Chilly -years ago my friend in the states bred them. The 1st breeding was W over PDT. The 1/2 Xs were so intense that they were hard to handle and hunt. When I went with this 1 particular female she seemed to have mutable personality’s lol. She would force herself down a hole and then back out and be looking for the other sight hounds to chase. She would absolutely put here mouth on any fur what so ever. My friend then bred her to another whippet and then he had some dogs that stayed away from earths for the most part and covered ground looking for fur like a vacuum. One male I hunted with “Shark†if you dropped him he would find in minutes nothing was safe. He was 25lbs.19-20 ats and there lied the problem he was to small to handle anything but a bunny. He would pile into coons and woodchucks and fight till he either dispatched or the animal quit from exhuaustintion. I said if he was 50lbs he would have been more famous than he was and allot more shit would have died over here.

Lol sounds like you had fun with them , My interest in them is as a bushing dog to flush to the lurchers and a bit of ratting, but still having a liite speed , do you think if it was a whippet dam the pups may turn out better ?

Pups turned out great, just small for me and my game I was hunting. Those dogs were "A" rated bushing dogs they would be perfect for what your talking about. The Patt and Whipp Stock used were top shelf so i'm sure that helped.

Do you think it would make much difference in which way the were bred sire whip or dam whip ?. Like I said I was thinking a good fast flushing and ratting dog capable of catching the odd rabbit in the open on the run, I was also hoping the whippet blood would make the dog a little more manageable and would allow me to house one with my lurcher a little more easily

Will keep my eyes open for a litter but i don't think it's summit that is bred vary much

Hey stuntman, you dont happen to have a old photo of one of these dogs by chance, do ya?

Ive wondered alot about this cross, but havnt seen much about it. From what you say, it sounds like a very intense little dog. How do you think a pack of 30-40lbers would do on a yote??

Traditionaly from what i know in the first X the dam is always the sight hound. Men have there reasons but mine is most of the time the SH dam is bigger and has an easer time having pups with larger litters. In the the case i was talking about the Patt dam and was tested to the max, had thrown many very good workers here in the states and the sire was a Lythe whippet thats sire was an open field coarsing champ from what i remember so it was a no brainer. The bitch was C-section @ 63 days and spaded at the same time, big vet bill......So I would go whippet dam imo. Good luck.

Here is the patter dale bitch that was the dam. I hunted her for the owner for some time. This pic was taken just after she had killed a coon in the ground that was 5lbs heavier than her. She was the real deal.

I have but I have no scanner. These dogs were later bred to GH X Apbts and created over here a line of dogs called "Snap Dogs" by many in the States. I saw some good dogs out of this but the best were the WH X PD cross imo. The answer to your last question put a smile on my face. I've seen a pack of 70-90lbs Stags get whipped off so my answer would be no go with mr.coyote. But I'm sure someone has or seen it, when that creeps its ugly head up ask them to show the vid.

Thanks for the info stunt man , That pat looks a good little dog , with the paterdale being such a popular and game little dog there bound to be a some litters bred out there at some point , would be nice to hear from some one over here

Yeah stuntman, i had a feeling that you would say that. I know yotes can be some mean tough suckers.

I have another question if you dont mind. How often do you run into packs of yotes where your at? I know most people belive they are mostly solitary, but ive seen up to 5 yotes in a pack.

I hope you let us know how your 40lb terrier does on them!!

I had one until a few months ago, she was a cracker, like the lads say, tackle anything with fur, but just too small for bigger stuff, fire and determination by the bucketload! Dug plenty of bits with mine too, would have another right away!
