamp. 1. what makes up your perfect lamp.? 2.what would you do to improve it ? 3.how long does your beam really have to be ? 4.How much spread do you like ? or not like ? 5.how much did your last set up cost all together ? 6.how long do you really need the battery to last ? 7.Does the weight make a big difference ? please just keep adding to the list anything else .... ALSO....if anyone has any old lamps (broken or not) to donate to this new venture please let me know... we are experimenting with alsorts of different lens and reflectors and any old bits and bobs you may have around the shed may come in quite handy at the moment.ive been looking for some of the old ASPHERIC glass lenses off the old vintage car spotlights to have a play with...( IM IN YORKSHIRE).could pay postage etc etc and little bit of cash, remember im skint I will keep you all posted on my findings. kindest regards vin. TOMO 26,280
the lightforse striker 170 has an excelent beam , this is what you should be aiming for. but this lamp could be vastly improved on , if the wireing/workmanship inside was better. and if it had an extra small bulb like the lazer lite, for opening gates ect. that would be very handy. Guest ferret feller
agreed but you need to aim for pricing around the 40-50 quid mark..... i think Quote Link to post
FERRETBOY 680
i agree with tomo but imo a smaller lamp would also be my prefered lamp which can fit nicely into your coat like the lazerlite and be made of simular material, dont like the twang you get from the lightforce when it just taps your zip. rew Quote Link to post
Guest manda
i agree with ferret fellers needs, the size and weight of the striker is perfect! hope you get sorted and i will have one if you make some good'uns scott Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
my ideal lamp would be the blaserlite with the same beam as the lightforce 170.... 1. its reliable 2. its got a secondary bulb for gates and things 3. its small, light and robust 4. the hinged filter systems are second to none 5. if it ever does need a part i think the most expensive part is about a tenner the only fault is the beam... i put in a flat lense from an 'ever ready' torch and i think it made a small difference but i wish it was as good as the lightforce 170.... narrow down the beam for me and you'll have a friend for life Quote Link to post

Guest ferret feller
no point having the filter built in... Quote Link to post
dogs-n-natives 1,182
I use the striker, im also soon to be getting a blitz for the bigger fields etc.. The worst thing for me is the wiring and connections. Ive had many nights brought to an early finish or needing to stop to repair perished wire, or loose connections. Now I rewire the lamp, and wire directly onto the battery, a good screw on clip, or even small crocadile clips would do the job better than the origionals. Im sure the lamp companies make these parts poor on purpose to increase future sales of parts from the customer. If you were making a lamp that was to be better than whats available, it would have a beam that is adjustable like the lightforce, at least as powerful as the striker, and has wiring with no pointless conections, and those that are nessesary need to be heavy duty and reliable for long life. Just my opinions, hope this helps mate. Quote Link to post
